This Tim Hortons ad – not Olympic but still a tearjerker.
my friend (who lost her mother in recent yrs) was commenting on the dan jansen add & i suprised myself by how vividly i still remember that gold medal moment w/ him winning, looking up(to jane) & getting a hold of his toddler daughter 4 that victory lap all while tears streamed down my face. i had 2 find that clip 4 her on utube & every time the ad plays i too choke up-especially in light of rochette’s recent loss
does anyone remember or know a link to the olympic commercials from around 1992-1996 that featured Lawrence Lemiuex (sailor) sacrificing his medal to save Joseph Chan story? and another in the same batch that featured a young farm boy who lost his legs in a farming accident and went on to win the paralympic gold medal, with the father narating – both canadian i think. perhaps VISA or NIKE or Mcdonalds?

I agree, it’s a pretty great commercial. Also a great tearjerker Canadian olympics commercial? The Tim Horton’s one with the family arriving in Canada. Throat lumps.

This commercial makes me cry everytime I see it.
I’ve seen this commercial hundreds of times since the Olympics started and it gets me crying like a baby every single time.
I bawled the first time it came on during the Opening Ceremonies!
It made me teary-eyed too (we get the Canadian channel here in Buffalo). I also appreciate the subtlety of the ad. It was an ad for Tim Hortons (gotta love their cruller) but it wasn’t a “hard sell” type of ad.
Tim Hortons, celebrating love, diversity, and a cup of coffee – proudly Canadian. Definitely my favourite of the Olympics and one of my favourites ever.
