I’m not a fan of bringing past players back. I love the show but still like the regular seasons better. But I’m still watching each week and love the drama that plays out. The blog each week is almost as enteraining as the show itself. One comment – did Tyson kiss JT on the cheek after he was out of the mud??? That is interesting…
Tyson’s a jerk and that’s the kinda crap he pulls.
Marc, in your comment “I wonder what it means” I will confess my first thought at seeing that kiss was…did Tyson just use this to make an alliance with JT. What is portrayed as a quick kiss may have actually been an ear whisper of “alliance”. Time to check the TiVo
Judas kissed Jesus on the cheek as he betrayed him too! LOL!
I had the same, “is this an aliance?” question when Rupert winked at Coach before their second match.
It probably means that they are friends. OMG SO AMAZING
I am going to stick with James. I think he was just frustrated after losing. I still like him. Glad Stephanie was voted out and enjoyed the words between them. I think she is an arrogant B! I think Parv should have been gone, but they will regret that decision soon. I love how Sandra is playing the same game as last time. It might just work. Poor Candice, she is goine next week. If the heroes have to do a group challenge they will certainly lose. They can’t do anything together.
I thought I saw that kiss too, Marc! weird. Also, if you google Ben Wade, aka Coach, it says he was fired as coach. Looks like he is trying to pursue a career in Hollywood, lol.
I think that is way most of the players come back – to extend their 15 minutes of frame. Coach is an oddball and enjoys the camera. I’m still stocked about the kiss between Tyson & JT!! That went so under the radar but I wonder what it means….
1 hour just isn’t enough to do all the people justice on airtime. there should be 2 hours before the merge. we’ve seen so little of tyson and courtney. randy got nothing till last night.
without puzzles or a balance challenge, villians have zero chance of winning. they were smart voting off randy simply to reduce the man v man ratio for challenges. Tom owned Russell. That was the shortest fight. Russell just continues to be awful at them. The only reason he seemed to dominate last season was it was the worst cast of the 20 seasons.
1. We DID see Randy. He was the one telling Rob last week not to try to build a fire.
2. I think that Russell was not trying in the challenge because he wanted his tribe to lose and is also trying to fly under the radar.
Good morning, Jeff. Imagine my disappointment in waking up early, eager to read your blog, only to find that you weren’t here. Pacing around like a ‘Dragon Slayer’ with no dragon to slay (was searching frantcially for a ‘Survivor-esque’ euphemism), refilling and re-warming my coffee, heading over to Dalton Ross’ blog, googling; “Jeff Probst Blogs Survivor: Heroes Vs. Villains Episode Three’, waiting and killing time until your arrival. Panic.
Redemption. Here you are at last albeit with a bit of a shorter blog this week. Better late than never and better fewer words than none.
One thing you and Dalton Ross both didn’t seem to find worthy to mention was the one touching moment of last nights episode: Coach gently stroking a sleeping Jerri’s hair. Perhaps some find their pairing to be unnerving and a bit ‘icky’ whereas I found his gesture to be a moment of gentleness and humility — a rare quality in Coach.
Kaylin, Jeff explained quite thoroughly why Courtney sat out in what seemed like back to back competitions: to recap; they were two different episodes for which the ‘no sitting out back to back’ rule doesn’t apply.
I have to disagree with you, Jeff, about Parvati being victorious in the ‘War of words: female flirts’ against Jerri. Younger women calling us — eh hem — ‘older gals’ “Cougars” is played out, tired and offensive. I, for one, could certainly think of a few things to call younger women who flirt their way through life and game. I don’t dismiss that Parvati’s flirting is strategic, and perhaps a good one at that (it certainly enabled her to win a few seasons back), so good in fact that I disagree with your assessment and feel that it was ill strategy on her teammates to not vote her out, especially knowing what likely awaits them once the merge arrives.
Randy’s exit, however, did not disappoint. Does anyone else love the pause of the exiting contestant’s looking at Jeff as if he’s going to say: “Psyche! Go sit back down you silly goose.’
Your flame is out; you know it, we know it, go to Ponderosa, stew in it and we’ll see you at the finale.
I am agreeing with your thought on James (what happened to our soft-spoken, articulate James?) as well as not taking Coach’s gesture personally.
What IS personal is James’ lack of control and respect for the game and other players, especially those weaker than him (really, pairing him with Randy?).
Russell literally ‘burying the hatchet’ (okay, so, it was a machete) proved to be as anti-climatic as the rest of this predictable episode.
Here’s hoping for a better turn next week where Russell hopefully gets his head out of Parvati’s rear, teams up with Rob, starts looking for Immunity Idol’s and causing REAL shenanigans. Otherwise, we’re in for a long, dull season.
Get yourself an alarm clock, Jeff, and I’m looking forward to seeing you bright and early next Friday.
