Josh Schwartz and 'Chuck' EP launching CBS comedy: New 'HIMYM' companion perhaps?

josh-schwartzImage Credit: Albert L. Ortega/PR PhotosJosh Schwartz will continue his quest for total televisual dominance with CBS’ recent pick-up of his half-hour comedy pilot Hitched. He cowrote the script — about a “twentysomething newlywed couple who is still learning about each other, according to The Hollywood Reporter — with Chuck exec producer Matt Miller. Sounds like it could be a solid How I Met Your Mother companion (you know, with the mother already having been met in this case) — not to mention that Chuck really is quite funny (and even Gossip Girl and The O.C. have strong humor elements).

What do you think, PopWatchers? Are you excited for another Josh Schwartz show?

Sounds like Josh wants shows on three different networks on Monday nights. And of course, I’ll watch them all. Because it will be awesome. Chuck will still be my fave.

    • Stephanie Tanner

If they cast Jodie Sweetin, I’ll watch

  • shannon

sign melinda clarke to the cast as the mother/coworker/friend/neighbour/whatever, and I’m in!!

    • Todd

Agreed, Melinda Clarke was in his own words the MVP of The OC and she will more than ensure my eyeballs glued to this new series.

      • Alia

I think Melinda Clarke might be the MVP of life.

      • lefty

Bold claim…everyone knows Adam Brody was the MVP of the OC.

      • Nick

I’d call Alan Dale the MVP of The OC… or Peter Gallagher.

    • lefty

      Or Peter Gallagher’s eyebrows :)

    • Jamie

Melinda Clarke has been cast on The Vampire Diaries =) I will give any Josh Schwartz show a chance!!

  • The Mysterious Burgos

    thatta boy schwartzy!

  • GTC

Ooh. I’m excited. But pleasedint let it compete with chuck!! Btw, can somebody do a chuck recap? Heroes are getting pummeled in the ratings yet it gets a recap? Chuck has extremely loyal and rabid fans that requires one! Please ew!

  • GTC

Oops typo. Don’t let it… Is what I meant to type.

  • Alia

I’ll definitely give it a shot… thought it might have to be on DVR, if it’s competing with Chuck.

  • Jaymii

I actually find The OC far funnier than Chuck, I might even put Gossip Girl above it… But I’m a loyal Schwartzian so I defintely can’t wait. A sitcom sounds exactly for him. I kinda wish it’d be single-camera, though – but CBS doesn’t seem to go for that…

    • Jaymii

Exactly right, I meant and I should make it clear that I’m a big Chuck fan as well so I don’t get shouted at by it’s fandom. ;p

Great news. Let us hope Mr Schwartz will concentrate for more than two seasons on this one. Except “Chuck”, his shows usually decrease in ratings after the second season.

  • elena

his humor is unique, and I dig it. Gossip Girl, The OC, Chuck…they all have this special spark to them. I’m pumped to watch this new show, as long as it doesn’t become formulaic.

  • audrey

You mean are we excited to see another brilliantly smart and funny show with tons of potential peak in its first season and slog through two and a half more before finally getting good after it gets cancelled? Suuuuure.

  • Brynna

does he realize he probably just wrote chuck’s competition? lol. OH well. Josh in awesome in all things TV and I shall watch. Though Chuck remains my #1 show always.

  • ryan

  • hunt3r

    • Anna c.

his wife would surely be devastated if that were true.

  • cbolt

josh seems to know pop culture shows pretty well. I think he was the orginal Seth Cohen wasnt he?

  • Courtney

I will watch anything that Josh Schwartz puts out, no questions asked.
