I’m just pulling this off the top of my head, but didn’t Jack get the cut on his neck in the hotel with Ben when he was shaving and they were trying to get Locke’s body back to the island? I half expected him to pull up his shirt and look for an appendectomy scar as well. Maybe the cut will be one of the things that helps jog his memory. And maybe Charlie yelling at Jack that he was supposed to let him die is an omen in itself. No matter how he did it, it was just his time and on the island he was able to do it in a sacrificing fashion rather than selfish. Jack interfered with fate there.
