What exactly does “physical relationship” mean to The Bachelor? Hugging? Hand holding?
i think they are trying to imply there was a sexual relationship but can’t say it because they don’t want to be sued if it isn’t…(and it probably isn’t) true. this entire thing is a desperate reach for some drama in a boring season with a boring bachelor
Exactly. It’s on tape…let’s see the proof before trashing someone.
Ahhh, he’s a staffer, he would know where the cameras aren’t, no way they could cover that entire compand with cameras.
But if some of the other ladies saw it – according to CH – then something MUST be on film. A quick blip of any physical contact at all between Roz and some guy other than Jake would have lent credibility to the story. And if they are trying to keep the staffers identity a secret they could have sensored his face.
I’d like to know that as well. Call me cynical, but “physical relationship” doesn’t seem that much more specific than “inappropriate relationship.” Did they actually have sex? All I’m hearing from the show and Chris Harrison’s blog are lawyer-approved phrases seemingly designed to create drama without giving anyone grounds to sue for defamation.
It’s lawyer language alright – meant to cover ABC’s butt. “Physical relationship” could just as easily mean that they were caught hugging – even though the implied meaning they hope we all believe is that they had sex.
Are you suggesting that unless Roz & the staffer were having sex, then ABC should not have asked her to leave? I watched Chris confront her. Editing or no editing. That was a women who was caught doing something she knew she shouldn’t have been, trying to justify her behaviour by referring to it as a relationship that occurred before the show. She looked guilty as sin to me. I am not saying she is bad person, but ABC did the right thing by firing the staffer and asking her to leave.
Good question. Chris, what exactly do you mean by physical relationship? Why not use the term sexual relationship?
How come all the women acted shocked if they had already tattletale on this relationship?Hmmmmmm
The girls DID look shocked, so I am not buying that they new beforehand. If there are cameras all over the house, why didn’t the producers know anyway? Didn’t the staffer in question “remember” that the cameras were rolling. What about the report about the producers wanting Rozlyn off the show because she was a trouble maker? I think we should see the tapes and let Jake, the girls and the viewers decide if the relationship was inappropriate. I am not defending Rozlyn. As a viewer, I just don’t want to be manipulated for ratings. I really like Jake. I just hope he doesn’t continue to be overly emotional.
I’m thinking more than just having feelings for each other. With others witnessing it I’m thinking at least making out but just shy of full blown sex. Now, what happened when others weren’t aound to witness it who knows.
Sorry, in this case I don’t believe Chris.
Hung the poor girl up for drama. It’s online elsewhere that the producers lied to her about her son’s visit, and tried to paint her as a liar…
Rozlyn had all the opportunity in the world to deny it. Chris paused tried to give her a chance to say something, if I am being accused of something I did not do then why not speak up while I am being accused of it. I wouldn’t wait until I was kicked off the show. All she had to say was that her “PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP” was her business, that doesn’t sound like she was denying anything. I don’t understand why people are saying they are lying on her when she had the opportunity to deny it, but she said nothing in her defense.
The show is edited after it’s filmed and before we see it – her denials could have been left on the cutting room floor – so to speak. Not seeing footage of her denying it on the show is not proof that anything happened – the only way to prove that would be to show footage of the inappropriate physical relationship – and in a house full of cameras – they should have some if anything actually happened.
Saying they HAD to have something because of all the cameras ignores the fact that it was happening with an insider. They do not have enough cameras to follow all the women every single minute, and if you have a staffer who cuts the camera, there you go. As for editing, there was at least one time when the camera was on both of them at the same time, with Chris waiting for her to say something – anything! She didn’t. Give me a break with the editing “out” – yes, it is edited, the whole show is. But they can’t edit her to say her private life is her own business after she signed on for a reality show. Of course, we may not have seen all that was said between her and Chris, but how about you explain away the ridiculous things she DID say and then we might have something to talk about.
Yes, please be specific about what “physical” means. It could be one person touching another person’s arm. If you want us to believe you, Chris, be honest.
Hi Chris, I would also like to see some footage of this “relationship.” Why were so many of the girls crying? I would’ve been thrilled to see my biggest competition go. Let’s be honest: Michelle is being kept around for drama. The “Jaws” music when she is on proves it. One last thing…why do the girls try to convince the other’s to stay when they want to leave? Aren’t they all aware it’s “The Bachelor” and not “Find My Best Girlfriend”? By the way, I love Jake!
My guess is heavy petting. If they’d had sex, I think the producers would want to make that clear and would say they “consummated” their relationship or some such.
You did a great job Chris – you did what needed to be done but didn’t hype the situation too much either – a great balance.
