'Heroes' recap: The best season never

The fourth season of Heroes ended not with a bang, not with a whimper, but with a collective synchronized shrug. Read the full post.

Heroes may never rise again to the level of Season One, but the remaining seasons haven’t been horrible by any means. Unlike Smallville which will never show Clark Kent as Superman, Heroes should begin “transitioning” to show the characters becoming superheroes–this was hinted at before with Hiro and Ando–if anything it could bring renewed interest and viewers…

C’mon people, yeah this season was bad, but you easily give up. When is Peter going to get all his powers back, by the way? Hiro’s powers were taken away and all he had to do was touch Matt’s baby and got them back. We need Peter back to the way he was in season 1 and 2. We all know that Sylar is the most powerful now, but back then there was only one person that could stop him and that was Peter Petrelli, because everything that Sylar could throw at him, Peter could absorb and copy. I do agree that Tim Kring and the writers need to go a different route though. Season one was awesome. It had charachters we had to learn about and grew to love and one great villian and one great hero! And what’s up with Claire becoming a lesbo this season?

How about we stop reviewing the awful shows like “Heroes” and “24″ and start reviewing the great ones, like “Chuck” and “Human Target”?

To be honest, the 4400 had a better storyline than Heroes. The mistake that Heroes made was not killing Sylar in S1. The moves Sylar made in the first season could never be repeated and they kept reaching to remake Sylar. Samuel could have worked if there was no Sylar. Like the 4400, Heroes can go no further. It’s been fun.

Know what’s sad? I have watched Heroes and Smallville since they both started, and these are two shows that I do not really care if they end (I kind of just watch them because I’ve already been watching them for so long). However, Smallville’s last few seasons have been significantly better than Heroes’, even when Heroes is a network show that is supposed to be on a whole different level than Smallville, which is intended mostly for teenagers and young adults.

I’m still baffled how the writers thought it would make for riveting tv to have the big climax be two characters (Peter and Samuel) trying to push dirt at each other. Seriously?? I kinda hope it gets cancelled just so I can finally stop watching – what exactly was the point of the entire season?

Just looking to hear some ideas for the next season … and I do hope there is a next season!

Since the secret is out about people with abilities I wonder how they are going to write that into the next season.

The writers need to come up with something good to keep people interested in the show.

Perhaps there should be a task force of people with abilites that monitor the (bad) actions of people with abilites. A new villian who is truly using his/her power for evil and the struggles of the Heroes to track this person down.

Samuel from this past season season reminds me a Magneto from the X-Men. Magneto felt that mutants should rule the world because it is part of natural selection and survival of the fittest.

Heores could just have Hiro go back in time to stop Claire from exposing her abilities. In the meantime why doesn’t Hiro put Claire someplace where she can think about her actions.

It’s interesting you made the connection to X-Men because the powers they exhibit could be considered mutations. And with the cat out of the bag, the general public will probably respond to the specials the same way people respond to mutants.

I thought this season was the best since season 2. I liked the idea of the Carnival and I loved Samuel – the actor who played him was amazing – the best actor on the whole show ever. I agree the finale was a bit under the weather, but it was okay – not terrible.

Plot Holes. How come Samuel was able to destroy his old home in New York City, when he was there by himself? He again went to a Texas town in the middle of the season, all by himself, and destroyed the Sheriff’s office. Yet in the finale he loses all his power, because the carnies leave him. Even though Sylar, Doyle and Peter, not to mention other heroes were still near Samuel. So why was he completely a whimp and powerless. Also the online graphic novel has a different ending. It seems the writers are all over the place.

I am in the minority here, but i thought this season was probably the best since season 1. Samuel was a better villian than say Papa Petrelli, or Danko. The storyline did not feel rushed, and i admit. i was engaged from start to finish. I cannot say that about season 2 or 3. I hope it is able to come back next season.

I WATCH THE SHOW EVERYWEEK AND HAVE SINCE DAY 1 AND THE MAIN PROBLEM IS SYLAR AND WHAT THEY’VE DONE TO HIM. JUST LET SYLAR START KILLING AGAIN AND THEN MAYBE THE HEROES WILL HAVE SOMETHING TO DO OTHER THAN TALK TO EACH OTHER ABOUT ABILITYS I MEAN OK WE ALL GOT IT WE KNOW WHAT YOU ALL CAN DO QUIT BRINGING IN NEW CHARACTERS ON THE SHOW TO TELL THEM WHAT U DO EVERY FREAKING SEASON JUST TURN SYLAR LOOSE AND TURN THE HEROES LOOSE AND LETS JUST SEE WHAT HAPPENS. SAMUEL IS A GOOD VILLIAN BUT THEY DON’T NEED A VILLIAN STRONGER THAN SYLAR HE NEEDS TO BE THE BEST, THEN IN THE FINALE IF THEY WANT TO KILL HIM OFF THEN I SAY DO IT. ITS JUST RIDICOLUS THE WAY THEY’RE DOING HEROES SINCE THE END OF SEASON ONE ITS JUST SUCKED.

I think the reason people post such negative comments is we are so disappointed and want to share our frustration with other people. But, it would be too embarrassing for people we know in real life to know we have watched this show so we have to commiserate with strangers.

If the show returns, the writers really need to storyboard the entire season and ask themselves if the storyline, powers, and character motivations really make sense. If every character has unlimited power and every story encompasses the entire world, then the monty haul dimension increases exponentially with every episode and season. Wipe the slate clean, maintain a dark non-comedic tone, and give us deep, real, intelligent characters. Also, stop adjusting the story to fit the characters. Maintain plot consistency and when the situation calls for it, let characters die or make realistic self-motivated decisions. Follow the model of BSG and maybe this show could be good again.

It’s been unwatchable since Season 2. I gave them a “sophomore slump” pass on season 2 and tuned in for 3. It’s just bad. It’s like an “adult” view of what a kids comic book should be like.

Heres my questions. What ever happened to the irish girl peter lost when he went to adam monroes place in paris and time traveled? what happened to micah, that little dude can control the world. what happened to the girl who could mimic what she watched/saw? what happened to the boy who could get into the dreams of people in india during season 1? what happened to wes the flying boy? he never did make an appearance in season 4. what happened rebecca in season 4 did i miss something? what happened to molly? why am i still writing this? no one is going to read!
