YES! Michael deserved it that day, though all three could have gone the distance. Kevin might have won on a better cooking day, but when your specialty is pork, you can’t serve tough belly. Bryan played it safe (not smart) by turning out good food that was less inspired. Michael showed inspiration, technique, skill, and no one goes home on dessert. Better to take more risk and achieve greater heights (and let the dessert go) than to play safe.

I was rooting for Jen, then Kevin, then Michael. Michael really took the day and I’m glad he won.

    Big deal…

I quit watching this show after the chick that won about two years ago complained during an episode in which they had to cook for the Second City theater in Chicago. This girl was angry that they had to cook their eloquent meals for “Idiotic Comedy People”..Basically this chick was saying that chefs have more talent than the groundbreaking institution that gave John Candy, Belushi, Ackryoyd, Bill Murray, etc, their start..
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!…Shut up and get back into the kitchen where you belong and let the educated do their work!!!!!!!

I agree with some that Bryan is the best choice of top chef but we do have to keep in mind that it is tv, not entirely reality. It still is fun to watch.

top chef succeeds at picking the wrong chef every season. so why is everyone surprised? they picked the wrong brother. im done watching. adios gumby “ima chef too! padma” and col-eek-e-o.

Michael is the kind of chef that keeps me out of restaurants. While I understand food is fashion and I’m unfashionable, I like a chef who treats food as something the customer should like, not as a ego trip. I’m sure he’ll go onto big successes though, his type of cheffery is in fashion.

My favorite 3 contestants were in the finals. When it came down to the end I was routing for Bryan, he was probably my favorite of the season, though it is really hard to say cause I loved Kevin so much. He’s a cute teddy bear and made food I’d love to eat. All three guys made food all season that I thought looked fantastic and I’d love, LOVE to try. Though I did prefer Bryan over Kevin, I was not upset to see Kevin win. He has a lot of passion and I think that just came off really strong, making him look arrogant. I think all three will be culinary stars, and I’d LOVE to eat at any of their restaurants. Besides Stefan from last year, I can’t really say that about any of the other chefs that have been on the show. It would be cool and all, and I’m sure it would be a great meal, but not something I’d say I really want to do or would seek to do if I was in their city.

According to the judges own comments, i still don’t understand how Michael won : Kevin won the first course (favorite childhood dish) followed far away by the brothers. Michael won the second course (the mystery box) followed by Brian and then Kevin, Brian won the third course (main course) followed by Michael then Kevin, and then Brian won AGAIN the dessert course followed by Michael then a very distant Kevin.
If you add it up, it is two unquestionable wins for Brian, one each for Michael and Kevin, two second place wins for Michael and one second place win for Brian.
So, why did Michael win ?
Never mind the guy’s attitude towards the other contestants, his demeaning comments throughout this season as well as his irascibility and humorlessness, but i still find myself at a loss of words as to why he won…

i hate michael! he thinks he’s better than everyone and he hates his own brother, but i have to give him some credit. even though he isn’t the best chef of the three he definitely wows me because he always talks about how people will react to his food and they always react exactly as he expects. i think that is a gift, knowing how you want people to feel and giving them what will make them feel that way. i still hate michael and i thimk he is the worst chef in the top 3
