First things first: May ABC’s darling comedy Ugly Betty rest in peace. When it signs off at the end of this television season, Betty will have had four up-and-down-and-then-back-up seasons on television. And not for nothing, the show undoubtedly features one of the most talented casts out there, including America Fererra (at left, in Betty’s original iteration in the show’s pilot episode), Eric Mabius, Vanessa Williams, Judith Light, Becki Newton, Michael Urie, and others.
The Hollywood Reporter ran a story today, citing the hot commodity that are these now-free-to-join-pilot-season Ugly Betty actors. Which definitely piqued my interest: What should this cast do next?
Is there a place for Becki Newton’s comedic chops, possibly, on CBS’ hit The Big Bang Theory as a foe to Kaley Cuoco’s Penny? Could she possibly parlay her Betty stint into a What Not to Wear-esque hosting gig on a fashion show? What about Eric Mabius? What kind of a show should he join—or what kind of new show should he headline? Could he go dark and sexy with a turn on True Blood? Will Judith Light head into the world of Lifetime and Hallmark movies? Or what are the possibilities for her? Is America Fererra (who supposedly wants to focus on her film career) too big for television now?
This is where you come in, PopWatchers: Where should these actors go? What should they do? Are there television shows out there that are screaming for Michael Urie and Mark Indelicato’s acting talent? Does Vanessa Williams’ spot-on bitchery belong in the Gossip Girl universe by chance? Tell me in the comments below! And remember: No suggestion is too crazy. Think big! Like Betty big!

‘Ugly Betty’ poll: Who should she end up with?

America should join “Glee” that would be awsome but also Becki Newton should defo do some form of sitcom while I think Vanessa should do Desperate Housewives or something while Michael Urie should defo do a dramedy.
Who cares really? EW sure has a thing about over promoting crap. If this show was so good then people would actually still watch it. It was canceled for a reason…..NOBODY WATCHES THIS CRAP ANYMORE!!!
Wow, with your logic, American Idol must be the best television show of all time.
While I never watched this show (because of another show that I’ve watched for 10 years that comes on at the same time with even LESS viewers than U.B.) what you claim is really just straight up rude and stupid. Comments like yours aren’t necessary nor wanted here. As for people not watching a good show, the more award-winning shows, and the most critically-acclaimed shows tend to end up being generally the least watched. For example: Mad Men gets about 2 million viewers, it’s won awards constantly since its inception. Dexter is viewed by about 3 million usually, and is a heavily-acclaimed award winner itself. The list goes on: Damages is insanely good, award-winning, and gets 1-2 million viewers at most usually, The Office is a gigantic phenomenon, yet it barely gets 6-7 million on a main network…the same with Modern Family, 30 Rock…so the next time you decide to post something like that here, please just DON’T.
Yet you care enough to post your craptastic comment???? Whatever….
u MUST care, u came to comment about something u don’t care about, douchebag
You’re crazy!
5 million people watch it weekly.
New ABC’s court drama has 6 million… I’m sure Ugly Betty could go further!
Omg Eric Mabius on True Blood… not a lot I wouldn’t do to see that
Lets start campaigning.
I’m gonna sort of piggyback on Elle’s suggestions, only I would send Vanessa Williams to “Glee” for some sort of multi-episode arc.
I can see her maybe forming an alliance with Sue and temporarily taking over New Directions or something. Needless to say, she could handle the musical aspect of the show.
Maybe she could play Mercedes Mom
I’m down with that – but I’m also down with giving the second tier “Glee” club members more to do instead of constant Rachel/Finn drama.
I mean, look how great it turned out when they introduced Mike O’Malley as Kurt’s dad.
Vanessa to CSI something or other. She can do drama.
Oh, I know she can definitely drama – however, I’ve also missed her showing off her musical chops since that “Ugly Betty” musical never came to pass.
Eric Mabius would be fabulous for True Blood! This needs to happen.
As for Glee, I’d rather see Vanessa Williams, Michael Urie, or Mark Indelicato (or all 3!) on it than America. I think America will stick to movies.
I think Vanessa Williams or Becki Newton could have a blast on Nurse Jackie or maybe Weeds.
Maybe Judith Light can go back to SVU more permanently. Tony Plana could be great on one of the procedurals as well.
Not sure about Ana Ortiz. Modern Family maybe?
Just about any of them would be great for a Mad Men guest shot.
There’s an idea for casting Kurt’s boyfriend – Mark Indelicato!
Love that idea, but the two characters are way too similar!
Ana Ortiz could totally go on Modern Family as Gloria’s younger sister who comes to live with them from Columbia
she could bring Mark Indelicato with her as her son
Too bad the cancellation wasn’t announced earlier. Eric Mabius would have made an excellent Alcide on True Blood.
EDITOR! Stringing together 15 questions does not a blog entry make. “Or what are the possibilities for her?” Lazy, lazy sentence. Is America Fererra (who supposedly want to focus on her film career) too big for television now?
Change it to “wants”
who cares…it’s a blog.

