Jimmy Fallon parodies 'Glee': Living on a prayer for cue cards

Last night’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon parodied Glee, as Jimmy and his electric blue slushie stain rallied his crew to raise $375 to buy his sorry ass some cue cards. “SECTIONALS: $380,” read a conveniently placed sign in “Studio 6-Bee.” Look for Saturday Night Live‘s Fred Armisen as a Principal Figgins-like tightwad accountant with a Sue Sylvesterian knack for calling him by the wrong name, and Abby Elliott as a sickeningly sweet but naturally much cooler version of Emma. This is right up there with The Real Housewives of Late Night. Everybody take a knee!

By the way, I noticed that “How old is Bon Jovi?” was trending in Google after the Grammys Sunday night. Jon is 47. The band is 27. There are 70  days until the next new Glee. Can you handle it?

Nice to see someone using Abby Elliott…

I love Paula Pell (I think that’s her last name) – she cracks me up in all her cameos, whether on SNL, 30 Rock, or here.

    70 days? Omg, that’s hard.

that was hardcore cuteness. I love the random zoom-in during the song of the beardy guy.

I can’t believe Glee is literally EVERYWHERE now, can’t you people get some sense and start watching something that’s ACTUALLY entertaining and not completely lame!!!!!

  • Kerri

LOVE how the bearded guy didn’t sing, but do a walking choreography. Hilarious! And Tessa… it’s by no means lame. You must have been one of the cheerleader types that thought anyone smart was lame. Jokes on you, hon.

ehhh, it’s still lame. It can be fun too, but this isn’t a zero sum situation.

That was really FUN – and a great send-up of “Glee.”

Jimmy Fallon certainly has room to mature in his hosting skills, but he makes a great parody. Love The Hills send ups and Real Housewives

So much better than the real thing!

Oh my god, that legitimately gave me chills. I’m so embarrassed. Love Jimmy!

With parodies like these Jimmy Fallon brings an interesting vibe to late night. I’m not a huge fan yet (Craig is the King of Late Night!), but Jimmy has the potential to get really really good! And I love how he perfectly mimicked Cory Montreith’s (sp?) dancing style here.

I mean… it wasn’t bad. It was just not really that interesting.

I love Glee, and I feel like this parody didn’t bring anything new to the table.

All of the things they highlighted in the parody are already laughed at and done in a tongue-in-cheek way in the show.

Glee’s too hard to parody, because it already makes fun of itself…

    This bored me.

      I agree with you,
you’ve hit the nail on the head ;)

It was more homage than parody. Although I thought Jimmy did it better. I’d put this rendition of “We’re Not Gonna Take It” against any performance so far on Glee.

    Loved it!

Was that Jimmy Fallon’s real voice or not?
