Chris Brown: 'I was wrong for what I did'

Tags:

ABC has released this video of Chris Brown talking to Robin Roberts. The interview airs on tomorrow’s 20/20, and Brown watches a clip of Rihanna discussing the domestic abuse before he says: “I was wrong for what I did. I would definitely say that. It’s not something that I look past or look over. It’s something that’s really touchy. Like I said I’m really sorry for what went down and what happened.” Will you watch 20/20 to hear Brown’s side of the story?

      Ditto

    • Sara

Nope, will not watch. Hope he disappears.

    • Em

agreed. and a ‘no duh’ you did something wrong. tell me something new about this lame story of ‘i was wrong’ and ‘i am sorry.’ duh, you were wrong are you going to go around saying that what you did was right?

    • JA Adande

Yes I will watch, and I hope they show those Wrigley gum commercials he was in – those were soooo awesome, all you haters need to realize gum was never so cool until he started promoting it. I bet Rhianna could not do that.

    • gigi

Are you serious? Yes, you will watch the interview just like you clicked on this article. People kill me. “no, i’m not going to support him. no i’m not going to watch him” Lies and more lies. if you didnt like him you wouldnt have clicked on this link and read the whole darn article. I pay no attention to people “i dont like” you should do the same if you really dont care that much. moving right along…

      • Kevin

I click on every article about ABUSIVE, VIOLENT and DANGEROUS criminals like Chris Brown. So sue me.

      • Marcus

Damn It Gigi! I had no idea that the second i clicked on this article it would be physically impossible for me to not watch this interview. Who could have guess that God himself would come and hold me head in place and make me watch Chris Brown blabber. Thanks a lot article for stripping away my free will.

      • gigi

Kevin – No you dont. more exaggerated lies. you dont have to lie to prove a point sweety. I’m not condoning violence, i just hate all this fake outrage! Girls of all races come up missing everyday and no gives a crap. If they weren’t famous no one would care. I know young kids like chris and rihanna. and she may fool “non urban” america, but everyone else knows the deal. should it be dismissed no. are you going to do anything to help REAL GIRLS, with NO SECURITY GUARDS get out of bad relationships? No. So be real and keep it moving. all this interenet OUTRAGE is a waste of time. next…

Marcus – I dont get it?

      • Kevin

But I lied about nothing. Where do you come up with that. That is a lie on your part. I am not fake in my outrage. I think he’s an ABUSIVE, VIOLENT and DANGEROUS criminal. He’s admitted it!!!

Why are you making this about race in regards to me? Have I ever mentioned his race? I don’t CARE about his race (I mean, I like people of all races, just try to see past it).

Do I help real girls? Yes. I do. I volunteer my time working in low-income children in a mentorship program for a community arts program here in Los Angeles.

I want them to grow up strong so they have a change against ABUSIVE, VIOLENT and DANGEROUS criminals like Chris Brown. I really do hate what he did.

      • Khristina

Imagine that…she doesn’t “get” sarcasm. I’m wondering- do you think elementary or maybe jr. high?

    • robert

      wow – that’s deep

  • Avid Fan

There is never an excuse for physical abuse, so as far as I am concerned, he can be sorry, but so what? I would say he would be one of the VERY FEW if he does not end up repeat offending. NO FAITH in women beaters!

  • fgfgshjf

chris brown is dumb ur a girl hitter

  • Audrie

he is nothing but a liar who feels that he needs attention..your not the victim chris rihanna is…and no i will never watch or listen to him anymore

  • Nathan

So Chris Brown is the bad guy for assaulting Rihanna, sure, that makes sense. What doesn’t make sense is that Tiger Woods’ wife cracked him across the head with a golf club, and who’s the bad guy? Tiger Woods. Talk about your double standard.

    • spin

Are you for real? Tiger said his wife didn’t hit him with the golf clubs but he did admit to cheating on his wife. What does this have to do with the fact that Chris Brown DID beat the crap out of Rihanna. He pled guilty so we KNOW he did it. Your just going on tabloid rumors for Tiger and his wife supposedly hitting him with a golf club. There is no proof of that. And NO I will not be watching Chris Brown’s interview.

      • Lala

Nathan – where does it say that Elin hit Tiger with a golf club? I want to see a legitimate article.

    • ernie

      a) Tiger cheated and she’d just found out
      b) No one is saying she was right for that
Men shouldn’t hit women and women shouldn’t hit men

    • gigi

Tiger is married to a white woman! DUhh! dont you know they get away with everything. Does Paris and her 1 day in jail for her 5 DUI’s ring a bell? I dont understand why everyone is so suprised about all these things? White and blacks deal with Domestic violence in releationships. White folks just keep it on the DL, Black people. Well we can come some times cause a scene. Thats what happened with CB and RiRi. They were young and dumb. we’ve all been there and done that. move on people!

      • Kevin

We have not all been there and done that. Because most of us are not ABUSIVE, VIOLENT and DANGEROUS criminals like Chris Brown.

      • gigi

Kevin i think thats great! Wish I can say the same. unfortunately, i’ve made mistakens when I was 19 and 20 that I will never make again. My parents were far from abusiive. yet i had internal issues that i never dealt with, that just came out one day! Do I regret it. everyday. Have I laid a hand on anyone since I was 19. No. and I wont. you live and you learn. thats my point sweety.

I pointed out the Paris situation just so everyone can see black president or not, some things dont change. My message to young black kids is to stop making dumb mistakes. That way you dont have to deal with this crap! the system is not equal nor is the media. If this was Justin and Brittany Spears at 19 and 20…. I GUARANTEE this would be old news! you know it and everyone else on this pages knows it! But I love debating so keep it coming :) (its all in fun so dont try to track me down! Geesh)

      • Kevin

        “you live and you learn”

But he didn’t. He lived for two decades without learning how not to be ABUSIVE, VIOLENT and DANGEROUS.

