I was kinda already tired of the alt universe but after reading the interview I think I’m going to enjoy it. And it didn’t even occur to me to think of Jacob inhabiting Sayid. If that’s the case, this season is going to be so great!

    • beth

I’m glad I’m not the only one who didn’t pick up on the Jacob-Sayid connection!

      • Skip182

I’m glad I didn’t, because it’s bad logic. What, just because Jacob died and Sayid came back to life it means that he’s Jacob? He did ask what had happened. Now if he were the all knowing Jacob incarnate, then he’d know what had happened. Sayid is not Jacob.

      • MsSuniDaze

Well, the reason I’m leaning toward Jacob being Sayid is because Jacob appeared to Hurley and told him to bring Sayid to the temple. Made me think that this was his loop hole to get back at Flocke. But again, this is the first episode and could easily change next week.

      • pj

i agree with skip. ben linus went through this same thing when he was little and he was never jacob. he just didnt remember anything

  • jack

What a great start! Another awesome opener especially with Desmond on the plane!!!!!! Charlie, you’re my boy blue!

  • scorpio9094

I liked Lost the first couple of seasons when it was maybe a little less complicated. I still watch the show, but I’m worried that this final season and the finale in particular will be contrived and a real letdown. I hope I’m wrong.

    • Vivi

      You’re wrong. :o )

    • Celia

I think you’re wrong. I can tell from the premiere that they’re headed somewhere Awesome! I’ve been watching since season 1 and even I’m a little confused. But that’s the whole point. People keep watching because they want to find out what’s going on.

  • kary

Lost is back!!! Blowing my mind and leaving me so confused. I can’t handle waiting a week in between episodes. So excited for this season!!! I am on Team Sayid/Jacob…for now.

One question – what should we infer about the fact that we didn’t see Michael or Walt on the plane? I’m not surprised we didn’t see any tailies, Darlton mentioned that Shannon wasn’t on the plane, and we can assume that Claire was on because we saw her in the taxi at the end. That leaves Michael and Walt. Were they on or weren’t they?

    • plum

      didn’t see them

    • Billiam

We should infer that Walt now looks nothing like he did in season 1 and thus is not able to make new scenes that take place back then.

      • amj

Who’s to say those weren’t filmed years ago. Don’t be so sure they didn’t have alternate scenes to use later.

      • Skip182

@amj, they interviewed darlton over the break and they confirmed 100% that not one single scene had been filmed for season 6 prior to principle filming. that was in response to a direct question involving walt and what would be a huge age discrepancy.

      • amj

@Skip182..thanks! That makes sense. So much to remember and to get caught up on…

  • Emily

Also why did Richard tell them not to shoot “Locke”? What does shooting him do or is it just a waste of their efforts? And when was Richard in chains? After the Black Rock landed? I’m guessing in the original reality (no reboot) that Claire ended up at the temple with these new Others.

    • birdbrain

maybe he can’t kill richard, like he couldnt kill jacob.

    • i’m a lady

i think we just saw in the previous scene that it angered him and triggered the smoke monster response.

      • LOST :)

Yes….in that scene they also showed that the bullet they shot at him and it was bent….even if they tried to shoot him, I don’t think they would succeed. It doesn’t seem like he can be killed.

    • Celia

Well last time he was shot, he turned into the smoke monster so maybe that’s why.

    • Mike

I’m guessing that Richard’s “chains” were his immortality. With Jacob dead, he’s no longer immortal, and therefore he’s free.

      • LOST :)

Interesting theory. If you’re right we should start to Richard age…

      • don

i think it’s literal and refers to him being on the Black Rock

      • amj

I kind of thought that maybe he saw Richard’s blind servitude to Jacob as being a figurative chain.

    • Tony

I don’t think Richard meant that literally. The “chains” refer to Richard’s servitude to Jacob.

      • amj

Sorry, didn’t see your comment before posting mine. Seems we had the same thought. Interesting.

    • Michelle

You can’t shoot him because he can’t be shot and all you’d do is piss him off and he’d turn into Smokey and kill you.

  • Regan

Who the hell are these Others 2.0!? Sweet.

    • mscisluv

They’ve got to be the same Others, right? At the end of Season 3, Ben told the Others to go to the Temple where it was safe. They did. Three years later, they’re still there and have changed their lifestyle to match their new surroundings (as opposed to New Otherton).

  • Tyler

At the end of the episode, something hit. When Sayid woke up, it led me to believe that possibly Jacob possibly took over his body in order to fight the MIB (fake Locke) but then this also leads to further speculation of whether or not there is another dead Sayid somewhere. So many new questions to be answered and yet I’m still so enthralled.

    • Tony

I’m not so sure that Jacob inhabited Sayid’s body, bringing him back to life. For the Man in Black to inhabit a body, that person had to die off of the island (like Christian Shepard and John Locke). Many have died on the island — and if it were that easy to occupy human form, the MiB would have done that a LONG time ago.

      • jules

Didn’t he inhabit Alex when she gave Ben a stern talking to after his judgement? She died on the island. Also, Jacob took quite an interest in Sayid out in the jungle.

      • jules

He being the Man in Black.

      • drhgl19

They have to be dead and not buried, not necessarily died off-island.

      • Chuck

Who is to say that the MIB didn’t take over Jacob’s form when he died?

  • birdbrain

did the MIB want to get off the island or does back home mean he want to get in the temple?? great start to season 6!

    • Admiral Quality

      He’s homesick for Uranus. ;)

      • Michelle

I wish the comment board had like buttons like on Facebook. LMAO Admiral!

