Jon Stewart to appear on 'The O'Reilly Factor': Will it really be a showdown?

The Daily Show fans such as myself might have already the news: Jon Stewart is scheduled to face off with Bill O’Reilly tomorrow and Thursday night. And, no, the interview will not run on the Comedy Central program — the two-part interview will be seen on Fox News’ The O’Reilly Factor.

Will it be interesting? Yes. Will it be funny? Most likely. But those of you expecting a combative showdown of Jim Cramer-esque proportions might have to prepare to be disappointed. Though it has been five years since Stewart appeared on The O’Reilly Factor — see interview embedded below — O’Reilly has faced off with the comedian a number of times on The Daily Show. And though they say plenty about each other behind their backs, their interactions always seem to be more friendly than one would expect — even if they share opposing viewpoints about, well, mostly everything.

So will the interview actually be a showdown? (If so, I would still hedge my bets on Stewart — the guy seems to do well even when off his home turf, if his famous appearance on Crossfire is any indication.) Or will we once again see a tame interview? I’m tuning in either way. How ’bout you, PopWatchers?

This is going to rock so hard. It’ll make Jimmey Kimmel on Leno look like a super friendly gab-fest.

Ah, man…I don’t want to give O’Reilly the ratings. I don’t own a Nielson box, but still, I feel like he’ll know I’m watching. And as a bleeding-heart liberal, I just can’t have that, haha. Here’s to 2 awesome interviews *clink*

No worries. It’ll be on YouTube in, like 15 minutes.

…that’ll only give him an exact number of views…problem NOT solved.

That’ll only give him an exact count of views. Problem NOT solved.

Stewart will be trying to get some credibility back after rolling over for John Yoo.

    • jodipo

… uh, you know he is a comedian right? he doesn’t roll over or “get some credibility back”. I know you Fox news watchers have a hard time differentiating between real news and made up stuff, but trust me on this, The Daily Show is not a news program.

…uh, just because he calls himself a comedian does not mean that the Great Unwashed Masses don’t take him seriously. If I had a dime for every dimwitted Leftie who claimed that they ‘get all the news they need from the Daily Show’ I could buy AlGore even more stock options in Carbon Offset companies. Calling yourself a comedian is not a get out of jail free card, as much as the smirk jerk would like to think so.

    Go Jon, go!

I doubt there will be any sparks. If things do start to get heated Bill O’Phonesexharassment will just start yelling so loudly that Stewart won’t be audible and if that fails he’ll just cut Stewart’s microphone off like he does to everyone else that dares to argue with him.

Who cares? It is (again) a sad commentary that Jon Stewart has to fill a huge gap in America journalism acting as a comedy show to point out the obvious from the slant of left wing New York City centered populism. O’Reilly is FOX light right ankle biter. What a shame America is given spin and stone soap by most of American media while the “entertainment” and talking puppet head shows have to ask the real questions

I might take offense to your point of view, if I could figure out what the f**k you’re talking about.

      • CanadianGal

        haha same here…

  • kse

I bet that Bill-O will completely dominate the conversation, and Jon won’t be able to complete a sentence.

    • kt

…which will be good for Jon, since he doesn’t know what he’s talking about…

  • When Writing to the Factor…

    @DFPawlowski: uh, what?

  • When Writing to the Factor…

Yes, I’ll watch. It’s not that I like Bill so much. It’s just that there doesn’t seem to be anything else worth watching most nights at 8 so we default to The Great One. Except for “NCIS.” So will Stewart be on on a Tuesday?

  • harry

    rumble royale!!!

  • dee

Should be interesting. I remember when Bill called John’s viewers nothing but stoned slackers, let’s see if John is allowed to speak. I’m sure Bill will enjoy John’s viewers, I mean, slackers tuning into his program, even if it is for just one day.

  • mopper

I will probably watch it. O’Rielly will be putting all his effort into not giving Stewart an opening knowing full well that Stewart will jump on it. There aren’t many people who are willing to call out Bill on his bullshit for whatever reason, but Stewart is one of them.

  • Avery Garmire

Stewart didn’t do so well last time but I expect O’Reilly to be even dumber this time. Even with a bad performance Stewart still wipes the floor with Bill’O.

HELP SIGN A PETITION TO GET BILL HELP. HE IS ADDICTED TO PAINKILLERS. WE ALL NEED TO HELP TO SAVE THIS PRECIOUS PERSON, OUR FIRST STEP IS ADMITTING THE PROBLEM; SAVE BILL O’REILLY- HELP END OPIATE ABUSE.

    Jon,
Please kick Bill O’Reilly’s ass. He is a psycho and a bully, and I wish he would have been aborted.

    • Joe

Typical response from the so called “tolerant” left.

  • Avery Garmire

I DONT THINK ANYTHING MUCH WILL HAPPEN; BILL IS SUCH AN ASS HE NEVER LETS ANY OF HIS GUESTS DIRECT DISCUSSIONS. BEST WAY TO BEAT BILL o’rEILLY WOULD BE TO SLAP HIM – I’VE HEARD HE’S QUITE THE PUSSY

    • Mij

Well, I agree, but please stop shouting.
