SNL did a similar joke a couple years back on Update when Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were anchors. Seth Meyers plaid an aid to politician who was obviously abused and making excuses. It was hilarious and so was this skit. Yes, a bit long… but not in poor taste at all.

    • Hm

I generally consider it lazy if SNL repeats a joke.

  • Roxie

It may have been in poor taste, but I thought it was pretty funny regardless. Really, Blake just made that sketch for me with her Norwegian accent.

articles like this are an insult to society as a whole! do you really think the majority of people can’t understand the issue of domestic violence and the seriousness of it; yet, still be able to poke fun at tiger’s particular situation? What SNL was bringing to light was that tiger has said it wasn’t domestic violence but there is a lot of evidence to believe that there was. SNL was bringing to light that his denials don’t match everything we’ve seen in the media…. this is poking fun at the absurdity of him lying, not domestic violence itself. Lighten up!!!

Right. It seems to me the parody or satire in this was of the coverage of the “story” and aspects of how the story has been presented — like the things that seem obviously to be not getting said. The joke wasn’t meant to be “ha ha someone got hit”, it was “ha ha, at the media circus and the obvious maneuvering to try to spin the facts and keep things under wraps”

    Who cares what you think…

It was really funny. Blake Lively was great and so was the Kenan Thompson. SNL is supposed to make fun of current events, especially stuff like this. Deal with it.

  • Kendra

This sketch was hilarious. SNL shouldn’t have to curb itself to not hurt Rihanna’s feeling, because the difference between the assault on Rihanna and the assault on Tiger is that Tiger deserved it.

    • Amber

      EXACTLY!!!!!

So you’re pretty much implying that putting someone in harm’s way is all right, as long as they’re adulterers? Go tell that to Steve McNair sometime. Oh wait, you can’t, because he got murdered over the summer for doing the same thing. I wonder how you’d feel if a man incapacitated a woman in the face for the same reason; because she’s an adulteress, she deserved a beating.
Although I don’t disagree that adultery is immoral, and that getting upset over a cheating spouse is understandable, even they don’t deserve to get seriously injured for commiting the act, even with the pretense that they deserve it.

      • Em

Bravo, t3hdow. No one ever, ever deserves to become the victim of violence, despite their mistakes. “He/She deserved it.” is an excuse that many people have used for hurting/killing others.

      • Kendra

But she didn’t kill him, she scratched his face and hit his car with a golf club. HE was the one who decided that driving his car while pissed off was a good idea. You’re taking it way too seriously. Do I think people deserve to be viciously beat and murdered because they cheat? No. But do I think, after over ten women have come out of the woodwork saying Tiger had condom-less sex with them, they deserve to get a little scratched up? Yup.

This is the problem with the above article and people in general – they take everything wayyyyy too seriously. “No one ever deserves to be a victim of violence” – actually, some people do.

      • Kim

I agree completely with you, Kendra. While I certainly don’t believe someone should ever be killed or even seriously injured for cheating, I sure don’t blame her for clawing at his face or bashing in his suv. He betrayed her in the worst possible way and I would probably do the same thing.

      • kendra

        Thank you Kim :-)

  • CriticCritic

    I’d say those 3 paragraphs were a bad-critique trifecta. Those who can’t do…

    • kendra

Those who can’t do what?? Those who can’t beat their spouses, teach others how? When you’re trying to be witty, try and make sense first.

  • Dave

    I laughed. Guess I’m a bad person.

    • tvgirl48

Me too. I thought it was hilarious. And not that long.

  • Cat

I thought it was a scream, one of the best SNL skits in years!

  • Amber

It was HILARIOUS, I was crying laughing so hard…Tiger deserves all of this uncomfortable, bad publicity and jokes…loved it!!

  • sly

What sketch were you critiquing??? Maybe your assault on it lowered my expectations, but I thought it was hilarious. Borderline brilliant even. And I almost never like SNL.

  • joshua

MARGARET LYONS…Sorry, it would seem that you are incorrect; I thought it was funny as do most of the people posting replies.

  • Lisa

    WHAT? IT WAS HILARIOUS!

  • Leatherman

    Lighten up, it was FUNNY!
