Sneak Peek at Snoop Dogg back on 'One Life to Live'

Snoop Dogg returns to his soap home tomorrow when he guest stars on One Life to Live for the second time in two years. Once again he’ll play a version of  himself (one with ties to the fictional town of Llanview),  perform a new song, and act. Snoop’s said that he grew up watching this show and has a special affinity for Robert S. Woods and his Bo character.  That’s probably why the pioneering rapper once again seems to really enjoy being a part of the action. Take a look as Snoop talks Bo and  Nora Buchanan (Hillary B. Smith) into letting their son Matthew (Eddie Alderson) go to his concert at Capricorn, the local club.

The remixed the OLTL theme song that Snoop did for his 2008 appearance will air again on this Wednesday’s show. And Snoop will perform “I Wanna Rock” from his new album Malice N Wonderland.

I love that Snoop will guest on a soap. He is awesome.

  • SirLizard

And I love that he said that he grew up watching OLTL. One of life’s amusing little surprises.

  • JennaD

Can we get some love for the KISH boys (Scott “Chris Evans’ brother” Evans & Brett Claywell) over here please?

  • Karen

I love anytime that ABC remembers to promote their one enjoyable soap (OLTL) over the mob drivel on GH.

And a KISH article would be great!

  • Brenda Barrett

Yes, I ♥ OLTL getting some media attention. It’s so good.

  • Jon

I agree. The whole KISH phenomenon hasn’t really been touched on here at EW. AfterElton covers OLTL daily.

    • JennaD

*coughcoughEW* Cover OLTL/Kish! have you seen the former Step Girl that is Amanda Setton over there? WIN!

      • hochelaga

sadly AS is leaving the show for greener pastures…

      • JennaD

I know, shhh. She’ll still be showing til April. Her scenes last week were all kinds of win, btw, EW.

      • Brenda Barrett

I never cared for the character of Kim so I won’t miss her. I thought Amanda’s “dramatic” scenes by the lake were not well-acted, and Kim leaving her boots behind was ignorant (boo to the writers for that).

Watching 2 guys kiss is bad enough… I don’t want to read about it to!

This is probably the greatest thing I’ve read/seen all day.

  • Harold

What song(s) will Snoop perform on the soap?

  • Deiko

Soap opera soap opera soap opera when will you ever learn that its not over hyped guest stars or long term characters that give you high ratings. Its good damn writing! Writer better and people will watch more.

    • Brenda Barrett

OLTL is the best-written soap on ABC; have you watched it? One of the reasons it hasn’t been ruined is that, as ABC Daytime’s stepchild, it’s been free from the meddling of idiotic daytime exec Brian Frons. And, while you are correct that good writing can equal high ratings, “long term,” i.e. core characters are also very important, as we fans are emotionally connected to them.

Brenda I am a huge OLTL fan and have been for years. But the writing/stories have been awful (IMO) for a while. Todd and Tea just regurgitate the same dialogue over and over. The whole Stacy/Rex/Gigi thing has been terrible. Mitch’s return has been a huge disappointment. I’m hopeful things will turn around quickly but right now the show is pretty bad.

      • Brenda Barrett

Actually Buffy Freak (and btw, I’m a HUGE Buffy fan, too), I kind of agree with you about the recycled Todd/Tea storyline, and the Stacy/Rex/Gigi s/l (I hated it). Still, overall, I think OLTL has been very good over the last couple of years. I like the returned focus on characters like Bo and Nora, I’ve enjoyed the Matthew paralysis s/l and the introduction of Dani. I feel like OLTL is still true to its history, unlike AMC and GH (both of which I watched at one time until they became unwatchable).

      • hochelaga

maybe you are partly right , but I watched today’s epi and is was spot on …I agree that the Mitch storyline was wonky and not so worthy of Roscoe Born’s talent … but I think the Tea -Todd-Blair triangle still works and the other character dynamics Rex-Gigi -Schuyler , etc. are good too…I’m liking Jess’s amnesia story…overall a cool show and not the same ole stuff from the ratings king Y&R , which gets tedious …

  • hochelaga

“don’t say No ‘No-ra’ “… hahaha ;) greta line/set up..indeed OLTL is cooking with gasoline these days with contemporary storylines diverse and flawed characters, dynamic dialogue and strong team of actors…..Full marks and *****

  • Ronnie

I love OLTL and love that Bo and Snoop have history on the show. lol

  • Soapfan

Brenda Barrett, I agree with you. OLTL is the best written soap on ABC. It’s not perfect, but it’s entertaining on a daily basis, fun to watch, and the writers respect the show’s history.

    Come back soon, Snoop!

  • Alex

OLTL Is great show but to say snoop and no are great buddies is kinda corny

  • Alex

I can’t stand trevor st john as Todd. I miss roger cause the writers gave him funny lines

  • beenie112

I sorta grew up on the Snoop-as-a-gangsta trip, and it’s very nice to see this gentle side of him. I’ve always loved his Serious Pimp sunglasses, and he’s even wearing them on the show!
