Lindsey Vonn to guest on 'Law & Order': Which athletes have post-Olympics careers in pop culture?

vonn-cosstasImage Credit: Paul Drinkwater/NBCWhile we’re waiting to see if Evan Lysacek celebrates his Olympic gold medal by joining Dancing With the Stars (the new cast is announced tonight), we already know how alpine skier Lindsey Vonn will celebrate hers: In addition to being a guest on The Tonight Show this evening, she’s set to make an appearance as a jury foreman on an upcoming episode of her favorite TV show, Law & Order. A rep for Vonn tells us she hasn’t seen a date yet for when she’ll film the guest spot — Vonn is also booked in Europe for several more weeks of World Cup racing — but she did get a chance to run her lines with Bob Costas, who gave her the casting news during an interview over the weekend. Note: It won’t be Vonn’s first meet-and-greet with the Law & Order crew. She visited the set last October just for fun.

Which Olympians do you see having a career outside their sport? We’re big fans of ladies’ moguls champ Hannah Kearney, who charmed her way through both a post-race interview and a sitdown with Costas as the USA’s first gold medalist in Vancouver. She plans to finish the World Cup season with events in Sweden and Spain, but outside of skiing, she tells EW she’s interested in furthering her education, which may result in a degree in either economics or broadcasting. (“Watch out Bob Costas,” she jokes. We think she’d make a great commentator.) Who would you like to see more of off the slopes or ice? (We’re still pushing for that Johnny Weir figure skating tell-all.)

Evan’s not joining DWTS. At least not this season. He is already committed to the Stars on Ice Figure Skating tour that stars in April.

      I like Julia mancuso!

I could stand to see less of Vonn. She irks me. I’m much more down with Julia Mancuso. I was so impressed with Hannah Kearney during her interviews. I thought she’d make a brilliant broadcaster, but suspected sports would lose her to medicine or whatever studies she’s pursuing. She’s the kind of person you realize very quickly could do ANYTHING she wants.

Agree one bazillion percent dawg. Love Julia and Lindsey really bugged me.

would not bother me in the leaste not to see Lindsey, so tired of her whinning. Shaun White would be good to see

For whatever reason, I could not get enough of Katherine Reutter.

I agree! I’m disappointed that there wasn’t any coverage of her on the medal podium (unless I missed it) and her classy interview where she pledged to give back to help her parents out with their house with her winnings (had to watch that on youtube). A kid raised right! (Doesn’t hurt that she’s cute… :) )

Apolo Anton Ohno! I could look at him all day! :D

  • lokita 503

  • georgiapeaches

    AH POLO! :)

I say that Canadian ice dancers Virtue/Moir go into acting because eventhough they’re not dating, they can sell be completely in love with each other when on the ice.

  • Peggy

I’d love to see Apolo do something.
And definitely Shaun White – he’s so full of personality!

Shaun White and Lindsey Vonn!!!!! Can’t get enough of either of those two.

  • Mary

    Johnny Weir!!!!!

  • DanOregon

Agree that Vonn seems a little “packaged.” And NBC seems ready to sign her to a deal. Seeing the way she was rooting people on at the slalom.
I’d like to see a buddy cop show with Ono and Shani White and the bobsledding gold medalist Steve Holcomb as their sergeant chewing them out every week. Maybe they could patrol the Venice boardwalk on inline skates?

  • DanOregon

I meant Shani Davis but Shaun White would work to.

    Call it “The X Cops.”

  • Rebekah

Apollo Anton Ono & Shaun White. I expect to see them for a long time in the future. They might only do sports commentary or they could go on to acting, but I know we will see them both for a while.

  • Diane

I’d love to see Johnny Weir on a celebrity version of Project Runway. I can just imagine Michael Kors telling Johnny that his dress is too much like a costume or Nina questioning Johnny’s level of taste.

  • yakalbi

I could certainly do with a Lindsey Vonn hiatus! My goodness, while I respect her on-ski performances, one more interview, report, article, or photo shoot, and my head will explode!
