Your blogs are great, Jeff. Thanks for taking the time to write them. It makes the game more personable.

  • Miss M

I am loving watching the Heroes fall apart! They are complete idiots. Why aren’t they voting out Rupert who ADMITS he can’t run. There’s your weakest link. OMG they voted out Stephenie. Boston Rob, my pick, when the cast was announced, is THE man. I never get tired of watching or listening to him. We need to give him the Million$$ now! Great episode!

    • D

Rob may well get the viewer vote if he keeps up like this.

      • R

Totally hope so, he is a complete legend!

      • terry

Legend? C’mon, he’s a moron, and he’s a REALITY tv star. That’s it. Nothing more, no talent, just a game show contestant. I truly hope this is that last we see of him and his dippy wife. I hope after this they quit these reunion show. Let people play once then let them(and us) move on. These shows are never as good as the regular shows.

    • kacee

I think Stephanie’s ego made her the weakest link as far as the team winning challenges. She can’t take direction from anyone.

    • Aaron

I’m ready to vote for him as fan favorite, don’t even have to watch the rest of the season to change my mind because it won’t

    • Lil Tuts

Boston Rob won’t win. That was obvious before the show began because he was too much of a target, and it’s obvious not because of the edit he’s getting.

  • Allie

Thank you so much for blogging this episode Jeff. I gotta tell ya, I’m probably one of Rob’s BIGGEST admirers, and when I saw that preview, I was SO scared that he was gonna have to go home. Thank god he didn’t.

I found myself getting really teary-eyed when he started crying. I loved your scenes with him though. He seems like a really, really nice guy. You’re lucky to know him :)

HERE’S TO ROB WINNING THIS YEAR! :D

Oh, and James lost a lot of my respect tongight.

    • arcticjoe

I lost respect for tom too… and to be honest I don’t care for colby either.

      • kacee

Articjoe – I agree completely. While James sentiment was correct his method was way over the top. But Tom and Colby were no better in my opinion. Stephanie was perfectly capable of sticking up for herself to James. Everyone should have let the two of them deal with their problem without butting in.

      • Lil Tuts

        Colby owns.

    • cathy

You have got to be kidding !!! It was all so phoney….. They had his head propped up on a nice clean something before the medics ever got there… So disappointing this year hope it changes soon…

  • Peach

Very nearly my favorite part of the episode was little Russell getting underneath that last block at the immunity challenge and pushing it up off his back. I love that he’s so wee and yet so strong!

    • Rob

Haha I remember thinking that when I watched that scene as well, he did awesome lol!

    • JenR

Yes! I love Russell. I think he does those things through sheer willpower.

    • arcticjoe

yeah, he’s a little leprechaun for sure! hilarious

    • Brad

Tolkien said in his books that dwarves are a strong race.

  • Mary

Sure, James might be known for making one of the dumbest mistakes in Survivor history…. However he totally redeemed himself tonight by making one of the smartest Survivor revelations ever tonight concerning Stephenie! Sadly, James screwed up again when he let his anger get out of control – but that is beside the point….

I seriously challenge all of you who think Stephenie would have been such an asset to the Hero’s tribe (This includes you and your seriously adorable dimples Jeff Probst!) to go back and re-watch her earlier seasons. Most people never noticed during her previous seasons that Stephenie was directly (or indirectly) responsible for almost every loss her tribes had. She also played a huge roll in stirring up division in her various camps. The only thing that would even remotely make Stephenie a great player is the fact that in spite of (or because of?) all her whining, crying and elaborate pity-parties Stephenie was always able to totally deflect all blame off of herself and con America (or at least the Survivor producers) into making her a favorite player. However, I am not sure if this was her intention or just a happy-for-her accident… Therefore, in my opinion, any great player label is seriously in question when it comes attached to Stephenie’s name…

For the record, I can’t stand Tom Westman either… I will spare you that rant as I am sure EW prefers we use PG language in our posts and I can’t describe Tom without calling him a total *&#%.

Selfishly, I am still hoping for Coach to start his insane rambles soon so that Boston Rob and Russell (or at least Tyson) can start making some smart-assed observations about him. So far the villains are being entirely too nice for my viewing pleasure.