He *chose* to beat the crap out of her. He was mature enough to know what beating people up means!! Just like you did way back then. I am so glad you have chosen to stop beating people up (if that is what you are insinuating you did).

What does Chris Brown have to do before you stop supporting him? What would be enough? Hopefully something that stops short of murder.

And please remember, when talking to me about this, race is not the issue.

      • Khristina

Wow Gigi…I see multiple posts with you telling people to “move on”. You should heed your own advice.

      • Khristina

“It’s all in fun”? You’ve GOT to be kidding me. There is not one angle of this situation nor in the “debating” of it that should be thought of as all in fun. That’s so sad you think that.

    • Muffy

Chris Brown or Rihanna are not the poster children of domestic violence, but they are the poster children for “couples gone wild.”

  • Freddie

Isn’t it funny how America’s Bigot Company (ABC) allows a women beater like chris brown to come on there so called station to tell his side of the story on how and why he beat this young women Rihanna, and they are cancelling all of Adam Lamberts performances on there so called ‘MORAL STATION” is beyond me. I for one will never again what a show on this station and I hope there ratings continue to GO DOWN THE DRAIN LIKE THEY ARE DOING RIGHT NOW!!!!! ABC’s loss is another stations GAIN!!!

    • ernie

      WORD^ best point ever
We as a society should let Chris Brown, his ego, and his man-beaterness fade into irrelevance. He needs to disappear. I won’t buy another of his albums or a mag with him on it or anything. I want him to fade out. He doesn’t deserve to be someone we pay attention to.

      • JJ

        YES!!! Fade out, please!!!!!

    • Autie

Being Black and being Gay is not the same thing.

  • Diane R

I’d be interested if Chris Brown said, “I’m in individual and group therapy. My therapist has suggested that I abstain from dating for 1 year, that I work on these anger management techniques, etc.” In other words, instead of hearing “I’m sorry” again, I’d like to hear “Here is how I’m working on my problems so that I don’t relapse and hurt another preson.”

    • Em

      like (wink)

  • Jam

Nice that ABC still has time for domestic abusers. Too bad I don’t watch that network anymore.

  • pop

No. I am ashamed that ABC is airing an interview with Chris Brown and yet they are all freaked out over Adam Lambert (and i’m not really a Lambert music fan).

  • Stacy

No I wont watch, but I’ll probably come back on tomorrow and read the recap. I agree with Diane R. Chris Brown needs to stop apologizing and start actually working on his problems. I’m tired of hearing him say how sorry he is and how his momma and his pastor and helping him. HOW chris HOW? why aren’t you out doing some community service

  • tvmarie

I just think it’s another example of Chris trying to compete w/Rhianna. Her 20/20 interview garnered alot of attention, not to mention it spured young women to contact battered help lines. Chris just needs to face the fact that he ruined his career. I’m not saying he can’t be sorry, be rehabilitated, etc, but he just is in damage-control mode and I don’t see any sincerity there, and neither did Rhianna which is why she gave him the boot. This guy has major issues that he needs therapy to deal with BEFORE trying to salvage his career. Everytime he’s in the media, you can just see the pain on his face from losing more $$ signs. Whoever handles public relations for him isn’t worth what they’re being paid, because if they were a good public relations agent, they would tell Chris to go away for awhile. With what he’s done, and most of his fans being women, this isn’t something he can just automatically bounce back from–he just doesn’t want to GET IT.

On another note, I am proud of Rhianna for taking a stand and keeping it movin’! I sense a newfound confidence in her that wasn’t there before, and hopefully that will translate over into her choices of boyfriends.

  • HD

I forgive Chris for hitting her, it’s just hard to forgive the fact that it took so long for him to acknowledge he was wrong.

  • natasha

I will be watching CB! people will always have an opinion & who cares? If I like his music, I will buy it. The streets are full of people who have “reformed” in jail & now they are saints? Give me a break!!! The Bible says “judge not lest yee shall be judged!!” Team Chris

    • Kevin

Sure!! What the hell. Apparently you don’t care how the artists you give money to treat your fellow human beings. I guess that means you’d try to *friend* Josef Mengele on Facebook if you liked his tunes. Nice morals, lady.

  • babygirl

YES I WILL EVERYBODY DESERVE A SECOND CHANCE BI***.

    • Kevin

Yes, even ABUSIVE, VIOLENT and DANGEROUS criminals like Chris Brown deserve a second chance. Just not now. And just not in the public eye. Let him rebuild his life outside of the fame.

      • TLess

w0w. you are seriously overwrought. Were you the one who got hit? Were you there? Do you KNOW what happened?

Pretending to be every victim says some bad things about yourself.

      • Kevin

No I wasn’t there. I saw the pictures. I heard his confession. So I “KNOW” enough about what happened: he beat the crap out of her and you’re OK with that.

And why the hell would I need or want to be there to witness the ABUSIVE, VIOLENT and DANGEROUS actions of criminals like Chris Brown anyway?

      • Muffy

Last time I checked, he had a clean record before this. Kevin, you know something we don’t know.

  • michka

Love your new album, Chris Brown, “kiss kiss” the haters goodbye, you’re defying “graffiti”, and they can’t pulled you down.

    • michka

      oopsie, “pull”

    • Kevin

Hell yes! In fact, I think it will win the Grammy for “Best Album of the Year by an ABUSIVE, VIOLENT and DANGEROUS Criminal”.

      • Stacy

        kevin, you’re cute.

      • Kevin

        Awwwww, shucks.
