Hugh likes the type of movies he makes and says that comedies are harder than dark comedies or dramas. He was so great in “About a Boy,” and you could feel his pain in that movie. He refers to it as one of the movies he’s most proud of. If he likes rom-coms, so be it. Let the man be. But Wendy, I do like your story.
hugh grant probably picks the best of the scripts he’s sent. he probably gets sent the exact same kind of scripts all the time- romantic comedies, because someone (with the power to decide) felt thats the kind of actor he is. i would say he probably agrees and is ok with it because he rarely branched out to more dramatic roles. i think he is happy to put out one film a year because he has a lot of vacation time every year and still has a big fat salary. dudes got life by the tits and he’s milking it. maybe someday he’ll want to be “Hugh Grant…Artist” but for now he seems happy. i want him to strive for more because i like him and i will never see this movie or bridgett jones or the thing with bullock. he was great in about a boy. i’m looking forward to his change of mind.
but i liked the nice article.
Judging by every review and comment I’ve read, this is another one of those “gee I’m glad I didn’t pay to see that” movies that will quickly air on post-pay-per-view stations. A movie that I may have watched for all of 15 minutes or so – but for free – perhaps the entire movie – IF – that annoying Sarah Jessica Parker wasn’t in it. Why the fascination with her? One of those annoying “oh my god she’s everywhere” actresses. However, I guess I’m in the minority judging by the rabid SATC fans out there. She’s just not believable in anything. As for Mr. Grant; he seems to be “one step forward, two steps back” – one stand-out movie, followed by a couple of duds.
Everytime I see SJP, all I can think of is an episode of Family Guy wherein Peter said “Sarah Jessica Parker? She looks like a foot!”
I always have been a fan of Hugh Grant, and probably I´ll ferever be and I think he would be great in an indie movie, less rome com more sarcastic.
Also, love the idea of a movie with Emily Blunt.
He was great in Love Actually, one of the best holyday movies ever!
