So proud of Rachel and Mirai. Amazed by Jaonnie Rochette’s courage. And her father– the pride in his daughter and sadness he was feeling were both so apparent. His face broke my heart.
Go Joannie, your grace in the face of such grief is empowering to watch. My condolences go out to you and your family.
As one very cynical American, it’s moments like Joannie’s performance that remind me that not everyone is out for self and there is genuine goodness in the world. I know people suffer through tragedy everyday and this is just one woman in what some people consider the over-glamourized arena of professional sports but it was moving. National pride aside, I was one of millions rooting for her not just to skate well but for her and her family to be okay.
MAO all the way…i dont get the KIM hype…its nice the way beige carpeting is nice….mao just has something more unique…and 5point lead is ridiculous….Mirai should have placed higher than ANDo…she was sloppy….!!
Mao’s skating is not as smooth as Yu-Na’s imo. I agree that Ando was sloppy (she’s always been sloppy from the beginning), but her jumping skill is on a much higher level than Mirai’s.
I wish the broadcaters would tell us the music before each skater? The music and the the costume are part of the performance too.The music is the theme. ABC used to put the music under the skater’s name; that NBC ignores the music is driving me crazy. I keep hoping to hear it from the PA annoucer in the skating arena. They did announce music for some ice dancing, but not cosnsistently.
i hate it too that nbc doesn’t announce what music they are skating to. but if you go to nbcolympics.com and onto the skating athletes bio, they have the music that they skate to for 90% of the skaters.
They have the music listed at vancouver2010–just go to the event, then click on the “+” next to a skater’s name to see their score sheet and the music.
i enjoyed all of the short programs and my heart goes out to Rochette. i wish her great luck going into the long program. i can’t wait to watch. i am rooting for our US girls– i would love to see one of them grab the bronze.
I love how all the skaters just brought it last night and a majority seemed break their own personal best scores. Everyone was really the best that they could be and that’s how it should be in a competition. Yu-na and Mao were breathtaking as were Joannie and Mirai in my opinion. I can’t wait for the long program!
No matter what happens now, I will always remember Joannie as a champion. I’m so proud of her.
i hope the judges get it right….i’m rooting for MAO and mirai!!
KIm …i still dont get it….
Thanks for pointing out Flatt’s darker legs. I don’t understand them and find them incredibly distracting. It bugged me at the US Championships as well.
