This year’s Christmas episode lacked the emotional impact of Season 1′s quarantine and the puckishness of Season 3′s mistletoe kiss, but it did have something going Read the full post.

Please… the episode would probably have been better for some if they didn’t go into thinking 1) they are a writer and know how the episode should go 2) stop thinking up a quick way to push B/B together without a backstory(development) 3) comparing season 5 episode ? to season 1,2,3 episode ?. 4) Booth and Brennan are not the only people on Bones.
I loved this episode because it was actually about Christmas! It had beautiful moments and growth and Brennan’s family (that actually did what family does– stay home because they don’t work at the FBI or Jeffersonian). Great episode!!!!
Thank goodness HH is the creator/writer of Bones and not some of the spoilsports of “fans”.
Well said and I agree
I concur. I liked that this episode had a number of smaller touches that longtime fans of the show could truly appreciate. Also, I thought Margaret’s function was to show that Brennan is not completely an anomaly in her own family; even though Brennan is rather different from her dad and brother, she does have relatives who seem to possess a similar temperament. It brought to mind that old anthropological argument about “nature vs. nurture.”
And, of course, I thought Booth’s reactions to Brennan undressing him were priceless!

I don’t want to push B & B together. I am one of the few who hope they never hook up. But scenes like Brennan taking the cocky belt off of Booth are embarrassing to watch. But I will admit to comparing this season to the first and best one, because it is now a pale shadow of its former self.
I guess you’re speaking for yourself when stating embarassment for the pants scene. I have a couple of questions for you(not being an a** but just trying to understand): Why do you still watch a show that you feel is a pale shadow of itself? How enjoyable is it if you’re comparing it to the past? I’m just curious…seriously.
Also, Booth and Brennan kind of ARE the only people on the show. The original overseer got the boot, Cam has always bothered me, Sweets is a ridiculous character, breaking up Angela and Jack was as stupid as putting them together… and don’t EVEN get me started on Zach and the rotating cast of *funny, see they’re funny* assistants. Bleh.
I sincerely do not mean this in a snarky/sarcastic way; but I’m curious why you are still watching the show? What is good about it for you?
LOVED the show, I thought it was touching and funny all at once. I totally hope Angela and Hodgins get back together! And I loved the tender moments between Bones and Booth, he does those SO well.
KEVIN
Booth and Brennan ARE not the only characters on the show if that was the case, nothing would get solved. The overseer has been gone for years…let that go! Cam can be annoying to you but she’s here and not going anywhere. Hodgins and Angela’s existence doesn’t stop if they’re not a couple. Sweets is here to stay so let that go. Zach has been gone for a year and a half and the show is still going strong. The rotating interns are an ongoing story whether you think they are funny or not. You just prove my point with this post!
I too wanted to slap Cam’s adopted daughter. Her behavior was typical of a self absorbed teenager.
Where was Hank? Jared? Why was Parker in Canada? I must have missed something.
Booth in his undershorts being wheeled around was a bit unbelievable. Zooey was a bit TOO weird. I like her better as a blonde, too. I am glad that Sweets was at the party at the end, since he has no family.
I think they tried to cram too much into this episode. Maybe they should have done an extended ep for this one?
The title says it all: Half-naked Booth = the only X-Mas gift I need!
And I think they definitely could have done a lot more with Margaret’s character, but personally I just thought it was great to see those two together finally!
1) I think the song playing during the Christmas dinner was actually sung by Zooey Deschanel. (I can’t say for sure)
2) Loved the episode, I cried my eyes out for the last 10 minutes or so. When they all went to the funeral..that was awesome.
3) I think seeing Booth’s body was AMAZING! just sayin’
I loved the episode, I was teary-eyed the last 10 minutes as well. I thought Booth and Bones talk in the car was sweet “isn’t it heart crushing/” was beautiful. Bones undressing Booth was hot! DB has an unbelievable body! And I loved the “reciting the saints” line and his expressions, hysterical. Margaret was interesting, maybe she could have been in more scenes, but I thought it was a great episode!
I really enjoyed this episode. It was apparent that it was more of a development ep, just like most of the eps this season. But the “heart-crushing” and funeral scene at the end served their purpose – exposing more of Bones’ humanity (which she has always had) and reminding people beyond the funny there are actually “dead people” on the tables. It’s a good point, esp around Christmas. I enjoy reading these recaps, because sometimes they have things that I miss, but I find myself disappointed by the lack of grammatical/editorial skills as well as the apparent disregard for the entire point of the episode itself.
I thought this episode was beautiful. I’m not quite sure what Mandi here was watching, but seems she was watching superficially. This was a true christams episode. The sacrificed son (santa), redemption (angry dj), enlightenment (Brennan in the car), love (brennan not wanting booth to be alone on xmas), family ( cam & michelle, Brennan and her squint family) . it was well done. it wasnt what i was expecting, but i was more than pleased at what we received. Although i do agree with others, that as much as i looked forward to seeing Zooey, she wasnt needed in this episode
Am I the only one who wonders why they would find it so wrong with volunteering in El Salvador? I think it would have been great to have an episode showing the whole crew volunteering at a site of mass genocide – Christmas spirit by helping others.
Margaret was definitely lame. What a disappointment. They could have done so much with her character, and left viewers hoping to see a glimpse of her in the future. I could care less if that character ever shows up again.
Re-watched it this weekend, and I have a question. Who the hell is styling Emily this season? Her clothes are all designed to hide her figure (which only succeeds in making her look pregnant) and her hair is stiff and unflattering. I used to love that she was so cerebral but styled very feminine, and now that just seems to have gone by the wayside.
I’m going to go for analyse-the-hell-out-of-this and say that *maybe* they’re trying to play it like she’s the one that GG said was in love and dealing with those feelings, and she’s sort of trying to push herself away from Booth. That, or the wardrobe department are morons.
