Robert Pattinson braved the sofa on The View today. Tied for my favorite moments: Barbara Walters segueing from comparing his acting to James Dean’s to asking him about his Details cover story (“Excuse me, did I make this up or did I read that you said something about vaginas?”) and Pattinson answering a fan question about whether he’d date an older woman by saying “I think Betty White is probably one of the sexiest women in America.” We’ve said it before: There is nothing hotter than a straight man showing an appreciation for The Golden Girls.
Honorable mention: Elisabeth Hasselbeck trying to paint Joy Behar a visual so she’d understand what Pattinson meant when he said that the Remember Me costume department had to make him a “modesty pouch” out of half a bra for his love scene with costar Emilie de Ravin. “You had a bra on your unit,” Hasselbeck said. Why is a straight man showing love for Betty White such a rarity? You should visit some of the Comic Book fan message board (BEndis/Jinxworld) to see how most of the fratboyish comic book geeks adore White, and consider her a great National Treasure.
Another thing, the guy appreciates TERMS OF ENDEARMENT, so clearly he doesn’t have a problem with appreciating art that is considered “for women and gay men”

I really don’t think so, it was sort of taken out of context. I didn’t get that impression when I read the article, I think he’s just admitting to being sort of awkward, not so smooth with the ladies.

I definitely took it as a joke when I read the article, but thanks for explanation. I had never heard of it. I just thought he was being sarcastic, which usually doesn’t come across in print.
I think it is pretty ridiculous for you to say that you are “embarrassed to be an American” because as AMERICANS we had never heard of an old BRITISH joke.
I actually think that the awkwardness is toned down in this. Usually he’s much worse. He mostly, to me, just seemed kind of charming. And Emilie hardly said a word.
I think this movie is going to surprise people. Everyone that has seen it is giving it rave reviews for how much Rob’s acting is surprising him. I know that he has that whole Twilight thing on his back that people hate, but he is so much more.
And I loved this interview. He is hot and funny and down to earth.
The people of the View are the most annoying, stupid people. I kept on wanting to change the channel, but I endured the painful interview questions for my love for Robert Pattinson. But I felt so bad for Emily who was completely ignored except for one question referring to Robert, of course. And why doesn’t anyone realize that Robert is joking most of the time when he is talking. I hate how most people are taking what he says literally.
I can’t stand the morons on the view either but also endured only for Rob. He is charming, funny, witty and so sexy. As far as the Details interview goes – anyone who didn’t realize that was a joke is a complete idiot. Love you Rob, keep up the good work!

wow, I didn’t think that the “vagina” issue is still an issue I thought everybody have forgotten about it, what with all the appearances for the movie and the movie itself is a buzz-worthy. And poor Emilie, she must have been thinking of the same thing, I mean why was she even there in the first place!?
