A clown would like you to visit Walmart as he screeches in pain. Will you comply?

This horrifying-but-hypnotic Walmart clown commercial caused a stir on the Internets after airing during yesterday’s NFL conference championship games. Are you guys into it? It made me laugh, but I don’t think I can play it twice. I just don’t like to hear people scream for that long, especially if I know it’s coming. Maybe if I truly hated/feared clowns, I’d love to see them in pain and then I’d love this commercial and then I’d rush out to Walmart to buy 96 rolls of toilet paper to store in my bathtub. As it is, I can’t stop picturing Cam from Modern Family in this guy’s enormous clown shoes. So perhaps in the next Walmart commercial, the clown, adorned with a primary-colored Flavor Flav clock necklace, will defend his boyfriend’s dignity at a local gas station. And I’ll have t.p. for DAYS.

I do love how that one daughter who remains seated is all “Dad, please” — completely unfazed. She’s my hero. The clown can stay…on mute.

I hate clowns, I find them to be so effing creepy.

    Funny yet disturbing. Am confused.

  • Aw yeah

I missed it live, and now I’ve already watched it three times.

That was the funniest commercial I’ve seen in a really long time! My husband didn’t stop laughing for almost an hour after he saw it the first time, and when it came on later he was giggling before the joke even hit. Classic!

My partner is terrified of clowns, and while I may privately make fun of him for it, I try to shield him from them as much as I can. He was in the bathroom when this commercail came on the other night and called out “What’s all that screaming?” I answered “It’s an EC (our code for Evil Clown).” He took his time coming back and only after very cautiously making sure the EC was gone. I laughed all night…

That’s funny, but isn’t “Evil Clown” kinda redundant? :)

Loved it, we saw it live and backed up the DVR to watch it a couple of more times. Too funny.

This reminds me of a college garage band’s song called “I hate clowns.” Lyrics: “I hate clowns. Clowns suck. I hate clowns. Those stupid idiots running around with their big ugly noses and a stupid frown.” Classic.

I saw that commercial probably 4 times yesterday. I forgot that it was for Wal-Mart. What do you suppose that means? Does the ad do it’s job?

Ah….fodder for a whole new generation of kids to be emotionally scarred by clowns.

I know what you mean. I couldn’t stop laughing! Even the second time!! I laugh every time I think of it!!!

I hate clowns, so I didn’t want to watch the video. But the promise of one screaming in agony was too pleasurable to ignore. It was worth it. 30 seconds of sheer bliss!

One of the funniest commercials I’ve ever seen. I’ve been crying every time I think of it. Maybe the only other commercial that has made me laugh so much is the Starburst/”Hello” commercial that was abruptly taken off the air when people couldn’t handle seeing the kid chew on a face made out of Starburst.

My husband and I saw it live. We then replayed the commercial for our teenage daughter to watch it – to see her reaction. We all find clowns creepy (although we do love Cam!) and were all in tears from laughing so hard. I am giggling just writing this while thinking about the commercial!
