'The Good Wife' last night: Adrenaline rush!

I am willing to concede that my heart might have just been racing during last night’s episode of The Good Wife because it was heavy on Will and Josh Charles looked really good in that leather jacket. But I also think it had something to do with the scene below, in which Alicia (Julianna Margulies) had to rid the secret loft their murder suspect client kept of any evidence the police could “misunderstand” before it was declared a crime scene. DRAMA!

This was my favorite episode of the show so far. I actually wanted them to stay with the case rather than go back to Peter’s appeal trial. I found his pissing match with Childs (Titus Welliver) less compelling than Kalinda’s showdown. Kalinda (Archie Panjabi) not-so-subtly letting the judge know that she would reveal him as “No. 12″ while Childs questioned her — didn’t see that coming.

How do you feel about Peter (Chris Noth) coming home? In a PopWatch poll earlier this month, 44 percent of readers wanted him to clear his name but not move back in with Alicia and the kids YET; 25 percent wanted him to stay in prison, for the sake of the show; 18 percent wanted him to clear his name but NEVER move back in; and 12 percent wanted him to clear his name and move back in just as he did at the end of the episode, on house arrest. I suspect having Peter at home awaiting his next trial will make Alicia even more open to spending long hours at the office, which could up the tension between her and Will. If the writers keep the cases and the lawyers as riveting as they were last night, we should be just fine.

yeah – a majority of the episode for me was thinking how cute Josh Charles was. Dang. It made me want to go back and watch every Sports Night episode… and this episode of the good wife a couple more times.
But yeah – it was a great episode! And the Kalinda part of the story was great!

This is one of my favorite new shows. Which means, unfortunately, that it will definitely get canceled. They always do. But, hey, we can always watch that drek called CSI Miami…

The good wife is already renewed couple of weeks ago :)

I loved last nights episode. This is one of those shows that surprised me with how much I am invested. I expected it to be a filler show because I have nothing else I watch in that time period and instead it is one of the shows I most look forward to each week.

This great show should remain focused on Alicia and her cases, with Peter staying in the background.

In Julianna’s own words “It’s called The Good Wife, not The Good Lawyer”. So Peter plays a pretty big part in The Good Wife.

I totally thought they were going to go with Kalinda being one of Peters girlfriends as a way to claim he perjured himself; but Kalinda knowing about the Judge was even better. It made me like her more. Good episode.

Have we been doing “The Good Wife” recaps for a while now? I always thought this great show deserved a recap, but this is the first one I rememeber seeing.

I agree this has been the best episode of the season, and yet…as I watched the case unfolding, with so many potential suspects (Diane and Will each taking one client, and facing each other in court!), Kalinda investiagting on the side (any show with a lot of Kalinda is great in my books!) that so I was a little disappointed that it wrapped up so quickly. I’m sure the interest would have held up (or even increased) over a two or three show arc, and the Peter subplot could have been done afterwards on it’s own (with more Kalinda – even better!)

Kalinda just became my favourite character after that exchange on the witness stand.

    Dear Good Wife writers,
Please have more scruffy Josh Charles in leather jackets and WAY less Chris Noth.
I, ahem, may have fastforwarded through the Peter courtroom scenes (except for the part with Kalinda, that rocked) and may have rewatched scruffy Will scenes more than once.

    thanks!

Fantastic episode. Kalinda rocked in the courtroom scene. Hilarious!

I thought the funniest part was Carey with the touching (his tie and Alicia’s scarf. Her reaction was very funny.
I also really like the fact that despite these two being rival, they get along.
And that despite Will and Diane being partners, there is a rivalry there.

    • Mandi Bierly

Totally. Loved both those dynamics in last night’s ep.

One of the best episodes yet!
The whole murder storyline was compelling.
Two standouts: hot half naked Matt (Cary) at the beginning of the episode along with a hot fully-clothed Josh (Will) in regular clothes, in which he looked hotter in most all episode than the suit he was in at the end.
More scenes of hot looking Cary and hot looking Will, please! to go along with the good storylines.

Wasn’t the biggest Josh fan, but dang he did look good last night! And Kalinda is one of the best characters on tv right now!

That episode should have been titled Kalinda Saves the Day. She solved the case, saving the husband from a murder charge and saved Peter from 9 years in jail. She rocks. Hard. The favorite part of the episode, and all episodes, are the BFF drinks that Kalinda and Alicia have.

  • Carley

I loved this episode. Agreed, Josh Charles was SO hot. More scruffy Will! The scene of Alicia trying to hide was great.

I’m a little over Kalinda so my reaction leaned more towards of course she saved the day than go Kalinda.

Hopefully having Peter home will drive even more of a wedge between them. I’m not ready for them to reconcile. Partially because I ship Alicia/Will but mainly because it seems too soon. Alicia hasn’t even really been angry yet that we’ve seen.
