Ah, the long-fabled Cuddy episode, the one I so hoped would give us magical emotion-generating insight into her character, the one where House and his Read the full post.

No wonder House is so in love with her!
DITTO!
I agree totally with the recap – whoever wrote this episode is so lame – throwing all of those problems into one episode was just dopey and unbelievable (even more unbelievable is Cuddy’s cleavage – in my 20 + years of working in offices I’ve never seen a female professional dress like that and in the early episodes, neither did Cuddy) – and that Cuddy was personally responsible for dealing with all of them? I would have rather seen her deal with the real, petty crap that someone in her job has to deal with every day – a good writer could make that interesting to a viewer.
Lisa Edelstein is a quirky actress and has played some memorable guest roles on two of my old favorite shows: Rob Lowe’s date turned high-priced call girl on The West Wing in 1999 and a male-to-female transsexual on Ally McBeal in 2000. No surprise she gives us an eyeful (or two) on House also.
I loved this episode. Lisa Edelstein is a great actress. Love her!! I do have to say though could they have ound one more major crisis for her to deal with. Come on….a selfish idiot who wants sex when he knows what her morning has been like and that she was running late, a major crisis with negotiation of an insurance contract, with, of course, a decision that must be made by with barely no time to think it through and the ramifications if her bluff had really been called, a patient suing the hospital because Dr. Chase reattached his thumb, the whole pharmacy debacle and the employee who had been stealing from the hospital, etc., etc., etc. And if that’s not enough, a sick baby at home and no call from the babysitter, compliments of Lucas. So he brought her lunch. Big deal!!! A little much for one day I would think. These things do happen, but again not all in one shift. Also, I have a hard time accepting the fact that she would take all that crap, especially the sex stuff, from Lucas. Makes her look like a real doormat, even for a guy she really doesn’t love.
Can you see a guy coping with all of these crises in one work shift and not jumping out the nearest window???
Is it just me or was the doctor outside her office when she went to confront Gale for the second time played by a Mr. Tanaka from glee. I kept rewinding the DVR, but was never able to get a good look to know for sure.
Ok, I didn’t read all the comments – but I just have to say…BORING! Who cares what Cuddy does all day? In no way would a woman in her mid-30s be in charge of an entire hospital – and dress like a hooker – and have NO admin assistant – and do all the work that the hospital must employ others to do – and stop me if I’m wrong, but isn’t the board, esentially, her “boss” – how is she allowed to make decisions that affect the entire hospital w/o considering what the fallout would be??
I liked the episode and glad LE had a chance to really show her acting chops. I loved the interaction with House. I think I would of liked it better if her final yes had been a little more private instead of a giant yell. That just seemed a little out of character with the insurance guy still in ear shot.
Can anyone tell me what brand or type of watch Cuddy was wearing in the final scene when she goes home for the day and there a close up of her looking at it? I can’t tell if it is Cartier (they usually use Roman Numerals) or maybe a Bulgari. I love it, and I can’t find it online anywhere – help!
I loved this episode. I think that we can learn a lot from it about how to handle crises in our own life. I think the way Cuddy handled things was brilliant. All in one day, a million things were coming down on her, and instead of crying and trying to escape, she stayed professional through it all, and never broke down, never once complained, never once took her frustrations out on another person. She just kept trudging along professionally. The immense pressure never once swayed her from making the most professional and ethical decision in each situation, so that at the end of the day she would not have to be ashamed at anything she did.
Finally, at the end, by holding tough and never taking the cowardly way out, she was rewarded with the results she wanted. What a great episode and what a great life lesson. I hope I can remember to stay calm and on top of things like her when the garbage piles up in my own life.
I loved this episode. It was most definitely a nice change of pace. Would have loved to seen the next episode be the same thing on back to focusing on House; would also enjoy more episodes like this periodically only with other characters. Keeps things fresh and new.
The dullest episode of the season so far. No character development, no humour, no drama.
Totally agree about the way Cuddy dresses! There is no way a hospital administrator would ever dress like that. And by her doing that, it totally kills her credibility and makes it hard to take her seriously. No professional would ever dress like that and be respected! Don’t get me wrong, I love looking at Cuddy’s lake titicacas, but is just unrealistic.
