We're Musting Chazz Palminteri on 'Modern Family.' What's on your radar this week?

I usually wait until a milestone episode to put one of my favorite TV shows on the Must List. Lucky for me (and subsequently, you), Modern Family is having exactly that this week thanks to guest star Chazz Palminteri.

In the episode (SPOILER-phobes, please abandon ship here), Palminteri plays Shorty, one of Jay’s old friends, who Mitchell is thinks is secretly gay. Of course, Jay denies the claim, but Mitchell might not be completely off base. Watch this clip for more.

I’ve been watching Palminteri on screen since I was about 8 years old and first saw A Bronx Tale with my dad [insert argument for better parental discretion here; although, I never had a problem with it.]. I even had a dog named Sonny, in honor of his character in the movie. But I am excited to see Palminteri play a character armed with knowledge of fine clothing – rather than with an automatic weapon. Modern Family‘s been on a winning streak with their guest stars, and I know Sonny won’t let me down.

So now it’s your turn. Are you as excited about Modern Family as I am? What other shows/books/movies/viral videos are you musting this week? Sound off below! As a thanks for your efforts, here’s a clip from this week’s upcoming episode.

You’re making my day with this article.

It’s definitely been a good week for guest stars – Amanda Peet on HIMYM, and Angie Harmon and Brandon Routh on Chuck, and now another great one on Modern Family. Good job showrunners!

i get excited every week for this show, no matter who is guesting! BEST SHOW EVER!

    • Sarah

      Yep, same here!

    • Sally in Chicago

      Ditto. So funny.

    1. “Nothing Suits Me Like a Suit” from HIMYM – This song is on repeat on my iPod. I just cannot get enough of NPH singing.
    2. Bright Star on DVD – Jane Campion’s woefully under-appreciated John Keats romance finally comes home, where it will hopefully find a wider audience.
    3. Broken Embraces – If you haven’t seen Pedro Almodovar’s latest candy-colored masterpiece, you’re missing out.

videogum.com- One of the funniest websites on the world wide web, Gabe’s sarcastic, semi-madcap recaps and posts are tough to beat, except when you read what his commenters say.

Marc Webb to direct new Spider-Man (Men?)- This is an exciting move for Sony, while I miss the old cast, it was time for a new web-slinger.

Beach House- Teen Dream- This Baltimore duo continues to explore and grow and we’re the better off for it. Teen Dream indeed.

Sidenote: Where is the Must List online? It hasn’t been updated since the Top Chef finale!

Loving Archie Panjabi as awesotastic Kalinda on CBS’ “The Good Wife.” Actually, loving that whole cast. They’re all so good at acting, it makes me a little sad sometimes.
Can some little portion of your magazine be devoted to “pants on the ground?” I don’t care which little bit, but please, it’s spectacular. Jay-Z is so jealous he didn’t think of that hook first…

Well, mine already happened this week: Better Off Ted. I have not watched it yet, saving it for the weekend and the boyfriend. We watched last week’s episodes and were badly dehydrated from crying we were laughing so hard and doing the odd spit-take. Portia De Rossi is so great on that show. Looking forward to Modern Family and 30 Rock, too.

This week’s episode was amazing. Possibly the best of the season.

    Musting?

    Really?

American on Purpose by Craig Ferguson

First bad episode of the season. husband and wife don’t like each other now and bicker like every other sitcom couple? and ooh I think he’s gay and I’m wrong story you’ve seen on a million shows. expect much more from this series

-Coachella tickets are on my must list this week. Killer lineup!
-Conan O’Brien is proving himself a class act. Bravo, sir!

  • Raven_Moon

    1) “The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien”: Conan is a class act. He’s hilarious & it makes me sad that I won’t get to watch him (until possibly September.) Cheers to you Conan!
    2) Cougar Town: Since EW picked Modern Family, I’m picking the show that comes after. Courtney Cox is delightful & it consistently makes me laugh.
    3) Jeff Bridges (Crazy Heart soundtrack.) I’ve seen him on TV this past week singing songs from the film & now I think I want to see it. If it ever comes to a theater near me, that is.
