Mariah Carey won an award last night at the Palm Springs Film Festival for best breakthrough performance. Her acceptance speech is, indeed, precious. Easy on the…whatever you’re celebrating with there, friend.
Nothing can top her episode of Cribs, but this is certainly my favorite Mariah Carey video ever.

This makes me kind of wish that she’d been nominated for a Golden Globe (which is notorious for letting the booze flow freely).
Methinks, Ricky Gervais would be in the middle of telling a joke and then we’d hear a large crash from the audience…it’d be Mariah trying to sit down, missing her seat and knocking the rest of the “Precious” table over in her wake.
Oh well, at least the Razzie she won for “Glitter” now has some company on her movie awards shelf.

Apparently she was extremely nervous beforehand and decided to loosen up by pounding back a few drinks; but she got carried away. I think it’s awesome! As long as she had a good time (which it looks like she did), I think it’s great!
It was boring and embarrassing for all involved, and it made a mockery of an award (that she should never have been given in the first place).
Have you seen Glitter? To go from that performance to the one in Precious?? If that isn’t the breakthrough of the year, I don’t know what is. One drunken appearance doesn’t suddenly make her performance any less impressive. Mo’Nique will get the Oscar (deservingly)… Mariah deserves the ‘Breakthrough’ award.

Oh, boy. Now people are going to think she’s having a nervous breakdown again, even though she seems to be very happy right now. I think we’ve all been tipsy (or worse) at some point in our lives. Unfortunately, she had to accept an award. Also, I thought everyone knew that she was joking in that episode of Cribs. She doesn’t really wear high heels every time she uses the treadmill. Come on.
Someone who sings like a true nightingale and hits octaves as easily as she’s sleeping can diva all she wants, I don’t mind. Do your Mariah, Mimi! Kudos!