My question is about the cameras… aren’t these girls followed with camera’s all day and night? When did Rozlyn hook up with this person? Or was he the cameraman? Also – the “relationship” couldn’t have been more than 3 days right? That’s how long the show was going on at that point, correct? Or did these two people “hook up” from the interview part of the process to the night of the rose ceremony?
Great season – and I so love your blog to fill in all my questions!
Thanks for the blog as always, Chris. And thank you for the professionalism you showed during the show tonight. People can call me naive or gullible, but it was painfully apparent to me how uncomfortable you were during the “reveal” conversations. (Yes, I heard the catch in your voice.) You are being very polite about Rozlyn & circumspect but she has made her own bed in this case. Like the situation with Wes last season, I am not foolish enough to think we really have the full story, and “inappropriate relationship” is really really vague. lol But, no one put the words in her mouth we did hear her say – her personal life is no one’s business?? Did she not notice the cameras all around?? lol I also think the show made the right decision, absolutely. I disagree with the posters who are trying to make the case that Jake is seeing multiple women at the same time, so why can’t the women? It is the basic premise of the show and the women all knew what they were signing on for. She didn’t deny the accusation or defend herself in any believable way…I’m not about to buy her stories now when she can basically say anything she wants to the media.
I never tought about the fact that Jake is basically dating and getting physical with all of the girls or multiple girls and I agree its not to the point where people are falling in love but these girls do sign on for this and are aware of what the situation is when they get there….its not the easiest situation, but they signed on for this. So, I do think its best that Roz was asked to leave….I do wish her and the staffer the best, things happen and if its true that they are still seeing one another then its true that you can’t help who you fall for. Chris you handled yourself well, and can’t wait to see what the rest of the season holds.
Chris-
Loved the way you handled the situation. I think that people watching forget that this is a reality show, and REAL things and situations happen!…But for the record I think Jake and Ali are perfect. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out! I hope he can see through some of the other fake personalities before he gets attached!
Excited for the season! How fun!
I think whether it seems fair or not, the women (or men) who go on the show to date the bachelor (or bachelorette, as it may be) know that they are supposed to put their efforts into building a relationship with him/her that could be viable in real life. It is not a chance for those women to meet anyone else during the process.
The fact that she wanted to keep her personal life private told me everything I needed to know. She wasn’t looking at this as anythig other than a publicity (get my face out there) ploy and now its burned her, so it just shows karma sometimes does catch up with women who act in this deceptive manner.
Could not stand Elizabeth’s teasing manner towards Jake – it tells me she’s using strategy, not upholding her honor, and the tease game is not an end game. Hope Jake sees through it quickly. I disliked her more than Michelle!
Totally agree about Elizabeth, Leo. It really sickened me. I took it as a manipulation “play-hard-to-get” from the start, but then to have her TEASE him with it? I so wish he had not given her the rose – will be interesting to see if HE wishes it too, since she didn’t start that part of the game until after she was already “safe.” That said, Michelle is kind of spooky, and I wish they wouldn’t “cast” women who appear truly vulnerable mentally on these shows.
Agreed! I hope Jake wasn’t that naive to fall for her teasing behavior. I think they cast the crazies for ratings.
We don’t know what Rozlyn was answering to when she referred to her personal life. They cut out all parts of that interaction that would make her look sensible. They went out of their way in the editing to make her look guilty. We don’t really know what her real answers were to her accusations. The show will never show that.
Very, very good point Amanda! The show can slice and dice her comments to make her look any way they want her to look to us. We need to keep that in mind! Question: why hasn’t “the couple” been interviewed by the tabloids yet???I understand the staffer’s career is at stake, but this should be like candy for Rozlyn if she is really looking to “get her face out there”!
OK, I know I’m replying to everything, but you are all covering everthing I had to say so brilliantly. Amanda, I couldn’t agree more. We have no idea what Rozlyn said in her own defense.
Exact same reaction to Elizabeth’s game playing here. Telling a man he can’t kiss her, then getting up in his face and asking if he wants to kiss her…this is just pure strategy and I don’t think she’s even that good at it (but Jake does seem a bit naive). She’s not to be trusted.
I agree about getting in face and teasing him. And didn’t anyone else think it was odd to write him a note and then read it to him?? Why not just say how you feel or GIVE him the note? Reading it to him like he’s a child rubbed me the wrong way….am I the only one?
Hi Chris! Can you reveal a little bit about what Rozlyn said when you broke her the news? It looked like the show did not have the time or opportunity to include much of the exchange between the two of you. It’s hard to imagine she was so quiet about everything. Thank you very much for your blog!
Yes, what did Rozlyn REALLY say?
Chris,
You handled this unfortunate situation very well. Your emotions seemed genuine and Dana (my husband) and I felt so badly for you. I’ve never blogged, tweeted, etc. but since I know you, I wanted to let you know my thoughts. We are still fans of the show and again, you handled this with class. Grant says Hello to Josh.