  • Amanda

That was amazing, I hated juliet dying though. I really hope we don’t get a Sawyer/Kate pairing in the end. Does Sayid = Jacob or is that to obvious?

    • Emily

I think a Sawyer/Kate pairing would bring everything full circle.

      • Skip182

ya, the full circle of sucking. kate is a waste of a human being and either figuratively or literally kills every man that gets close to her.

  • i’m a lady

i just want to know if everyone from deadwood ends up on this show in some way or other. i heart timothy olyphant…

    • Stephanie

I realized last night that a number of actors from “Nash Bridges” play characters on “Lost.”

    • Zanner

Yes! I kept yelling about all the Deadwood appearences last night. I loved Sol Starr.

  • LostinDharma101

I love this show, I was completely confused by everything I saw but being an avid watcher, I just enjoy the show without dissecting it to pieces, I just love the ride and seeing tonight’s episode proves why the show is the best tv show on the air!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • Brian

Desmond not punching in the numbers in the hatch lead to the island sinking to the bottom of the ocean, not the bomb blast as we’re being led to believe. Thus, he disappears on the plane, as he ceased to exist any longer

    • plum

      not a bad theory!

    • Tony

To me, the bomb blast seems to be the more likely trigger for the island sinking to the ocean bottom. The bomb blast occured in 1977 – prior to Desmond’s sailing trip (which led to his boat passing the island and wrecking). In this case, his boat passed the island site unharmed, landing him in Australia, and availabl to catch the return flight out.

      • Admiral Quality

Desmond was on the island for too long (originally) for a return from his boat race to be the reason he was on the flight. Desmond was down there pushing that button for 3 years (was it?) before 815.

      • amj

        Yes, 3 years.

    • beth

I don’t know. The theory is that 815 crashed because Desmond didn’t punch the numbers in at that exact moment. However, in the alternate reality, the plane doesn’t crash, so we can assume that what would have caused it no longer exists. Which means we can assume that punching of numbers did not stop at any time. If numbers don’t need to be pushed, Desmond never gets stuck on the island. To go even further, if the island has been underwater for sometime, Desmond never crashes there on his sailboat race because it’s not there for him to crash on.

      • Bombastic

If the bomb went off, there would be no hatch to contain the electromagnetism. Therefore, there would be no need to punch in any numbers. It [numberpunching] never started, so it can’t stop.

      • amj

Agree, the numbers were due to the drilling that was done at the hatch back in 1977. If they fixed that then there would be no need for the numbers. But, then again, the hatch had still been built according to what Sawyer said. So, maybe it didn’t really change anything on the island so much as split the realities. Wow, again, my head hurts. I love LOST. Such a great mind trip.

      • wolverine

And if there are no numbers, that would support Hurley’s plane statement that “nothing bad ever happens to him” (as opposed to being cursed). But what about the producers’ statement regarding the construction of New Otherton on the sunken island?

      • Carrie

Desmond never crashes his sailboat because he never entered the race. If the Island sunk in ’77 Charles Widmore died before he could make any trouble for Des and Penny (I choose to believe she was already born and living off the island). In the hatch Jack and Des recognized each other right away from when they met running the Coliseum but they don’t (cuz Des never had to train for it). This also implies the baby Faraday was never born cuz Pregnant Eloise also dies w/ the ’77 island, along w/ pre-teen Ben…. OK now my head really hurts!

      • amj

OK, but I thought Widmore was on the island in the 50′s. Not necessarily in ’77. My head hurts too!

    • amj

Wow, that was a good one, made my head hurt! LOL.

      • amj

        That was for Brian.

      • Bob Loblaw

I also think that even if Widmore died in the explosion/sinking that Penny is still alive. He was originally expelled from the island for having a child “off island”, and Penny was certainly born before 1977…

      • amj

I love that your handle is Bob Loblaw! LOL. That is one of my favorite names from AD. LOL

      • BEAST333

Charles Widmore doesn’t get expelled from the island until about 1992, sometime after the purge. He is still on the island in 1988-89 when Ben steals Alex from Danielle. We know this because Ben and Ethan bring the baby to Charles at an Other camp, and they are wearing Other clothing. We know Danielle and the other Frenchies came ashore in 1988 because Alex was 16 years old when she was killed in 2004. We know that the purge happened around 1992 from ghost Horace (while building the cabin)telling us he had been dead for 12 years. When Ben evicts Charles from the island they are in regular clothing and living at the barracks. Alex on the swingset appears to be about 4-5 years old. This points to Charles leaving after 1992. He had obviously been leading a double life on and off the island for awhile. It takes some time to become rich and end up with a grown daughter. If the island sinks it doesn’t mean that he would never have sponsored the sailboat race. He may not have been on the island when it sank, in which case the race could have been an excuse to search for the island. In the reality where the island doesn’t sink he is definitely using the race as a means to find the island.

      • amj

@Beast–I like your theory of using the race to find the island. Interesting for sure. Great history background here.

  • Gilberto

    very confusing episode ?!?
at first i thought jack went back to the plane and Kate stayed in the island ( awesome ) but that didn’t happened :( and why let Juliet live through the explosion and 5 minutes later kill her (just so saywer could suffer more ).what abou the second half?? … the other Others ?!? didn’t get that ,Sayid is dead. or is he ?? . I thought there were something more Boom on the guitar suitcase.
Bottom line is … Love the episode .i watch lost cos sometime it makes me hate stuff on an episode that later on I’m gonna love it ,so well done guys, well done.

  • plum

i think i’m going to schedule ahead a day off work following the last ever episode. A long mourning will start…
