Sigourney Weaver's 'SNL' will air at 2 a.m.... just kidding just kidding just kidding

Filed under: Television and tagged: , ,

Sigourney Weaver and Bill Hader attempt to make light of the NBC late-night situation in the promos for this week’s Saturday Night Live. I’m surprised the Avatar star (and serious actress from Ghostbusters) is not smoking a cig and wearing a Stanford University crop top here. Well, not really. Maybe there’s a skit for that?

Jennifer Love Hewitt would like you to know about her Bedazzled junk

George Lopez is really into it, too. Here’s second-string J. Lo, discussing her Swarovski Crystalled (apparently a verb) “va-jay-jay,” which I couldn’t bring myself to use in the headline because I thought we stopped indulging that term in like 2006. VJJ is soooo last decade. Press play below. I kind of like how Lopez indirectly endorses cunnilingus by remarking that a bedazzled V “seems kind of irritating for the dude.” Hey, she hasn’t had any complaints. The crystals sparkle-fy her business. Her lady business. And she likes that. Seriously, though, WTF is Jennifer Love Ewwwitt talking about?

Good stuff. Slightly more entertaining, though, was Michael Slezak’s response to the press release TBS sent yesterday. I like how his name is in quotes; it makes the entire situation seem even more unlikely.

Would you bedazzle your junk? If I had a sexy ‘Avatar’ queue, maybe. MAYBE.

'Entourage': Unnerving enough even without all the boobies

I’d never seen an episode of Entourage until last night. There, I said it. It’s one of my pop-culture blind spots, but after watching the first two episodes debut on Spike (which is showing the series from the beginning, sans HBO-sanctioned nudity and cursing, on Tuesdays at 9 and 9:30 p.m. ET), now I see: I never want to be in an entourage.

After 12 years in entertainment journalism, and always hearing how realistic this show is, it’s not like I was surprised by anything I saw: It’s more that it was just depressing to see it acted out and confirmed. On the one hand, you gotta like Vince for trusting his friend Eric enough to turn down a $4 million offer because Eric thought the script sucked; on the other, you kinda hate him for not even bothering to read the script and form his own opinion. Vince not being at his agent’s beck and call is commendable, but handing the phone to Eric every time Ari dials? Grow a set of balls and deal with your own life.

And then there’s the girls. I get it: When guys have long periods of downtime and plenty of money, they’re gonna wanna party and meet women. But seeing each guy in a separate corner of the swimming pool, paired up with a girl he just met, Turtle not caring that his chick flat-out told him that she was holding out for Vince and then bargaining with her for a makeout session? Ewww.

Anyone else catch Entourage for the first time last night? What did you think? Do the guys get more likable, or will it always be the love-hate relationship with them that I’ve begun? Has the show turned anyone else off the idea of befriending an “It” actor? I get why the entourage works: The celeb wants to surround themselves with people they trust, and if those people are always going to be with them, they can’t work their own jobs, so the star has to give them a “job” and support them. Maybe it’s not a bad trade-off if your career doesn’t make you happy. But I think I’m just too selfish for that.

'I'm With Coco': Inside the Conan O'Brien support movement

Tagged: ,

The Internet is a-buzz with support for Conan O’Brien, but there seems to be one image that’s the beating heart of the entire campaign. LA-based designer Mike Mitchell‘s “I’m with Coco” poster has reached levels of ubiquity we haven’t seen since Shepard Fairey took on Obama. EW caught up with Mitchell, 27, to ask him about designing a movement.

“I’m a huge Conan fan,” Mitchell says. “I went to one of the first test shows [for The Tonight Show] here in LA, and I’ve been a big fan for a long time.” Of the late-night debacle at NBC, he adds: “The whole thing’s just a crappy situation.”

Mitchell set out to design a campaign-style poster, which initially read “I’m with Conan in 2010,” in the hopes that it would “maybe start a movement thing?” A friend suggested just “I’m with Conan,” and Mitchell landed on the far-catchier “I’m with Coco.” It’s a slogan even Swiss Miss could be jealous of.

Mitchell says he’s heard from an O’Brien staffer who told him O’Brien had seen the image, and Mitchell’s hopeful that maybe the host will reach out himself. Ultimately, though, the fan-turned-iconographer just wants the comedian to land somewhere, “and hopefully he can bring his whole staff with him. It’s embarrassing as an Angeleno: We bring Conan all the way here [from New York] and after seven months say ‘never mind’?”

You can join the rapidly-growing I’m With Coco Facebook fan page here, and, of course, watch The Tonight Show tonight.

Matt LeBlanc auditions to play...Matt LeBlanc

As our TV sleuth Michael Ausiello reported Saturday from TCA, Showtime unveiled a preview for their new Matt LeBlanc series, Episodes, with this hilarious clip in which the producers ask the Friends actor to audition for the role of…himself (caution: language NSFW:

This makes me forgive LeBlanc (a little) for Joey. The best part, hands-down, has to be the room of leather-clad actor wannabes rehearsing “How you doin’?” Also, LeBlanc’s silver streaks? I like!

