Captain Phil was one of my favorites. I started watching the show from the beginning and haven’t missed an episode yet. I adore the way he can come off as such an asshole, and yet has one of the biggest hearts out there. I remember one of the episodes where another ship went down and they coast guard was looking for survivors, Captain Phil sat in his chair, quiet and simply waiting for any news. When it came in bad, you saw the tear in his eyes and the shake of his head as fellow shippers lost the fight. RIP Captain Phil and good luck to his family.

Phil was my absolute favorite of all the captains! Deadliest Catch won’t be the same without him. RIP Phil….

You couldn’t help but love Captain Phil – gruff but lovable is how I’ve described him. I love the crab fart theory (and it worked for him, so who are we to dispute it?)…I also love all of the pranks they pulled on each other – even when he got pranked, he took it well (wasn’t he the one who pulled up a “new” truck with his crab pot?)…

We’ll miss Captain Phil, but I am glad that he got to go out doing what he loved and with his sons alongside him…Through all of the bickering and arguing, you could tell there was a lot of love in that family!

    We’ll miss you Captain Phil!

    For you Phil.

The Lord is my Pilot, my ship is well stored.
He steereth me into the harbors of abundance
and guides my feet to the broad straight streets of port cities.

    Yea, though the tempest rages
    I shall not be afraid
for He knoweth the ways of the sea
and the strength of each ship launched upon the ocean of life.
His compass and His steering wheel are true.
He followeth the star which lights the way to the shores of immortal life.

My voyage has led me amongst pirates at sea
    and buccaneers ashore,
but my ship and its captain have survived perils on land and on sea.
I have faith that favorable winds and calm seas will be our lot
so long as the voyage lasts, and that
I shall meet the Supreme Port Captain in the harbor of life eternal.

Phil was my favorite captain, not sure why I was drawn to him more than the others but he always made me smile. My heart goes out to his boys, the rest of the family and to his crew. Phil, you will be greatly missed!!!

This is terrible Phil was my all time favorite captain. I wonder if the show will continue on. I feel terrible for Jake, Josh, and Murray. They are all in my prayers. So is Phil.

I loved watching Phil and his boys. I for one don’t have the kahunas to do what you and your family does for a living. I mean that out of respect for you and your family. May your soul rest in peace. Thanks Phil.

Unbelievably sad! Been a DC fan since the beginning and this is just horrible news. You can see how Josh and Jake looked when they were making their Dad proud, or just playing around. I especially loved when Josh shaved the mohawk with hopes to change the luck on the Cornelia Marie a few seasons ago. :-) The Harris family is in my thoughts and prayers. You will truly be missed, Captain Phil! :-(
