CNN has footage of correspondent Anderson Cooper dragging away a bloodied Haitian youth who had been hit by concrete slabs on the streets of Port-au-Prince. The Coop is very Ah-nold in Terminator 2 here, cradling the boy under one arm while his free hand protects a camera instead of a gun. And then he ditches the camera and scoops the boy up completely! But there’s nowhere to go, no surface clear enough for even a small human body. Anderson’s quiet moment to himself after the boy walks away is particularly heartbreaking. (Warning: Graphic content in video.)

I love that journalists like him and Dr. sanjay Gupta are getting thier hands dirty instead of just standing idly by.
I LOVE YOU ANDERSON COOPER!!!!!!!!!!!!
seriously- AC is the Man!
He seems to be such a class act in the world of journalism where when disaster strikes, most journalists stay on the sidelines in the name of being objective.
for some reason foo fighters’ “my hero” came to mind. what a class act!
CNN has seriously killed the coverage of Haiti, especially with AC, Ivan, and Dr. Gupta. Well done.
And Ivan is very very easy on the eyes!
That is pretty epic.
As if I didn’t love him any more.
OMG. This is so sad.
AC is THE MAN!!! CNN is doing such a great job … Congrads to them for working HARD and showing they do care.
AC as action hero? The tone of this headline seems in poor taste. This terrible footage speaks for itself. It doesn’t need to be filtered through EW’s pop culture lens.
Agree 100%. Inappropriate to suggest this footage is fodder for entertainment.
If I ever see Anderson Cooper, I’m just going to throw myself into some rubble with the hopes that he’ll swoop me up with those throbbing biceps.
Anderson Cooper, there’s no one like him out there.
That footage is REAL LIFE, EW! Not Reality TV, not make-believe! To compare Anderson to an over-the-top action farce like Terminator trivializes the immense tragedies so many people are going through in Haiti. Shame on you!
Agreed.
Maybe what’s worse is the tag “Things That Are Sad”. C’mon EW, enter the real world.
They are not trying to trivialize what these people are going through…they’re trying to support and honor someone who helped instead of standing by! He’s BETTER than the Terminator!
When the cameras are rolling, you can do anything
Thank you. I like AC, and it’s awesome what he’s doing in Haiti. But let’s not forget that journalists are constantly aware of being seen. Doesn’t matter who they are or what they’re doing. They know people are watching.
That being said, he’s probably doing the same things when the cameras aren’t rolling. I guess we’ll never know, but it’s more than what I’m doing from behind this desk.
I think “Anderson’s quiet moment to himself” is really AC checking he doesn’t have too much of the boy’s blood on him. Can’t blame his though.
