The possibility of a new reality? The monster of all reveals/theory confirmations? The return of… Arzt!?! Yes, the boffo season premiere of Lost gave us oodles and cooked our noodles. I’m guessing that many of you are still huddled around a Poland Springs jug, nerding out with your friends about the whole shebang. Assuming you’ve already spent some quality time reading an explanation of the “flash-sideways” device from Lost exec producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof, as well as Doc Jensen’s recap of “LA X” and weekly column (warning: they’ll stretch your mind in ways you didn’t think were possible), we now invite you to seek illumination (or at least entertainment) in video form—specifically, the latest installment of Totally Lost. Jeff and I will discuss everything from parallel universes to weird water to the awesomeness of Terry O’Quinn. You’ll also get face time with O’Quinn, Matthew Fox, and a mystery guest, plus five teasers for tonight’s Lost episode, titled “What Kate Does.” What do you do? Press play and enjoy.

How can you not care about the sideways world? That’s more interesting than the island world imo.
i can’t believe no one noticed they kept changing things around in the office during totally lost LMFAO! haha the brain in the jar shrank. the dvd’s in front of Dan changed and there clothes kept changing and the bottles hahaha parallel world totally lost hahahaha
OMG! You’re totally right- that’s hilarious. Good catch!
Oh, I noticed it. Parallel world? That’s why they did it? I just thought they were attempting to drive us crazy.
Kidding. Very funny, guys, as always. I look forward to watching Totally Lost every week almost as much as I look forward to the Lost. It’s great to watch people who are excited about Lost (and who have access to the actors) talk about this great show!
I noticed that too! Especially the clothes and the “brain” in the jar shrinking!
The sideways world requires them to blow up the Island. But if they are never on the Island, then they can’t go back in time to 1977 and set off the bomb. So unless they somehow end up going back to 1977 and setting of the bomb again then this reality cannot be sustained. But maybe, just maybe when it gets reset and the Island reality becomes the only one, Jack and company will still remember the sideways world and Jacob comes back to life.
The bomb didn’t reset anything. It’s a fakeout. What really creates the sideways world has yet to be revealed.
The sideways world doesn’t require them to blow up the island.. because they didn’t crash. The plane landed. The sideways world is an effect of the bomb blowing up back in 1977. This is a new reality that began in 1977. The writers said they wanted us to see both possible outcomes. (the island..and the mainland with no crash) They thought the fans would be disappointed with either one in some way or feel cheated, so they decided to show both. I am sure we will find later how they are intertwined.
There are different thearies on time travel the one you are describing is the “Grandfather Paradox” ( if you go back in time and kill your grandfather you will never exist but if you never exist you can’t go back and kill your grandfather) there’s also another theory that if you chang the past it just forks off into an alternate reality ( kill you’re grandfather you create an alternate timeline where you were never born but you continue to exist cuz you come from another version of reality
Awesome.
Thanks for another great installment of Totally Lost! Awesome job guys!
Poland Springs? I was thinking Moland Springs. oops, wrong show.
“You can’t orgasm in every scene.” – I didn’t realize my love for Terry O’Quinn had room to grow.
That was my favorite too! Such a perfect way of describing Lost, haha.
Actually, that made me lose some respect for him and think of him as a dirty old man. He said they could cut that part out and didn’t. I wish they would have.
AWESOME BONUS TEASER Crap – Now if I was only that detailed oriented to find it!
With this and Idolatry, I’m having way too much web love for the writers at EW. I totally appreciate totally lost, you guys have no idea. It’s delightful!
And it most definitely was TQ’s episode. That chilling glare he gave Ben after delivering the “I want to go home” line…hoo boy. Locke’s gone.
agreed
Argh! I totally forgot, too, how much I love the little insets with Elizabeth Mitchell. The way Dan S. gave her the flower, and the whole slapping…it makes me a little less sad that Juliet’s gone (kinda?).
What I can’t figure out is how I care about this show SO much. I am SO obsessed. I can’t wait for tonight!! And that last line from Michael Emerson was awesome!
I’m still of the mindset that Jack was the only person to interact with Desmond on the sideways plane, and that Desmond wasn’t on the plane very long!
Jensen actually seemed moderately ‘restrained’ for a change…clearly he’s media screened the next few eps, and things don’t go completely loopy – YET =)
i can’t believe no one noticed they kept changing things around in the office during totally lost LMFAO! haha the brain in the jar shrank. the dvd’s in front of Dan changed and there clothes kept changing hahaha parallel world totally lost hahahaha
and the bottles lol
here’s another possibility aaron will be jacob after all to a point ben did want to return with the child? time is circular and there are no accidents after all
i agree i have been saying that for years that aaron is jacob.since what season 1 all that we heard is your not suppose to raise him when it came to aaron its for a reason
Why do people say they never asked each other basic “who are you?” questions in the first season? There was plenty of that (Boone and Locke, Sayid and Hurley, Michael, Jack, were we watching the same show?)
I think maybe they meant just Locke and Jack specifically never really spoke a lot about their past
I like the theory of Flocke being God. It’s a trippy one. I love this show, I’m having an orgasm every scene, even if Terry isn’t.
Mystery solved: Dan is Doc’s Constant!