Best,
Michelle Levy
show the video if you have a proof. you are just a liar and fleiss servant.
Ewwww! Why would they have video? The staffer knew it was wrong, why would he let it be videotaped? lol lol
Because as someone already pointed out, all of the girls are pretty much covered by cameras at all times. And if they were actually having sex but it somehow wasn’t caught on camera, well, Chris said that several of the other girls caught Rozzlyn and the staffer in the act – so let’s hear from them about exactly what they saw.
Why does it matter if it’s videotaped or not? The girls are not all filmed 24/7. I’m sure they have down time. Besides, the staffer already admitted that he crossed the line. She’s gone. Let it go.
The women aren’t nearly covered 24/7. We see very little footage shot without Jake and/or without all the other women. You see very little night-time footage (probably because the “ladies” aren’t looking their best). How often do we see them sleep or eat or off on their own. It’s not like Survivor.
Roslyn is a slut first of all. And Michelle looks like a cat!!!
Gabby girl I totally agree. Buts it’s rozlyn
What is it with women calling other women sluts? A slut is just someone who has more sex than YOU!
That is so unfair to call her slut. We all do nt know what CH means by ‘inapproriate physical whatever’, she is pretty. The only wrong she did if ever was to breach her contract with ABC. As for the rest who are we to judge Roz? This thing is being taken too far now.
Chris,
I think you handled the situation with diplomacy and tact…if you were nervous, it didn’t show! It’s unfortunate what happened, but it is a weeding out process to help Jake find his true love…she (Rozlyn) just wasn’t the right one for him, and he’s one step closer to finding the right person for him! He dodged a “bullet”, so to speak….
RealitySteve.com/blog has the real scoop on what happened. ABC is pulling a fast one on their audience to “enhance ratings”.
Very insightful.
Realitysteve is trying to “enhance” his “ratings.” He blew the lid off Melissa/Molly/Jason. He blew the lid off Wes/Jillian and now he blows the lid off Rozlyn/Jake. Woo. Woo. Scandal or not, the real scoop is that realitysteve is a HORRIBLE writer. Worst. Blog. Ever.
Baloney. Reality Steve is promoting Reality Steve. I can’t read his blog because it’s so long winded and repetitive, but he made a big mistake siding with Wes last season. Regardless of whether or not Wes has a girlfriend at home, he was clearly not the least bit into Jillian and lied every time he accepted a rose from her. Total cad.
Chris
I am a single mom with THREE children, have an ex-husband, am in my mid 30′s, am middle class, defiantly not a perfect body, and not a perfect life. But I am down to earth, work, and take care of my children. I am happy and I know there are plenty great men and ladies just like me. Many of them unable to find love just like your bachelor/bachelorette and would love a chance to make a fool of themselves on national TV hahaha. Why not do a show with real people, some might have the perfect body, but don’t have to. Some might be high class; some might have low income it doesn’t matter. But no one can tell who is who, other than looks. There are great people that don’t fit your current criteria that perhaps you should look at.
When the Bachelor first started I didn’t miss a show. I lost interest and stopped watching the show for a bit. I have started to watch again and still seeing high class people with perfect bodies, in their 20′s, very successful, with no kids (for the most part), and no ex-husbands (if they do have one, it is made to be a big deal ) . Now I could be way out of line and just assuming this. I have been known to do that from time to time
They tried a show with average people and it tanked. Unfortunately people only want to see beautiful people looking for love.
Oh, please! The other show was about overweight women (which I am) focused on “poor, poor pitiful me” rather than romance.
Well said, Julie. If they even had one season and didn’t try to make a mockery of us “normal” people, it might be a hit!
Maybe the women who knew about it wanted to remain anonymous.
The weren’t shocked, but they were caught up in the emotion too.
Hi Chris – my question is this: When Jake is watching these episodes for the first time now, is he embarrased at all by how easily manipulated he has been so far? It seems all a woman has to do is play some lame flirty game with him and suddenly he is “intrigued”. I’m rolling my eyes at the teeto-taler moves he is falling for; does he see through them any better in hindsight?
I totally agree with that. I was a little disappointed that Rozlyn and Elizabeth got a rose with the way they acted. Rozlyn was very forward and Elizabeth with her note. There were others on the group dates who I thought should’ve gotten the rose instead.
The funny thing is that he questions why he’s still single, yet falls for these little tricks. A girl just has to put on a bikini and shake it for him to be “intrigued”. And then he’s shocked that she’s had an “inappropriate relationship” with another man? And then falling for Elizabeth’s note, and then her taunting him? I was rolling my eyes when those two got roses…what a dork!
Read Jake’s blog on People.Com and see for yourself what Jake thinks of his choice to keep Michelle and about Elizabeth.
