Thanks for the quick blog Jeff!
How is Cirie under the radar right now? I would be voting her off first chance I got. Love the girl but she’s too smart! I know if Russell was on her tribe she’d be a goner.
I would die happy to see Russell and Rob join up but I don’t see it happening. They are both going to circle each other and wait to strike. I was so pleased that Rob was well enough to rejoin the game so soon after his passing out and horrible flu. That’s stamina!
Am I the only one who finds it interesting that the Villains are working well together, and generally getting along, and caring for each other (Jerri with Rob, for example) while the Heroes are at each other’s throats!? It’s like the heroes are the villains and vice versa!
If James wanted to rid himself of the stupid label from seasons past, going into a roid rage for a solid afternoon did nothing to help his image. Mean is worse than dumb, James.
I did like that Colby and Tom came to Steph’s defence (not that she needed it but I’m sure it felt good in that moment for her to know people had her back). Sorry to see her go.
I was laughing at the reactions Rupert and Cirie had on their faces, its like they are above all this and just enjoying the show, thinking “Ah, the stupidity of youth…but so long as this isn’t about me, I’m golden”
My opinion is that the casting for this season screwed what was a promising premise of Heroes Vs. Villains. James, Amanda, Cirie and Parvarti — who had alliances in the past? Ridiculous! And I am beyond bored with those players. Rupert again? Boring! While I am glad to see Boston Rob, Coach, Tyson, Jerri, Colby and Tom.. well the rest of the cast holds no appeal for me. You couldn’t find ONE person from season 1 – Kelly? Rudy? Greg – hell even ABC order Sean. To have a 20th season anniversary and omit season 1 is a shame! How about Lex from Survivor Africa? Keith Famie from Australia? As for players who would have been interesting and had only played ONE season prior: Andrew Savage (Pearl Islands) who truly was a Hero to his tribe; Shane Powers (Panama – Exile Island) who was SO amusing; Brian Heidik (Thailand) a true villain; and Robb Zbacnik (Thailand) the skater dude with attitude – who can forget him strangling Clay in that challenge?
Really other choices from earlier seasons would be of more enjoyment to me and many others who watched from the beginning. Aside from a few contestants (Tyson, Coach for example,) I’ve been underwhelmed by recent casts. In particular the female contestants and yes I AM a woman, just to point that out. I’m tired of seeing weak, whiny women reach the end. I don’t see why the female/male ratio had to be equal for Heroes Vs. Villains.
I think most people from season 1 had no interest in returning. They would take Colleen back in a heartbeat and Richard Hatch couldn’t leave the country for legal reasons. I know they asked Yao Man to be a hero and he declined. I don’t know for sure about the others you mentioned but I agree about Brian, Shane, and Savage. Robb (with 2 B’s) was a terrible player and I think they wanted to at least bring back players who knew the game well, plus despite the strangling he wasn’t really a villain just immature. For me personally, I’d of loved to see Yul (Hero) return just because he was a fantastic all around player and Rob Cesterino (Villain) because he was a great and entertaining strategist who didn’t get a real chance on all-stars. As for why the men and women are equally represented I think they do it because usually de facto alliances of men vs women form (it happens almost every season at some point) and to have one side with more numbers to start would put the other side at a disadvantage. I think they overloaded the Heroes with brawn and they don’t have any good puzzle people (Cirie is a smart social player but not a puzzle solver). I wish they hadn’t of wasted a casting spot on Sugar who in my opinion is just there to further her Hollywood aspirations, and instead cast a smart female player like Shi Ann, who is as much a hero as Candice.
Come on, it was funny when Sugar flipped everyone off while topless. I think that was worth her being on one show. Agree with you on Rob C. They got rid of him way too fast on All-Stars. He was so funny to watch.
Yeah, I think people forget, when putting together their “dream Survivor cast”, is that CBS can’t force anyone to go, and b/c so many people go on this show as a “recruit”, very few are dying to go back and starve/be out in the elements/get bitten up for a 1/20 chance at a million dollars, especially if they have put the experience of the show well behind them.
Rob C. is my favorite player ever.
C….I heard one of Jeff’s interviews for his season and he implied that Brian is not very liked at Survivor Production.
Brian shot a puppy with an arrow, so I doubt he’ll be asked back. And bitter, babyfied Lex is still nursing his wounds from All-Stars.