If this clip is any indication, Episodes is exactly the fresh comedy an ex-Must See TV star needs. It looks like our former Friends are taking the Julia Louis-Dreyfus route of post-sitcom stardom. First there was Lisa Kudrow (The Comeback, R.I.P.), then Courteney Cox Arquette (Cougar Town), now LeBlanc and most recently Matthew Perry with his newly announced ABC show.

What do you guys think of the clip? Does it make you excited for Episodes?

With 'Spider-Man' in his past, what should Tobey Maguire do next? Take the PW poll!

Filed under: Movies, News and tagged:

Tobey-MaguireImage Credit: Sylvain Gaboury / PR PhotosWhile some people are busy brainstorming who should play Peter Parker in Spider-Man 4, others are wondering what Tobey Maguire should do now that the film is off his IMDB page. (Actually, it isn’t yet. Let’s get on that!) The LA Times ran through some of his options, noting that the big question is whether he should try to attach himself to another blockbuster/potential franchise or continue in a “more specialized direction” (meaning dramas like Brothers, which earned him a Golden Globe nomination but didn’t score big at the box office or with critics). I think it needs to be a combination of both. Maguire is one of the few actors I like and yet have zero interest in reading about his personal life. I actually like that about him — it keeps our relationship simple. I only have to judge his performance onscreen to know if I’m a fan. I suspect I’m not alone though, which means he needs to do a movie every now and then that mass amounts of people want to see so he stays on our minds. Which is why I’d vote for him to snag the role of Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit.

Other potential projects the LA Times suggests for Maguire and a poll on the role he should film next after the jump. READ FULL STORY »

'Survivor: Heroes Vs. Villains': Sugar wants a showmance with J.T.

“I will win because people like me,” Jessica “Sugar” Kiper told me in Samoa right before starting Survivor: Heroes Vs. Villains. She’s right about people liking her…kinda. Sugar is an interesting type of Survivor contestant. Interesting in that she falls under the category of people that are very, very popular with the viewing audience, but less so with the actual contestants. There was a sizable Gabon contingent that really couldn’t stand her, and talking with the Heroes Vs. Villains cast before the game (which premieres Feb 11 on CBS), there were several people who did not seem to be too impressed with the pin-up/actress/burlesque singer. So I was worried about her ability to form solid personal relationships in this game. That worry was confirmed when I visited the Heroes camp on day two: While the other Heroes were all smiling and joking with each other, Sugar definitely appeared to be out of the social loop, sitting off to the side silently or lying down while the other contestants worked and chatted it up. Even J.T. (with whom Sugar may or may not have had a pre-game fling that she was looking to continue into the game: “There was something for a minute there. It might fizzle. We’ll see. I hope there’s a showmance.”) didn’t appear to be giving her any attention at camp. [The scoop on Sugar's strategy, as well as exclusive on location video after the jump.] READ FULL STORY »

'Bachelor' deleted scene: Rozlyn 'snuggled' with staffer in front of contestants

A deleted scene from Monday’s episode of The Bachelor shows the women discussing Rozlyn Papa’s “inappropriate relationship” with a show staffer that led to them both being dismissed from the show.

Elizabeth from Nebraska says, “We all saw her on the couch last night snuggled up to [BLEEPED], right?” Vienna says Rozlyn had her arm on top of the inside of his thigh and was laying her head on his shoulder for “a long amount of time.” Gia says Rozlyn slept on the couch that night.

Bachelor host Chris Harrison has insisted the relationship “got physical,” which Papa has denied.

'Parks and Recreation': Did you know RZA auditioned to be Leslie Knope?

Well, if you believe this hilarious little short, hosted by the Roots’ Questlove and posted on Funnyordie.com:

Ha! The randomness of this is too much — just like Parks & Recreation itself! I love when RZA runs into Amy Poehler, who is auditioning after him, and she says: “I’ve heard the Wu-Tang Clan ain’t nuthin’ to f— with.” That, right there, is so Leslie Knope — totally earnest and totally out of it. (What a sweetie!) Plus, I split my side when RZA said he was headed to try out for Julie & Julia and when Questlove “revealed” that Amy Poehler only got the role after people like Christina Applegate, Lucy Liu, Doris Roberts, and Ghostface Killah (!) turned it down.

Did you PopWatchers get a good laugh out of this video? Would you watch a similar video about Raven-Symoné trying out for the role of Ron Swanson? (I would!)

Bradley Whitford with a moustache, we have seen into your future...

And you look like Mr. Belvedere.

Whitford and his ‘stache are at the TCA Press Tour promoting Fox’s upcoming cop comedy Code 58, co-starring Colin Hanks and created by Burn Notice‘s Matt Nix. It will preview in May after Idol (that’s so Glee!) but the official premiere date is June 7. Can you handle this truth?

For more TCA coverage that does not draw material from ’80s sitcoms, visit The Ausiello Files. If you must. Probably better to just follow me on Twitter: @EWAnnieBarrett.