    • D

Tyson already had one smart-assed observation about Coach. Well, it was about Colby and Coach. Tyson has been AWFULLY quiet thus far in general.

      • Kat

When you are as mean as Tyson is, it pays to stay quiet for as long as possible. LOL

      • Jasmine

Nah…Tyson isn’t mean…he just says things for the drama…thought he was quite funny the last time he was on…and he was apparently nice in Ponderosa

    • spar hawk aka puppy dog

I agree with Mary. Stephanie was never good at challenges, she was only good at promoting herself. “Finally a tribe with as much heart as me.”, and yet they couldn’t win a challenge. “I never quit.”, and yet when she was up against Danni in the final challenge, she went down with “crybabyitis” in triplicate. She only wore the immunity neclace once. I think they removed the true cancer last night. I do wish James could have made his point a little more succinctly. While he was right, he went a way overboard, thus putting a target on his own back. When they showed the scene with the fruit bats hanging in the tree, I was thinking, hold James down, the bats won’t have a chance. I can’t express how good JT is at this game. Humbly taking the blame for losing, because he didn’t get bossy, all the while knowing nobody blamed him. Talk about schmoozing. He’s the master, and he’s the only one on the tribe who actually CAN do a puzzle. I was dragging my heel like crazy when I heard who was going to be on this season. I thought I wouldn’t even watch for the first time since Survivor Premiered. I must say, however, I am really loving this season, and watching Sandra play under the radar again is priceless. Cirie is good, very good, but Sandra is the one to watch out for. Great blog, Jeff.

      • kacee

Completely agree about Stephanie. Can not understand why Tom and Colby were alligned with her. I really liked Tom when he won his season, but he is coming across as a huge a** in the season.

      • sonny

Puppy dog continues to be incredibly amusing.

      • Jasmine

I do think Stephanie is pretty strong…for physical challenges, she would probably be of a greater asset to the team than Amanda or Rupert right now…She will probably be voted off later…but I don’t see the 2nd challenge as a right time…

    • Wynne

She played a huge “roll”? Sesame seed or snowflake?

    • arcticjoe

i’m totally with you about tom… don’t like him anymore

      • wizard62

What exactly did Tom do to make you not like him? Stick up for a woman? Stick up for his friend against James continuous ranting? Stand up to a guy much bigger than he is? Those are all heroic traits in my book. I think you must have a brain freeze articjoe!

      • kacee

I agree with articjoe. It’t not that he stuck up for Stephanie – it is the holier than thou attitude he has developed. When he won his season he showed more humility.

      • Brad

I agree with wizard, it takes guts to stick up for someone that has one foot out the door. It’s not gonna help his game play but he probably thought he was doomed anyway so why not. See how James tone changed after Tom responded, Tom is the man! He won a million why should he care to repeat it when he knows he’s already doomed. Those who don’t agree are probably those who don’t possess the character traits of a winner. Remember he’s a hero in his career (FDNY) something that some of you will never understand because you come from the lower class of America.

      • arcticjoe

Tom and Colby should have kept their mouths shut. It was between Stepheme and James. Stepheme’s a big girl. Tom’s comments were borderline if you ask me…

      • arcticjoe

Brad: I think James’ tone changed because once he realized he was coming across as a bully he tried to soften it down. He is a big guy and probably knows how he can be perceived. I know guys just like him… and I’ve seen them do the same thing. Tom’s comments were borderline and I lost respect for him because of it. Btw, just because he is a firefighter doesn’t make him a god… wtf. It wasn’t his fight and he should have stayed out of it. Lastly, as for your last comment… that’s not something an intelligent person would say.

      • snowdogsurvivor

Tom is quite annoying with his self righteous attitude. I respect that he is a NYC firefighter, but his lecturing about other players comments and is getting to be tiresome. It’s Survivor…get with the program Tom or get voted off.

  • Anth

“Maybe next year we’ll get a group of people who play a little more “old-school” Survivor and then we can see if my comments hold any water.”

Cast an “old-school” group like the ones we saw in the first four seasons and you don’t know how happy you’d make this Survivor fan. 16 people who want to play the game but more importantly appreciate the experience, seven jurors, and a final two. The recipe for a perfect season, and I really hope you do go out and get a cast like this.

Loving this season so far–these two episodes have delivered more excitement for me than the last four seasons combined.