Clearly needs a life,
~Jo
Dull season? What show are you watching?
The same one you are, Lilymax, but, obviously from a different point of view.
That’s what makes these message boards what they are; perspectives.
Take comfort fellow Cougar, one day women like Parvati will get as old and wrinkly as the rest of us and are in for the shock of their lives when the men stop looking at them. *wink wink*..In Parvatis case, I wish I could be there to see it lol
Well, when/if you do it see, Marcy — kindly ‘youtube’ it for ‘Cougar’s’ revenge.
Won’t happen to Parvati – her charm lies in … charm.
I don’t understand the whole cougar thing – what happened to women having toy boys? Must have been too emasculating or something, though I don’t see how being a cougar’s prey is any less so. Maybe it’s to humiliate young men out of fancying older girls? Parvati is practically a cougar already – all she has to do is date a much younger guy and she’ll qualify.
When was James ever articulate?
I swear, Russell gets dumber and dumber each episode. What was the point of hiding the machete? It had no impact on who got voted out. I think he just does stupid crap like that just so he seems like he’s in control when really Parvati and walking him around like a trained monkey on a leash. He’s pathetic.
I definitely agree with you Jeff about Sandra! He’s a great player and character, I wish you guys would show her move. I love how frank she was during that conversation with Coach about how she’ll go with the majority no matter who it is as long as it ain’t her.
Simply love her and hope she lays the smack down on Russell like she did to Coach at Tribal Council last night.
Hiding the machete was done to cause distent within the campers. Since they brought it up at tribal, I have to say goal achieved. I would have, however, liked it better if BR had then spoken up and said…yeah and my hat is gone too. It would have had a much greater effect I think. Russell is doing the same thing he did last season, make them unhappy and they will argue with each other and not be looking at him. Even when EVERYONE knows he is an egotistical evil little troll.
If you watch the secret scenes on CBS.com you can see that they all suspected Randy of hiding the machete. So it did make a difference in who got voted out.
Great observation on Sandra, Mr. Probst! She is one of the best players ever and does not get the credit she deserves!
I am LOVING this season. It’s like sitting down for a great dinner with old friends. Even the contestants you never liked (Sandra, Courtney), hated (Jerri), ridiculed (Coach), and despised (Randy) are welcome at the table. In fact, some that were loathed in their seasons have really shined this year like Jerri. She has been hilarious and smart. Heck–almost everyone has been hilarious and smart. And if they haven’t really been smart at least they think they are. Which is even more hilarious. Kudos for a great season so far!
WHAT? I loved Sandra and Courtney. They have the best sense of humor out there both before and now!
Has James been hanging with Jose Canseco? His meltdowns are tantamount to “roid-rage.”
Yeah, I think you’re holding James to a different standard. When a villain (who you love) is aggressive and mean, you call it good TV. But we don’t expect James to behave that way, and his size makes it scarier, but it’s more shocking from a hero.
The way I look at it is that the villain label indicates their play style, what James is doing has nothing to do with play style or strategy. He is just being angry and disrespectful. It was along the lines of Courtney in episode one yelling out ‘Break her arm’. Theres no need for that, it adds nothing to your game unless your looking to intimidate and I can’t see how its going to help his cause.
Another fan with a brain!
Ummm…Jeff, the printing press wasn’t invented until 1000 years after Maximillian. But I knew what you meant.
nope – Jeff is right.
Printing press – 1440
Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I of Habsburg (22 March 1459 – 12 January 1519)
I know it’s a quibble… but The Holy Roman Empire isn’t really the Roman Empire. I mean it’s closer to the renaissance than to the fall of the Republic and Caesar Agustus. Hence, all the confusion about the printing press…bla bla.
Yes, but Max 1 was Roman Emperor and he had a printing press. So, Jeff is still right.
There is also a Maximilian who was emperor in the Roman Empire. So Jeff is inaccurate if not wholly incorrect. We need clarification Jeff!
James is a friggin gangsta. No room for that kind of behavior!
I came back to Survivor this season after a break of several year. What a great season to jump back in! I love it and am glad Survivor continues to do what it does best – let the characters do all the talking. Thanks!
I have always thought James was a jerk and a bully. It’s just more obvious this time around.
Interesting. I thought he was dumb but harmless before. Now he is agitated and angry.
the best moments for me
coach=plain stupid doung his dance
Russell= evil ego love it the machette is gone LOL.
Sandra= trow the rock and cover good job.
Paverty= queen of flirt dammmm good job no woman or man can escape her charm.
She did seem to be flirting with Sandra a little. Some women flirt with everyone!
Great blog Jeff, perfect length, funny Probst quips…..as I was watching the show last night, I couldn’t wait to read your blog about the challenge and you didn’t disappoint! Keep up the good work!
