She claims she’s a “good girl” yet Sandra Diaz-Twine also told me in Samoa before Heroes Vs. Villains kicked off, “You do me wrong, you only do me wrong one time because then it’s over. I’m slicing you up. Slicing and dicing. I’m cutting your throat.” Oooooookay. Better be on my best behavior then. Here’s my take on Sandra. She plays the game of Survivor much more emotionally than strategically. When asked why she’ll win Heroes Vs. Villains, her answer was “Because I’m Sandra. Because that’s just the way it is.” That’s not exactly the height of pre-game strategy. And when asked about how she’ll handle the other contestants, check out this response: “If they’re not crazy yet, by the time I’m done with them, they’ll be crazy. I’m gonna be nice. I’m gonna give everybody the opportunity to come and get to know me. But if you don’t even bother to come and get to know me, you’re done. You dug your own grave. They need to come to me. I don’t need to come to nobody.” Alrighty, then! [Sandra's big advantage heading into Heroes Vs. Villains, plus exclusive on location video, after the jump.]
But Sandra has one big advantage going into this season. Much like Candice, Danielle, and Randy, no one is worried about her in the least. Her name did not come up once in any of my interviews with the other contestants before the game began. That could prove to be folly, seeing as how Sandra already won once before in Pearl Islands. But Rupert and Johnny Fairplay grabbed most of the headlines from that season, making her a bit of an after thought. And, as Sandra notes about her new cast, which is primarily composed of people from recent seasons, “Some of them I honestly think they probably didn’t even watch the Pearl Islands.”
While Sandra may not be one of the game’s master tacticians, she is mentally tough and is unlikely to be intimidated by anyone, and that includes Russell. Plus, she will do her part around camp — we’ve got the evidence to prove it! She won the Pearl Islands season!?! Wow. She must have changed her hair or something cause I don’t remember her.
I want Richard to win
Why did the producers think we’d want to see her again? Because she was one of the most undeserving winners ever? Yawn.
Speak for yourself. Sandra is one of the funniest people to ever play the game, and she brought a lot of drama and entertainment to her season. Also, the “undeserving” stuff is just a bunch of crap; if you got to the end and got the votes then you DID deserve the win.
Personally Sandra is one of my all time favorites, and I’m really happy she’s back on.
Those who don’t remember her can check out this funny link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNFFU9SWDM4
Another great vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5h5GGguchs
Sounds like she’s primed to say something “wrong” to Russell, which equals bye-bye Sandra.
I highly doubt it. Russell won’t be running anything this season.
We can bank on him believing he is running it though.
Sandra’s not a villian at all. She was the second most popular contestant from “Pearl Islands.”
Yep, I agree. They probably just put her on the villains tribe hoping she’d cuss out the men there.
Sandra was somewhat in the middle. She wasn’t a hero (she cursed a few too many times to be called a hero), and she wasn’t really a villain. What she was is entertaining, and by being on the villains tribe, it gives so many victims of her loudness, which should make for good TV.
what a useless player to put in an elite line up like this. no strategy or strength. a free loader!
Don’t you guys get it? Her Pearl Islands strategy basically consisted of “anyone, so long as it ain’t me.” Her work ethic makes her more valuable around camp than you think. But most important of all, NO ONE’S AFRAID OF HER! That means no one thinks she’s going to be a threat on any level. Not physically, not mentally, not strategically, not in front of the jury, not at all. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if she went this entire season without any ouster votes while losing only one jury vote.
In other words, she knows exactly what she’s doing.
Personally I disagree, your game depends a lot on luck and Sandra had that in spades. Between the Drake tribe getting cocky early on, the Outcasts tribe and the fact Lill was an even less deserving player then her. She knew how to play it well sure but no way I see her getting far this time around. With Russell around the moment she gets out of line with him, she’s gone.
Yes because a bunch of All Stars are TOTALLY going to listen to Russell. Seriously? Like Parvati, Danielle, Rob, Coach, Tyson, Jerri are just going to listen to whatever Russell says again.
yea you got the idea
Sandra was one of those contestants without filters, and I loved it! That’s why I like Courtney too, because they shoot their mouths off and don’t care. I’ll be rooting for her.
I wonder how far this previous winner will go…
In the bag!
LOVE Sandra! One of my favorite players to ever win Survivor, and she’s always honest, straight up, and tells you exactly out it is.
Her strategy in Pearls Islands of “As long as it’s not me” is perfect because it gives you so much flexibility, and of course we saw how it paid off for her.
I can’t wait to watch her put Russell in his place this season. I think she’ll get along best with Jerri, Courtney, and funny enough, Boston Rob.
Look for Sandra to go the distance again this season.
If Sandra makes the merge, she’ll go a long way…unless she’s voted out for being a former winner. A lot of people think Jonny Fairplay was the strategic mastermind of Pearl Island, but Sandra outwittned Jonny Fairplay. Remember when she pretended like she was giving up and going home so that Fairplay would not suspect that she had convinced the women to form an alliance and vote out Burton. That was priceless. One of my favorite moments from P.I. They would have voted Fairplay out next but they consider little Darrah to be stronger than Jonny. She was definitely a player…and sneaky.
Here is my take on Sandra: she rocks. She played a great game in Pearl Islands, made strong alliances, and always managed to make it so she was never voted against. I think Sandra will be an early target because she is weak and has already won the game, but if she makes it to the merge…I see her going all the way.
The best female winner they’ve ever had. Period. Exclamation mark! Exclamation mark!
THE BEST WINNER EVER!!! Sandra is definitely my favorite survivor and I was so happy when she won pearl islands and I cant wait to see her get loud to russell this time around. I am definitely rooting for her and I hope she wins again.
Considering she’s the LEAST-feared Survivor in this crop, you just might be getting your wish.
Sandra is one of mine favorite player ever. I hope she makes it far.
GO SANDRA!!!
I remember she handled the FTC really well in her previous season. And she’s a great deal of fun.
I personally think Sandra was seriously miscast as a villain. I don’t know what the producers’ logic was with her. However, I was glad to see her win in Pearl Islands and not “Johnny Foulplay” (as I like to call him) after some of the stunts he pulled in that series of episodes.