You realize that they weren’t creating a cast that you personally would 100% love, but one that would be pleasing to their millions and millions of viewers? Stop being so self-involved, grow up, and realize that everyone they casted was casted because someone wants to see them again.
It is just an opinion. Why be so harsh?
I didn’t like James from his previous Survivor seasons, and I don’t like him now. His crusade against Stephanie was stupid. Voting out a strong player was stupid. Stupid like when he had two hidden immunity idols and didn’t use one of them, and then got his ass voted out. Stupid Stupid Stupid
Well then he should they have voted out, its not like Amanda sucks at challenges and besides she cannot make a case for herself at all.
Well the Villans are the”heros” and the Heros are just a bunch of schmuks. The Schmuks should self destruct one by one, while we have a lot of fun watching the real players stomp all over them. Go Boston Rob and Russell!
My feelings exactly!!!!
James is a winner. He’s probably won about every competition he’s been involved in. It just shows how much of a competitor is that he isnt going to sit by idly when his team cant get their act together.
You mean the way he “won” by letting himself get voted out with 2 idols in his pocket? You have a strange definition of winning. A whiner, maybe. Not a winner, never.
LOL!
He won a lot of his tribal challenges sure, but he’s never won a single individual challenge ever, and he sucks at the game. James is a failure, not a winner.
As James’ fan-likability went down in flames with his bully antics during TC, he was pretty much giving you and Mark a big F YOU for picking Stephanie as a heroe for being the last one on her team. He thought she was giving the Heroes bad mojo. Bully.
Absolutely wrong. Stephenie has always been a cancer on whatever tribe she’s been on.
James may not have been diplomatic in the way he went about it, but his facts were spot on.
A “cancer?” Really?! You’re a fool.
Real class act Big Dave. You’re a very shallow and useless part of the human rage.
Also forgot to add, Rob Cesternino (Amazon) should have been a part of this cast!
he was one of my faves. smart and funny!
Absolutely. Hero or villain?
I think Hero. It’s a tough call though. The Heroes sure could use his brain power.
AND Pei-Gei from Survivor China instead of Sugar.
Oh man – nearly had puppies when I thought Boston Rob was going home. Thank goodness he got it together. I also agree that he and Russell should put their power for evil together and steamroll to the end. But it won’t happen. Russell needs to be in control and he won’t give that up to Rob so he can make the power plays.
OMG! Send James home already. The minute he lost his cool in the challenge they should have sent him home. I’m sure his Mother didn’t raise him to talk to anyone, let-a-lone women, like that. Send him packing, he’s going to eat away at any team morale and cohesion they have.
Just my A$0.02 anyways
Once again, THANKS Jeff for taking the time to write your blog. Love it!
I cant believe there was no discussion concerning voting out Cirie or Candace? both havent shown much, infact I was shocked that Candace was brought back! Obviously her looks helped. But getting rid of Steph made no sense. Win some challenges first, then worry about alliances.
I agree.
Agree x 2. And yeah… Candace AND Danielle, huh? Why are they back? Boring! Barely remember them from their own seasons.
Agree x3… Although at least Danielle made final 2 even if it was coattail riding. All Candice did that was memorable was mutiny.
Lol, Danielle didn’t coattail, she was the second best strategist that season behind Cirie. And she wasn’t THAT boring. I mean, she wasn’t great, but she wasn’t that bad.
Also, Candice would’ve won the game if it wasn’t rigged, so she deserves another chance.
Stephanie was not helping them win alliance – she was one of the reason they lost the puzzle last night – her ego kept getting in the way. She has a huge problem taking direction from other people.
Some of the “Heroes” have over inflated egos because of the label given to them. James’ outburst after the challenge, and his attack on Stephanie was really uncalled for. It was nice to see Tom and Colby stand up for her, but if their team keeps losing, they won’t make it to the merge.
I had thought Candace would have sided with Tom on this vote. Sadly, she went with the others. Cirie was cunning. She was not in any immediate threat, yet she was able to coax Candace to vote against Stephanie. I believe her alliance with Amanda is super tight at this point, despite what Amanda did in Micronesia.
As for the Villains, they finally got the tarp they needed, and even though Evil R. caught some “real meat”, Boston Rob was the MVP of the day. Overcoming sickness, and rocking the challenge not 1 day later!
How did they like Russell’s chicken?
Ha! They again committed the “unfinished food story line” offense.