    • D

What? Last season was very exciting! The episode where Russell played the idol they didn’t know he had and they got rid of Kelly. Classic.

      • sOuL-ReBeL

My favorite survivor moment!! “I just ain’t done playing yet” (Russels when he gave the idol to Jeff) :-) Classic!!!

    • tennisfan

Agree, Anth. I would love to see them do a pure, old-school Survivor season with all new cast that are not Hollywood-area recruits… I am finding this season enjoyable so far, but it is just a completely different game with past Survivors playing versus an all new cast…

    • Lil Tuts

That would be so cool! Notice how they kind of go old-schoolish every 3 seasons? Season 12 had 16 people, Season 15 was a huge return to its roots after the mess that was Cook Islands and Fiji, and then Season 18 was very old school too. So here’s hoping 21 is a 16 person cast (Although I don’t mind more people as long as the editting is still good) and a FINAL TWO

  • Manny

Wow. I cannot believe that the Heroes’ Tribe is forcing me to root for Coach…dudes, seriously? I don’t mind so much that they voted a strong player out for no other reason than James freaking out (btw, never loved the man), but it was just how they completely fell apart as a whole. I mean, talk about EGOS!

I was surprised by one thing though, Cerie and Candice voted for two different people. I agree that Cerie is a great strategic player, but why push Candice away by not coordinating her vote with her? Meh, but then again, Candice has no where to run, so if Cerie needs her later on, it’s not like Candice could afford to say: no thank you.

On to B-Rob. Loved the interaction between the two of you, quite cute. Awww, and Russell actually cares ;) And I completely agree that the two of them could run the game if they wanted, maybe they realize that later on. Russell definitely respects the man, and although he has a gigantic ego, he also knows when to shut the hell up, as glimpsed from the deleted scene. That guy can really nail things on the head with very few words. You get a chance for a million dollars, shut up and take it! Seems he is favouring his Pavarti alliance, the way he was trying to protect her from screwing herself over and all…interesting.

Well, Coach aside, Go Villains Go! I’m already exasperated by the sneak peak at next week’s episode and James behaviour, but I’ll be around to watch.

    • R

Might want to watch it again, Candace and Cirie both voted for Stephenie

      • Danny

It didn’t matter how Candice voted because they had the numbers to vote out Steph, numb nuts!

    • Sunga

Cirie and Candice both voted for Stephenie. Only Steph, Colby, and Tom voted for Amanda. Don’t fool yourself by the way, there are just as many egos on the Villains side, but you don’t tend to see ugliness until faced with a tribal council. The main difference is there aren’t any smart (in terms of puzzle solving) people on the Heroes side. I mean honestly who strikes you as a puzzle solver on the heroes tribe? Cirie is a smart social player, not a puzzle solver. Candice is in med school so maybe she has some ability to solve puzzles, but otherwise no one has really demonstrated a proficiency for that kind of thing. But the Survivor producers know what they’re doing. The Heroes tribe is stacked physically in terms of brute strength and there are always a few challenges that don’t involve puzzles at all and just rely on strength. Based on next week’s preview I think we get a purely physical challenge, just not sure whether it’s reward or immunity.

      • Manny

Darn, I mistook someone else for Candice. >.<

      • Danny

It doesn’t take a PhD to solve puzzles princess.

    • Lil Tuts

Candice and Cirie both voted for Stephenie.

      • Lil Tuts

Oh sorry, this has already been addressed.

  • D

It is interesting to see the stock of various players going up and down throughout the seasons they appear. Rupert’s went down the last time he was on and is staying down this time. James’ has gone WAY down this time. I think Stephenie’s has gone down too. Coach has gone up-I guess it was impossible for him to go down any further in my eyes. Jerri is up too. Rob is up-he is a “hero” this time. Russell so far is about the same, but we will see what happens in the next few weeks. I like Cirie and Sandra the same, that is to say, I like them!

    • I’mNotHereToMakeFriends

It would be awesome if Intrade had a Survivor contract!

    • Lil Tuts

It’s always been editting. Rupert and James have always been like that but they were editted as heroes and the dumb audience eats it up.

