PopWatchers, I only know the basics about the Iron Man universe. What I do know is that Iron Man 2 will undoubtedly be one of Hollywood’s biggest hits next year, and that the movie’s first trailer is a superb example of how to whet fans’ appetites without giving too much away. Seriously, compared to Batman Begins and the Dark Knight, Iron Man stinks. And I for one am tired of hearing how great it is to see the comebacks of Robert Downey Jr and Mickey Rourke – no one cares outside Hollywood.

yeah Im tired of hearing about all the movies and the comebacks of actors so what im going to do is watch a trailer about a movie that has both of them, then Im going to waste my time reading articles about them then Im going to watch movies with them.

Hey, the Nolan/Bale Batman movies have been awesome, no question, but why hate on Iron Man? The first one was a lot of fun, and was almost (almost) as good as The Dark Knight. I’m looking forward to IM2, though (as others here have said) I worry that there’s too much getting thrown at us in this film: War Machine (seems too soon), Black Widow, a bigger role for Nick Fury, Whiplash, and isn’t Sam Rockwell going to be a villain too? I remember reading that. And what’s with Gary Shandling? I love him as Larry Sanders, but he just took me right out of the trailer, because there he was playing the one part he knows how to play: himself. I’m hopeful, but also hoping this doesn’t become Spidey 3.

IT doesn’t look lame. It looks okay. I enjoyed the first but it wasn’t amazing. Im sure this will be a fun movie too.
Favreau is a capable director but its not fair to compare it to the DArk Knight. That’s a whole other level.
I dont think ROurke’s character looks cool at all though. War Machine looks cool.

As a recovering fanboy myself, I’ve never understood why for some fanboys it’s an either/or situation for superhero movies. The Dark Knight was fantastic, as was Iron Man. Liking one doesn’t mean you have to dislike the other. I think DK was robbed of an Oscar nomination, and so was Robert Downey Jr. They were both amazing movies in their own right, and in different ways. IM2 looks fantastic!
Why did you come on just to compare to Batman? Batman was a great movie, but it is the best of the best. Iron Man is a great flick too. I am a little skeptical of the Iron Man 2, because they’re just throwing big names in as superheroes and villains like the old Batmans did (Shoemaker sucks!). Nevertheless, give the movie a chance before you bash it, douche.

For those who dont get it. Thesse stories were in their original edittions of these comics years ago, so for those that think this movie is LAME, you NEVER read the book obviously and given Downey’s backgroung, He’ s perfect for the part. GET OVER IT.

One, you can’t compare Ironman and batman for the simple fact they are two very different types of superhero movies, Batman was dark as to where Ironman is not so much at all. It really comes down to who your fav is, which is obviously Batman. I think they both were great cuz these movies kept true to who those superheroes I grew up with were about.

To Short Circuit: Take a pill, calm down. It is a movie, a popcorn movie. And, it seems many people care as the movie made hundreds of millions of dollars. Also, they are two different kinds of movie. The title of Batman’s movie is “Dark Knight” it is “Dark”. Get over it! This is a movie to watch and laugh.
Most of you bums cannot understand the significance of Marvel and DC studios bringing the Super Heros to the big screen. Real Comic book fans from the beginning (the 70′s) have grown with the stories. As a fan, I will confirm The Batman films from DC studios, both pictures Batman Begins and the Dark Knight have set the super hero bar. Iron Man is by far the best Marvel film to compete. Remember fans…casting is the critical element to a successful film. Downey is absolutely perfect for this role and i hope he makes it his signature series. There are many more to come fans…get ready. Thor, The Green Lantern, Capt. America, oh my! I think Spiderman had better grow up!

Marvel Comics goes back to the 60′s (It was called ATLAS before that.) And DC goes back to the 30′s. Real comic book fans like you should do their homework.

Totally agreed .. Spiderman 1 was good 2 was friggin emotional n 3 was just okay .. but Iron mann is pretty awesome. Im sure there will be a good plot with tons of action … that’s the real Marvel hero not a bunch of crying n emotional superhero ….

Batman Begins and The Dark Knight both had a number of villians in them, it’s more about making sure they fit together in the story. In Spider-man 3 they didn’t because everyone had their own individual story and journey.

Sure is possible, and continuity is a good thing, but Terrence didn’t get a big enough check, so they had to “settle” for Don Cheadle. Oh Terrence . . .
Terrance Howard was too in love with himself. His ego for wanting a bigger paycheck lost him the love. Don Cheadle as a War Machine makes me very excited. John had a good point, whenever any movie has to “settle” for Don Cheadle, that franchise is at the top of its game.
actually, they picked Cheadle because apparently Terrence Howard was getting a bigger paycheck than even RDJ. But at lest they got a good actor to cover for him instead of a crappy actor.
Don Cheadle is a much better and accomplished actor. But he needed to do a film that people would actually SEE so that he can get more mainstream work in the future.
Yeah, I knew that there were problems on the set and Terrance was offered a huge salary cut for the sequel. But, even if he didn’t come back, I think there were better choices than Cheadle. He just doesn’t strike me as a “comic-book” hero yet. So, I’ll wait for the film and reserve final judgment until then.
