John Fincher sure made some curious moves in his last days on Survivor: Samoa. He refused to pull rocks in a tiebreaker, refused to share pie with his tribemates, and refused all forms of logic by making an alliance with the most untrustworthy person in the game, Russell. Now, the 25-year-old rocket scientist explains the method behind his madness as he joins Eliza Orlins (Vanuatu, Micronesia) and me on the latest edition of Survivor Talk. Does he regret not going to a tiebreaker? Does he wake up in the middle of the night and punch himself for not bidding higher for the auctioned-off immunity challenge advantage? And the pie? Seriously? He answers these questions and more, while also issuing public challenges to both Jaison and Dave Ball. Watch all the exciting action go down below. And then, to get all the Survivor scoop sent directly to ya, hop on over to Twitter (can you hop in cyberspace?) and follow me @EWDaltonRoss .

MUST HAVE MORE ELIZA! I love Eliza. Please make her a permanent co-host of Survivor Talk, or better yet can we get her a talk show to replace Oprah? Eliza ALL THE TIME!
yes yes!! eliza is hilarious
Agree 100%!!!!!
Eliza should definitely be the permanent co-host of Survivor Talk!
Love Dalton! He needs his own show!
Yeah, I always liked Eliza in Vanuatu and Fans vs Favorites. She seems pretty awesome. And Dalton, you’re hilarious in Survivor Talk and in your recaps. Great job and keep it up!
Plus she is TOTALLY HAWT!!!
Eliza is a frickin’ beautiful 100% hottie, as determined by the US Department of Hotness and the UN Panel on Female Hotitude!
all i remember from Eliza was at the time when she was one of the jury in Fans v Faves, most of the time I saw her sitting with her massive eyes and jaw drops in disbelief of what was happening in tribal councils
she’s a great actress!! and she is a great ad-libber!!
Oh Dalton, I think Eliza and you are both correct. If you were in that position and you had the numbers stacked against you and you didn’t like Laura, would you pick rocks? Why would you pick rocks when you have a bigger chance of going home? But gorramit! He should have shared the apple pie! And like Eliza said, he went home the next day just like Cindy did. (I love the curse of the car… they should so bring it back). But he was an interesting player and at the end, I wonder who he’d vote for on the jury. Dalton, you rock.
He’s saying he would’ve beat Jaison, yet didn’t he go out before Natalie?!?
Yeah, but jaison is much weaker than Natalie. He may seem better physically, but he gives up so easily that if he didn’t have the advantage, Natalie would’ve smoked his @ss!
Natalie was awesome in that challenge!
Hey Dalton! Change your calendar, it’s December!
John is retarded. Monica FTW. John’s a conceited assh0le
Eliza’s awesome – love her!
Dalton, why didn’t you ask how the chicken soup ended up turning out? Who was right? Shambo or Danger Dave Ball?!?
I’m also dying to know, LOL!
1. I numbered my paragraphs because EW.com removes the space between paragraphs. My comment is not a list.
2. Dalton, I hate the family stuff just like everyone else, but I would vote for that in the auction in a heartbeat. Invariably, Jeff will give you the option of taking your family letter, or giving everyone else theirs. And of course, you give everyone else their letter, because that is the only reason you bid!
3. People won’t keep you in the game because you gave them some pie, but if you give them some family love, they will keep you in for at least that vote. Guaranteed.
4. While not giving the pie to everyone else didn’t help John, it also did not hurt him. Once the pie is gone so is your goodwill. But those letters/pictures, people can hold that in their hands and re-read it. When they do that, they remember who was nice enough to “make a sacrifice” and give up his own letter so you could have yours!
The dream? Really? I would’ve loved to see you offer Eliza some pie and then eat it all by yourself.
Then again, you still got it. Survivors are leaving your office in strong numbers…haha!
John is quite the talker. I liked his rationale for playing the game.
And last but not least, it’s good to see Eliza on the show again.
I wanted to know why John made Russell admit he had the idol. I thought that was a dumb move.
Dalton, I’ll give you most of those mistakes, but refusing to pull a rock is NOT a mistake. By breaking the tie, he guaranteed himself 3 more days. If he’d pulled rocks, he’d have a chance of going home. After all this time, why would you leave it up to chance when you can take action to keep yourself in the game? That was gameplay and the smartest thing to do given the situation.
Dalton you are the only person that makes me laugh out loud consistently. Please audition for the next Survivor…I would love to see you compete.
Was Brett dropped in halfway through the season? Who is this guy?
John has to go down as one of worst player in survivor history. Come on his closet ally in the game was Shambo for crying out. Shambo that has vision and talks to chickens lol. John thinks Mick is going and Shambo his ally thinks Dave is going. What a joke and what a great blindside. They didnt have a clue how to play the game lol.
Love Eliza. I’d love to see Dalton have a conversation with Erik and Eliza about jury duty.
Also love the Josh Wolk love in the dream sequence!