Becky Newton and Vanessa Williams need to steer clear of bitchy villain roles if they don’t want to by typecast.
*be
*get a life shawshank
I’d love to see Vanessa on Broadway again, and I actually think Michael Urie would be awesome on Desperate Housewives. Eric Mabius on True Blood would be amazing.
Amen to that. Maybe America could turn up on the Criminal Minds spin-off.
Vanessa Williams is coming to broadway very soon with Sondheim on Sondheim
I saw Vanessa Williams in “Into The Woods” on Broadway. She was incredible!!! And I even got to meet her at the stage door and get her autograph. Let me tell you…she is just as gorgeous in person!
Your mention of Vanessa Williams in conjunction with Gossip Girl makes me sad that the part of Vanessa’s mom was already cast. Willy as tree-hugging hippie mom would make my life. Also love the idea of Eric Mabius on True Blood; I totally see it, and I have no idea why.
Maybe you saw Eric Mabius playing dark & twisty in a sequel to “The Crow”. I think Kirsten Dunst was in it, too.
that is the exact thought I had!!!!! Maybe she could be the old nemesis of Lily Vanderwoodsen-Klause-Bass-Humphrey… or just some evil upper east sider, or an executive at Bass enterprises, that has to mess with Chuck…. the options are endless!!!!
I’m going to miss this show so much. I am pathetically very upset about it.
I think Becki Newton would be great in Eastenders (Soap in the UK) we have real biatches in that show but she would be another level. I think America would be good in Glee but better in Gossip Girl as V’s sidekick bare with me people – i am going somewhere good America would get to wear glamourous clothes unlike Betty and maybe do a season a play a Georgina-esque type mad person and leave with a bang and then get her own show doing what ever she wants as for Vanessa Williams I think she would fit nicely in 90210
Becki Newton has to star alongside Michelle Pfeiffer as a mother/daughter duo. The resemblance is uncanny. Someone write it!
Becki for catwoman!
Becki could totally be on BBT. I could see Penny finally landing a gig on a show and Becki could be the already there diva star. That would be a great rilvalry. Vanessa or Judith would be great for Desperate Housewives as long as a really dark, meaty story was crafted around them (could put DH back into shape too!)
mark indelicato could be kurt’s love interest!!!!!!! OMG that would be a power couple. and mark can sing and dance.
Two bottoms do not a top make!!!! DUH!
I would LOVE to see a dramaedy piolt with Newton and Urie as the headliners, they have amazing comic timing together and were the main reason why I watched Ugly Betty.
I totally agree, Newton and Urie together are TERRIFIC ! They should have their own show !
I’m starting the campaign now to get Becki Newton cast as the Mom on HIMYM. It would be legen…
… dary!
Absolutely! She’d be perfect.
That has WIN all over it!!!!!
She’d have to go brunette, but she’d fit in well with the cast.
I had that same thought!
I disagree. She and Michael Urie deserve their own series, they’re talented enough to headline something fantastic.
YES!!!!!!!!!!! Becki could paint robots playing volleyball
