Last night, Comedy Central’s Important Things with Demetri Martin returned. Now, I can’t claim to be a rabid Demetri Martin follower, but I stumbled across the show and died when I saw his “Bruce the Funny Dog” sketch. Before we go any further, a disclaimer: I really hate dogs. I know, it makes me sound completely evil to many of you. But: I’m a cat person. The funny thing is, though, the sheer cuteness of the dog in this sketch — and its overall ridiculous hilarity — really melted me. Maybe I do love dogs and never knew it? Anywho, enjoy Bruce here:
My favorite look: soccer clown king. (“I don’t even know what this joke is! What’s your concept??”) Or maybe when little Bruce is wearing a pink wig and glasses, just after you heard that the family’s friend/family/whoever Ann died. “He’s dressed just like her,” says the wife. Hehehe.

I watched this last night and I thought the “Bruce the Funny Dog” sketch was absolutely hilarious. I was laughing during pretty much the whole show, but I found this sketch to be particularly funny.
I think you like this dog because he is being an insensitive a-hole. You know, acting like a cat.
LOL.
Side note – I thought they said “Nana passed”, so the dog was dressed like a little old granny.
i too stumbled across this last night and found it completely hysterical! the dog was adorable as was demetri with him. I loved his 1950′s leave it to beaver dad attitude “I wanted to talk to you”. now im a fan of demetri.
I’m a big Demetri Martin fan so I was looking forward to last night’s return of Important Things. I thought this bit was fantastic! The quick-changes near the end were the best part.
You can be a cat lover and a dog lover, so no need to choose teams. I’ve got one of each, and they get along great.
Oh, and I love Demetri Martin. He’s such the classic cute nerd guy.
Bruce was great but my fave part of the show: This is a man who had a one night stand on Halloween.
Demetri plays angry really well….wonder why?

Yeah, this video was funny. However, nothing wrong with the writer expressing an opinion about hating dogs, even though several posters here are ready to lynch anyone who dares to differ from them. So what if the writer hates dogs?! BFD? I’ve seen other loser a-holes say they hate cats or birds or whatever and no one gives a damn. Lighten up, idiots. Get thicker skin.
Humor really is subjective. I couldn’t make it to the end of this clip. And I like both dogs and cats, so I think it’s a humor thing, rather than an animal thing.
I have a Basset hound and my parents put glasses and hats on him (yeah, it’s weird, I know) so I found this skit absolutely hilarious.
Why is Demetri so angry at the dog? The dog obviously doesn’t understand humans. Why is he soooo angry?
Bruce the funny dog made me laugh so hard I wet my pants. Keep doing it. I laughed the entire show. by far the best comedian I have seen in a long time.
I’ve been a fan of Demetri’s for quite a few years now, so my opinion may be slanted when I say that the Bruce the Funny Dog sketch… was… the definition of hilarious.
I’m glad that because of this popular sketch, Demetri’s fan-base increased a little bit more.
I liked Demetri Martin since his first season but didnt see him anywhere. So i watched this thursday and me and my mom loved this bit but it wasnt my favorite of his. Mine is in coolness he does a comparison on how it’s easy to turn something cool uncool then vice versa.
