David Hasselhoff leaving 'America's Got Talent': Will you still watch sans Hoff?

(First, the offended among you will need to forgive the implication that you watch America’s Got Talent WITH the Hoff.) Former Baywatch star and cheeseburger enthusiast David Hasselhoff announced yesterday he’ll be leaving the NBC reality series after four years, “to do my own TV show, which will be announced very shortly.” No further word on that from Hoff’s camp yet, but for now, tell us: Will the Hoff’s departure make you more or less likely to tune in for AGT next summer? And who would need to replace him in the right-hand seat to lure you in (NBC and Freemantle Media did not return calls asking about replacement)? Is this a Paula Abdul opportunity? Something’s gotta be, right? Maybe? I don’t really get that whole Paula needs to JUDGE something phenomenon, but her name’s come up, anyway. What do you think? Oh, and who wants to help me campaign for a Hoff-led show called America’s Next Top Retired Lifeguard?

So Haselhoff is leaving “AGT” to work on his “own TV show.” This reminds me of the joke on “Scrubs” when Chuck Woolery was in the hospital and insisted that “Love Connection” was still on…but it was filmed in his basement with people around his neighborhood. Maybe the Hoff can go down to the local beach and “film” some bonus seasons of “Baywatch.”

As for “AGT”, I tried watching it a few times – I find it thoroughly unwatchable. Sorry. No replacment could make me watch. Except maybe Marisa Tomei (my secret girlfriend) or Joseph Gordon-Levitt (who’s just all-around awesome). Somehow, I don’t see those two joining the show, so I’m out.

I too have a not-so-secret love for Marisa Tomei… she could probably make me watch.

Oh my love for Tomei is no secret either. My real-life girlfriend knows about it and (god bless her) tolerates it.

When I say she’s my secret girlfriend, I mean that it’s a secret to Tomei that she’s my girlfriend.

NO ONE can replace GARTHE KNIGHT!!!!

  • Maserda

Depends on who they replace him with. I don’t really watch the show either since I feel it is way too drawn out and there is only so many real talented acts on the show.

One thing that always confused me about this show- please correct me if i’m wrong- is that whoever won was either a singer or a dancer, which defeats the purpose of seperating this show from American Idol or So you think you can dance with the stars… all shows I dont watch btw

I believe one of the past winners was a ventriloquist. How do I know this? I have children who loooovvvve this show. I sit in another room and read until it’s over. Its not like SpongeBob or iCarly where I am secretly happy to watch. I honestly believe this show’s main audience is children, who can stay up late in the summer, and who love to watch grownups makes fools of themselves. Any adults in the audience are mainly there to keep an eye on things.
I don’t think my kids will choose not to watch because of the Hoff. They’ll watch anyway. (But they will miss him–unless they get a funny wrestler or someone like that to take his place.)

Yes, the vetriliquist is Terry Fator who now has a $100 million deal in Vegas. He was the only real success to come out of this show. It doesn’t matter who replaces Hoff. At least we won’t be stuck watching his embarrassing stage singing act during the finals. Made my skin crawl.

Maybe he is doing his own TV show in Germany. They love him over there. Actually, I like to watch the show. Mindless entertainment.

  • It’ll be ok

I’d be a happier with a replacement for Nick Cannon

  • Brett

If they got rid of the other two judges, Nick Cannon and brought in some actual talent, I’d definitely watch.

  • Nightstar

I hope they replace both myself, this show is really boring at times. You see more ridiculous acts than real talent. I did not watch last season due to Nick Cannon being the host.

  • Leslie

    Could care less!!! REALLY

  • Jack M

    Who cares?

I am not sure if AGT has a purpose. In my opinion, it does not even entertain… a very poor masn’s AMERICAN IDOL.

  • laurie

    Ben Folds!

  • Quince

He’s leaving for his own show. Yeah, right, the guy who keeps getting publicity for not being sober enough to stand up is leaving for his own show.

  • Sadalish

I’ve tried to watch this show before but felt David H was such a poor judge- he typically liked the contestants with no talent, usually female bimbo types he even gushed over- without him I’ll give it another try- he was obviously drunk most of the time- at least a happy drunk- I’ll give him that!

  • DanBoston

I don’t watch it now…quite honestly I don’t understand why anyone watches this idiotic show. Is middle America that bored?

  • mark

BEN FOLDS – why replace hoff with paula – that’s like one addict for another…
