Kristen Wiig will be hosting SNL Presents: A Very Gilly Christmas in-character as the mischievous schoolgirl who likes to eat her lower lip, NBC announced yesterday. She’ll introduce various holiday-themed sketches from the past 35 years, and Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin will be on hand to present “NPR’s Delicious Dish and the Schweddy Balls” and “A Holiday Wish,” respectively. I wonder if all the people Gilly will get to torment in between sketches will be other memorable Kristen Wiig characters. Whoa! Actually, that might be hard to pull off, so maybe Kenan Thompson can play those women instead.
Are you surprised that Saturday Night Live is banking on Gilly’s popularity like this? What’s your guess for prospective “Sorry” count, P-Dubs? I’m going with a mere 26, and that’s including foreign languages and English-based variations on a theme. Come on, this will be fun, like participating in the “Guess how many gauze puffs are in the jar” game at the dentist to win a weird-looking doll from K-Mart. Maybe it was just my dentist who did that. Related: I can’t believe there’s not a Gilly doll yet. She could dance!
What holiday-themed SNL skits do you hope they’ll air?

Sorry! Love Kristen but her Gilly character is the weakest of them all. Sorry!
Yes thank you. Why do they insist on doing this character. Kirsten Wiig is funny but they have overused her to the point that her jokes are not as funny because you know what is coming. I wish they would have kept Michaela Watkins, I think she was the funniest female cast member in some time and did not have so much hype around her. I miss Bitch Pleeze segment. That way they could balance Kirsten and Michaela and get rid of Abby Elliot and the two new girls.
Really…really…REALLY, A.J.? Are you kidding me? Kristen Wiig is absolutely one of the funniest characters to ever grace the stage of SNL and Gilly is absolutely one of the funniest characters, if not THE FUNNIEST character ever!! In addition to that, the two new characters are incredible! The best thing that SNL did was let Michaela Watkins go. Her “Bitch Pleeze” segment did stir a few laughs but if that’s all she can do she does not have that SNL quality. I believe your sense of humor may not be broad enough or mature enough to handle SNL. Maybe you should stick with shows like “The Suite Life of Zach and Cody.” My eight year old son seems to love it.
Second that. I find nothing funny about it. And holy deadpan, that “sorry” Gilly does kills me to pieces. Girl gives me nightmares…
Hanukah Harry!! Oh and Frankenstein, Tonto and Tarzan sing ‘Away in a Manger’
Eight Pair! Can you believe it?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO PLEASE NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
love Hanukah Harry on moosha oh herschel on slowmoooo
Slowmooo? Wendy, it is Moische, Herschel and Schlomo – they are old Jewish names…

i want to see the Sweeny Sisters sketch. bang bang nang goes the trolley
er, i meant clang clang clang. bang bang would be a whole different song
/Won’t be watching. Gilly is atrocious.
Yuck. I can’t stand Gilly. I’ve been watching SNL for 20 years (since middle school) and have stuck around for a lot. I just can’t handle Gilly. Is there going to be a new “Schweaty Balls” segment?
Gilly is one of the worst characters I’ve seen in a while. I’ll just have to mute the TV when she’s on.
Gilly is proof-positive that the powers that be at Saturday Night Live have no concept of what their fans like. Not a single person I know that watches likes the character, in fact, every single one regards it as one of the single worst reoccurring characters ever.
meet more people, kyle! i watch gilly – she’s hilarious!
I’d rather see a Penelope Christmas Special.
Word.
This last episode with Blake Lively was a treat because Kristin Wiig’s characters weren’t obnoxiouos. Gilly makes my skin crawl, thank God for the DVR.
I think Gilly is hilarious.
HORRIDE, MAKE IT STOP!
There’s a drinking game in here somewhere.
Ugh. I like Kristen Wiig and I think she’s got some great characters, but Gilly is so awful. I can’t stand the thought of watching her host an episode.