I totally agree Jeff! James needs to go, and ASAP. He did a complete 180 turn tonight, and the way he treated Steph was beyond absurd. He’s nothing but a coward who likes to bully woman in every season he playes (PG, Eliza, and now Steph). It’s hard to tell who the bigger idiot is: James, or me for voting for him in the China 100k poll. He won’t be getting my vote this season.
Also, I’m not even sure why he was cast in the first place. He brings nothing to the game other than negative attitude that just becomes annoying after awhile. We could’ve had someone like Yul instead.
I have a question Jeff: Why wasn’t Todd considered for this season? He is arguably one of the best winners!
Do we know who-all was considered or not considered? Maybe some were asked but chose not to do it.
I agree that James’ outburst was completely over the top, but don’t call him a coward because he should not have yelled at a woman that way – he should not have spoken to anyone that way. And for the record I am a woman who can take be yelled at better than most men.
Todd was considered, but never seriously. God knows why though, he would’ve been soooo much better than Randy! I understand they needed Tyson for strength, but RANDY? My guess is it was to stop the obvious Todd/Courtney pairing who are BFFs in real life, unlike some others like Amanda/Cirie. Or maybe production doesn’t like him.
I thought the EXACT SAME thing while watching the episode. Since the contestants insist on dividing the tribe up as soon as possible, they should have voted out James. JT was stuck between his two alliances; One with James and one with Tom. On Tom’s side there’s Colby and Stephanie, and on James’ side was Amanda and Rupert. If he really could have swayed Cirie and Candice, he should have gone with Tom because as a previous winner, it’s in his best interest to stay loyal and go to the end with another previous winner. JT could have either voted Amanda like Colby, Tom and Stephanie wanted or better yet, convince them to vote James. If JT got James voted out he would have pretty cleanly broken off a alliance and wouldn’t have to worry about an even angrier James running around camp trying to get him out at the next tribal council. Yes James is strong but his attitude wasn’t helping keep the TRIBE strong and it’s not like the ‘Heroes’ would be completely weak and helpless without him. Then the alliances would appear be 6 to 2 and his next move would be to tell Candice that their alliance (JT, Tom, Colby, Stephanie) would keep her til the merge if she helped them vote out the swing vote, and possibly one of the best strategic players in the game, Cirie. Then his alliance would clearly have the numbers. Then Amanda goes next cause she’s tight with Parvati and if they got together at the merge she could join up with whoever Parvati casts under her spell. Then Rupert if they were to go to that many tribal councils before the merge. But now Tom and Colby don’t trust JT and he kept the possibility of a Micronesia alliance dominating the game by keeping them together and bringing in more people into their alliance.
Oh and thanks for the blogs Jeff. I always look forward to reading them every week.
agreed, thanks jeff, wake up every friday morn and start the day off with this blog
Well, since James keeps getting used by the girls its not surprising besides its not like Steph wasn’t a negative influence in the challenge.
“USED by the girls”? Sounds like someone has a problem with women. Sorry, Henry, maybe one day you’ll get a girlfriend, but you’re gonna have to move out of mom’s basement.
James does have a history of getting used by the girls. What was wrong with that statement? Was it the use of “girls”? Would “James is easily manipulated by women” be better for you?
James only gets used by the girls because he lets them. He alligned with Amanda after she voted him out in China, only to get screwed by Parvati, and even then he did nothing about it. He comes back again and guess who he alligns with? Cirie and Amanda. He’s stupid, and it’s his own fault he gets used by the girls.
The Villains didn’t work as a team to win the challenge, Rob won the challenge for them. Without Rob they would all be standing around trying to figure out how to put the puzzle together.
The Heros started out so happy and helpful. I thought we would have a shot of them singing around the campfire. Look at them now. Things change quickly.
Love JT, Cirie, Tom, and Rob.
I didn’t get JT’s appeal the season he won and I don’t get it now. Oh well.
I agree–he seems so insignificant. Makes me wonder how he ever won the first time. Can’t wait for him to go (but only after Rupert and James, please).
BECAUSE HE IS A GREAT PLAYER, NICE TO LOOK AT AND THE ACCENT DOES NOT HURT A BIT. YUM!
I think you misunderstand teamwork. Teamwork isn’t everyone doing equal shares of the work, it’s working well together. That means, having a clear leader and listening to him. The Villains did this, therefore they had good teamwork.
