Another great episode. Doc I want to know what happens to someone in the sideways world when they die in island world. Does nothing happen, do they also die, do they get memories from island world?
best totally lost in a long time — doc and dan, this should be your basic formula.
Teasers! Did baby Ethan depart on the sub pre-Incident and grow up in Sideways World? Sawyer – no idea which sad Desmond parallel we’ll see; Sayid tortured on island, not in SW; death cab actually a birth cab? (Claire did have early contractions in the Pilot). Bonus teaser – Ben mind-frak or will they really reveal something?
Michael Emerson’s comment right at the end gave me chills: “What if you could see what the show was about, but not recognize it?”
It only ends once. Everything before that is progress.
I think the timeline will reset until whatever it is that needs to “end” does. It changes subtley every time it resets or progresses as Jacob put it.
Very funny stuff guys as always. I loved the room changing around as you talked to each other as well as the cameo by Elizabeth Mitchell.
Could the differences between the Sideways world and that of the ‘known’ reality be the result of Jabob’s touch? Hmmmmmm…..
The one thing I noticed about Jacob’s touch is that it always was accompanied by some words of encouragement or sympathy. Words can be very powerful in a person’s life and attitude and affect decision making. Good thought!
Every time I think I might have something meaningful to say here, my mind gets tangled up in knots and I decide I know nothing at all… and I love every second of it! I’m no idiot, but I don’t know what I’d do without you, Jeff and Dan!
i believe that the comment about richard’s shackles was intended as a double entendre. i am sure he was speaking of the physical shackles he was in on the black rock, but also of the metaphysical shackles placed on him by jacob. he has not aged and is therefore shackled to a immortal life on this plain of existence, most likely in servitude to jacob. i believe this especially to be true due to the timing of the comment. it had been centuries since the black rock landed on the island, but only moments after jacob’s death.
Do you think now that Jacob is dead that Richard will revert to the age he is supposed to be? Do you think that is why he had such a look of horror on his face? It was probably the water keeping him young and now that it is discolored, it may not work anymore .. or work correctly anyway. Maybe that is why there were “risks” associated with Sayid being placed in the dirty pool. It sure seems more like “selling your soul to the devil” to stay young, or magically heal from near death.. almost like a vampire or similar “entity”. Hmmmmm? We don’t know what the change in Ben turned out to be as a result of being in the pool after Sayid shot him. Maybe we will find out in the sideways reality because he is probably on the mainland.. or dead from the explosion, right? It’s all too confusing!!!
Oh, but Ben was a child and was probably evacuated from the island. Does that mean he didn’t kill his dad? Or just killed him a different way? However, I don’t think Ben’s dad was on the sub. I think the sub had already left when Roger shot Sayid.
This was excellent! Thank you.
look at it this way both universes share common history until 1977 when the bomb was set off at that point in time flash-sideways world technically began
So if the theory is that when you let’s say become “enlightened” enough or whatever you cross over into the sideways reality, than if they all cross over wouldn’t they end up leaving the Flocke on the island in the wrong reality trapped? Is the home he wants to go to the sideways reality?
It’s possible that in the new timeline Hurley won with different numbers. If the island blew up the numbers never would have been transmitted, Leonard Sims never would have learned them, and so on.
Oh! Good one! I wondered about that. Thanks. However, the writers said on Jimmy Kimmel that the numbers will end up playing an important part in the show. Not sure how though! I just keep remembering that Kate heard Hurley say the numbers over and over by the hatch and she heard 23 and said it meant something to her because it was $23,000 that Ray was getting for a reward for turning her in back in Australia. I started to wonder if each number meant something to each main character.???? That’s probably what the writers wanted us to wonder about though. They are so evil! Muahahahaha =) I still love them.
I love Totally Lost! Thanks guys for your love of the show and for sharing it with us. You have great theories. Now, I am thinking back to Ben and Richard and the others. They were doing “bad stuff” morally. Killing people, etc. Making John kill his dad isn’t something you would think that these people would condone if Jacob, who was in charge, was Godly. Or, stealing a baby from a poor stranded young woman who was all alone…that’s not nice.
“Um…let’s see, flasbacks check, flashforwards check. How about flash side ways? That should take care of all those episodes of season 6 we have no idea what to write about”. This show has become a caricature of itself. I abandoned the island three years ago. Then I thought the series had genuinely creative material for two seasons. After seeing two episodes of the final season I do not see a reason to care about the ending.
