Conan live? Where do I buy my ticket?

Conan O’Brien contractually can’t do a TV show until September, but there’s nothing to prevent him from doing a tour of live stage shows — which are supposedly in the works, according to The Wrap and the New York Times. (O’Brien’s reps did not respond to requests for comment.) Conan, live and in person? Sign me up, but do it quick.

Team Coco’s fervor is fading, and pretty soon the new story will be how Jay’s doing back in his old timeslot, whether NBC can leverage a post-Olympic ratings bump, if Letterman can turn this into the best ratings of his career. The time for a Conan tour is right now.

I’d hope a live show would tap into everything O’Brien can’t do on TV; broader, smarter, dirtier, and more daring than any network could ever sign off on. I want more sketches, fewer interviews, more interesting guests, and more full-on comedy geekery, maybe a variety show instead of talk show?

What would you want in a live Conan show, PopWatchers?

I was always on Team Coco, I like him more than Jay in recent years, and I DID ACTUALLY WATCH THE TONIGHT SHOW WITH CONAN, ALMOST EVERY NIGHT. He rocks my world and I would be the first to sign up to see this tall, handsome, red-headed ball of Irish energy, anytime. Life is good for Team Coco members right now :)

I miss Conan and his carefree style that felt loose. Jay’s stuffy and bland comedy is boring. Thankfully I am a proud member of Craig Ferguson’s ROBOT SKELETON ARMY and that is enough for me.

That is awesome! I hope this is true. Im am having coco withdrawls and i need my fix.

I’m glad that somebody else actually watched Conan’s Tonight Show. I really enjoyed it. Does anyone remember if it was puppies dressed as kittens or kittens dressed as puppies?

  • Nathan

No chance he comes to my town (Calgary) but if he did, I’d be there in a heartbeat.

    • Matt

      we can always dream !

      • nat

Probably no chance of him coming to Canada at all (I live in Vancouver) but oh well.
        I’ll tune in come September!

      • Seriously

Boo Hoo. Nothing ever comes to Vancouver.

Conan Live? Tell me this is happening!

  • Hannah

THIS IS WHAT I WAS HOPING FOR! I DIDN’T THINK IT WOULD ACTUALLY HAPPEN!

The best thing would probably be a Q&A format, where the audience could ask him questions and he could spin some funny Hollywood yarns.

    • Brian

      No it wouldn’t.

      • Cheeks

Yeah, going with Brian on this one with a giant “NO.”

    • elgin

It’s be great, but NBC has him contractually prohibited from talking about them or Leno for a few months more (and there might be some other don’t-disparage stuff too). So he probably can’t talk about the juicy stuff

I’m going to see Conan live! Well, hopefully in the next few months. I had tickets to SF SketchFest (here in San Francisco) to see a live tribute show featuring the man himself. It was postponed because it happened to be scheduled right in the middle of The Tonight Show debacle, but I was assured it will happen at a later date!

When he would take Late Night to other cities (and countries!) I thought they were some of his greatest shows.

    • Nick B

I agree! I was lucky enough to get tickets to see Late Night with Conan O’Brien when he took the show to Toronto. It was awesome!

      • Cheeks

Yeah I saw him on Late Night in 2008 and it was like a I fulfilled a dream I had since I was 14 (I’m 25 now). I remember getting to the (stupid) GE building all extra early (they said show up at 4 or something, and we were there around noon LOL – but still not the first! Oh, those fellow Coco-nuts are smart cookies) and getting seats in the first row in front of his desk. I remember he sang the “End of The Show Song”…
        My all-time favorite vacation.

I would LOVE it if Conan went live!! I was also Team CoCo long before the official “I’m With CoCo” drive began, and I plan on sticking by him with whatever he does next!! I 100% back a live show, which I bet would be amazing!!

If he came to Vegas I would go. I might even go if he went to some California cities that are within a couple hundred miles.

I was so excited when he moved to the West Coast, because I figured I’d be able to go see him perform one day. I thought that NBC killed all hopes of that, maybe not!

  • thebigE

Does he have intellectual rights to any of his old material? Will we see Pimpbot, or that darn bear?

    • Lauren

No, sadly NBC took the rights to them as part of his exiting contract.

    • jim

Dave didnt lose that much stuff when he came to CBS.

      • Frederick

He could use “new” bits such as the “Self-Pleasuring Bear” and the “Year 5000″ though. The bits just have to be renamed and tweaked slightly for the lawyers.

    • laurie

Sad. Pimpbot is my fave character ever. I still think fondly of him busting on Ice T and Kathy Lee Gifford.

  • Brigette

I would be in HEAVEN if he did this! He better come to Michigan!

This is a fantastic idea, I’ve been such a huge Coco supporter from way back (when Late Night aired in our local market @ some crazy time, like 2:18am or something). If anyone in charge of possible scheduling is reading this, please keep in mind the Baltimore area. I know there’s a lot of Team Coco people here besides myself and my husband and this area needs a great night out, esp. after all that snow hassle. Hope to hear more Coco news soon, re live and/or TV, I sure do miss him making me laugh.

  • Mike

Why would he do a talk show without TV? It’s ridiculous to even suggest that would be considered.

    • fancypants

the shows would be recorded by tv cameras and might air later on DVD or tv, like comedy shows or broadway events.

    • Cheeks

I’m assuming it would be less of a “talk show” and more of a comedy tour.

  • Cate

Sign me up, sign me up, sign me up. I would die of happiness.

I am watching the news regarding this exciting rumor carefully, because I will be one of the first people in line! This is what I would like to see: Conan, plus Andy, Max and all of the band. I would love to see lots of edgy, far-out comedy, lots of new stuff. Also, let’s get the Masturbating Bear back, OK???!!! And let’s see Triumph at his smarmiest best!!!
    YEA CONAN!!!!!!

    • Cheeks

Sadly I don’t think he’s allowed to use those characters ANYWHERE anymore because they belong to NBC now… THOSE COMEDY MURDERERS!