  • Sunga

I notice a lot of people hating on Stephenie for being overrated and unlikeable. She’s not one of my favorite players but you have to give her props for being one of the best (if not the best) females at challenges. Even though in Palau her tribe lost continually she was fantastic in her challenges. I just recall a challenge where each tribe was tied together with each member carrying a 20lb bag. They raced around a circle with the goal being to catch up to the other tribe. Every female dropped out of the challenge in like 1 or 2 laps, but Steph toughed it out carrying her 20lb I think almost to the end of the challenge (which her team lost). She is also maybe the best female swimmer and was also good at those random non-physical challenges like shooting a gun at a target. I’m not saying any of this makes her likable or a “hero” but it certainly makes her a tough competitor. Plus she’s easy on the eyes.

    • Kat

Yeah but same goes for James, and so far he has got them closer to winning each challenge than Stephanie could even dream about.

      • Kyle

If you want to compare, compare two females or two males with each other not a female with a male. Steph IS the strongest female on this season by far.

      • rhett

Steph IS the strongest female on this season by far,

        Don’t compare a woman to a man.

      • Kat

Why not? That’s silly. They don’t vote on male/female lines so why would I? If the choice was James or Steph you’d vote Steph off because James is much more valuable, even with a temper.

      • Kat

In terms of who they should have voted, it should have been Cirie. Might as well get that mess of snarled alliances over and done with before it begins.

  • KataGarbo

Voting Steph off after she proved herself last time around that she is a strong player. Very few on that show could last by themselves at the camp for more than one night. James used to be a favorite of mine, but he came across like an ass this week. Too bad. It doesn’t look better for next episode… hopefully he is a goner if he continues his angry rants.

I love BR and would enjoy him and Russell as a team.

  • Lil Tuts

Voting out Steph was def the best move for Candice and Cirie. Going with Tom/Colby/Steph leaves them at 4th and 5th, at least with the bigger alliance they have a chance.

    • Jen

How do you figure? They’re at the bottom of that totem pole too, fool.

      • I’mNotHereToMakeFriends

Tom/Colby/Steph were gunning for Cirie and she knew it. Fool.

      • Brian

To I’mNotHereToMakeFriends. Who’s the fool with a name like that you should probably remove yourself from society and become a hermit, fool!

      • Lil Tuts

No, they’re not. Cirie is tight with Amanda and James (and Parvati) no matter what she says. Tom/Steph/Colby were clearly gunning for her. It was the right move.

  • Joe

Jeff you of all people should know that Survivor is a selfish game. So sorry while it’d be great if people voted out the weakest first then the strong, people have to look after their self-interest strategically, and that can be to keep the strong tribe. But it’s definitely not the best way every time, especially if you’re one of the “weaker” individuals. There’s too much luck involved in challenges for anybody to stake their entire gameplay around winning challenges.

Stephenie is strong in challenges, but there are no really obvious weak people on the Heroes tribe. Maybe Cirie, but she’s performed well in the challenges so far except the puzzle one, and we don’t really know if Steph would do much better. Looking out for your butt isn’t “selfish” in Survivor. It’s strategy.

  • SUZIE

Hey Jeff hope you stay dry and well too ,thanks for all the info. cheers from Australia

  • Elizabeth

Stephenie is completely over rated. No one would have called it “bullying” if James was a woman. It would be called a cat fight. And Stephenie never admits to any blame which is why she still ran her mouth even after her torch was snuffed.

    • Go home James

Sorry, but bullying is bullying. I can’t believe a female would post such sexist crap–a “catfight”? Ugh–how old are you? You’re an idiot.

      • I’mNotHereToMakeFriends

Oh please. He went overboard, but James was on the money about Steph. Loved his calling her out –THAT’s when Colby tried to put it back on James, lol! Srsly, if this were 2 men I doubt people would be all, “oh he’s a bully” about it.

      • Brian

Colby really threw it back in his face, James was stunned he didn’t know what to say. It was priceless. Only idiots like I’mNotHereToMakeFriends can’t grasp social interactions, he’d probably kill his own mother for a million dollars.

      • Fae

James’ arguments were unreasonable and senseless, bully or not

  • princesspr

I am with you regarding James..as much as I like him…his attitude stinks this season….voting out Steph NOT a good move…even though she was bad at the challenge, I would have voted out Amanda or the other blond (sorry, can’t remember her name.)
