Newly minted fashion darlings Carey Mulligan and Anna Kendrick ruled the red carpet at the BAFTA awards tonight, which air in the United States on BBC America at 8 p.m. Eastern. Kendrick, nominated for best supporting actress in Up in the Air, dazzled in a canary yellow Pucci knee-length ruffled dress, while Mulligan, who took home a best actress trophy for her role in An Education, stood out in an unusual floral-print dress by Vionnet.
In a sea of habitual sameness — flowy trains, sleek black gowns, plunging necklines — these two distinctive, elegant, but super-different looks are both charming and refreshing.

I hate Anna Kendrick’s dress. My favorite is the dress worn by Claire Danes. Carey always looks cute.

I predict both of these girls will be on a cable TV show in the next 2 years, because there’s not enough work out there for them all on the screen.
I’d take them anyday over non-talents like Jessica Alba or Miley Cyrus.
I love Anna’s dress. I just think she’s great.
Carey’s really great too.
These are two actresses I don’t mind reading and hearing about because they are actually really gifted artists.
Anna’s soo pretty. I think that’s a nice dress, but maybe she should pull it up just a bit?
What I don’t understand about Anna’s dress is those sheer panels on the side. It seems an odd stripper-like touch on a beautiful dress.
I thought Anna and Carey looked gorgeous, especially Carey. But my favorite was Kate Winslet. She looked so elegant.

I love KRISTEN STEWART’s dress… the cream, beaded CHANEL was awesome.. and love her shoes too.. Anna Kendrick’s dress looks like a chinese wrapper paper, Carey’s dress doesn’t seem to fit at all. so horrible to look at..
“Up in the Air” is the best film of the year. Love me some Anna!
Personally I think both their outfits are atrocious, but their hair and makeup looks wonderful. THEY look nice, their CLOTHES suck.
I loved Carey’s dress. I have been discussing it and people don’t seem to like the short front and longer back and sides. I think she looks fantastic and I seriously want her shoes. Awesome.
It was very asymmetrical, but it looked cute on her. I also love her new hair color. She’s just adorable.
