Good news, drama fans: Damages will be back Jan. 25! And not a moment too soon, especially given this season’s new cast members: Campbell Scott, Martin Short, Lily Tomlin, Keith Carradine, and Len Cariou. Just a guess, but there’s some kind of conspiracy at work here…and some people’s motives aren’t what they seem!
Last season of Damages didn’t quite stand up to the first season, but it was still one hell of a ride, particularly thanks to Glenn Close’s performance. What I love about her Patty Hewes (and the show) is that she’s not a conventional bitchy boss from the Amanda Woodward/Miranda Priestly school of stock characters — she’s way scarier because she’s not a typical ice queen. What kind of villain wears pastel twinsets? The interesting kind.
What’s your Damage, PopWatchers? Are you ready for round three at Hewes and Associates? And what story arcs would you like to see play out for its central characters?

best show on TV. I cant wait to see what rollercoaster to expect this year. Glenn Close is the best actress on TV in recent years.
Definitely ready! I agree the second season did not equal the first, but thought Rose Byrne’s teetering-on-the-edge performance was spellbinding. I do hope they make the brilliant Glenn Close LOOK better this season. Last time she seemed so botoxed (or whatever?) that her face looked downright stony — less like a savvy middle-aged lawyer/boss than like George Washington’s face on Mount Rushmore.
agree about Close’s looks – several of my friends commented that she either looked over-botoxed or having a bad face lift
You’re right that Patty is much more frightening than Amanda or Miranda. Amanda never tried to have Allison killed for one thing. But yes, even her demeanor makes her the most intimidating character on TV right now. I’d have a stroke if I had to face her in court. I most look forward to the core of the show: Patty’s relationship with Ellen. I can’t wait to see where they go after the ups and downs of the season finale. I’m also excited for the new cast members like Short and Tomlin. This show can clearly bring a MAJOR dramatic performance out of a comedic actor. On that subject, what will Frobisher be up to this year?
SOOO Excited! This is such a well-acted, well-written show.
Is that even a question?? I cannot wait for Patty to come back!! I’m counting down the seconds.
Pretty much the best made show on tv, hoping this will be an improvement over season two (which was also great). Would also love to see a lot of Ellen and Patty’s relationship.
I hate to be contrary: the first season was brilliant because of the acting, writing, and original narrative structure. It was new! Different! Second season? Shrug – acting still good, but it lacked the “wow” of the first season. This is the sort of show I think should be proud of its work and retire on top – otherwise, it gets tired and fades away. Season 2 was a re-tread. Still better than lots of TV, but what’s wrong with making a good mini-series or stand alone series?
Dropped out of season 2 halfway, but will give season 3 a shot. LOVED season 1.
Hopefully they don’t kill Keith Carradine’s character off…seems to be a common theme with all of his characters lately.
Can’t wait for January 25th to come around it’ll be like celebrating the holidays again. We definitely need our Patty Hewes and Ellen Parsons power struggle and relationship fix. I was reading the sides back in September for the first episode and it’s going to be a really entertaining ride.
Oh I almost forgot Damages fans this weekend Sat. Dec 5th on FX-HD and Sun. Dec 6th on FX. The network is re-airing the 2nd season of Damages. I think they are airing two episodes a night. Please check your local listings in your area.
I hope Season 3 is better than Season 2. Ellen’s improved performance was wasted and Timothy Olyphant was too. They even had Lithgow and turned him into a blabbering character with no bite. I keep expecting Patty’s son to become a real bur in her side, and I did like that Lithgow was his father. Season 2 started out with a lot of promise, so I hope they don’t just slap something together. PLEASE make it a twisted, convoluted, dark story like Season 1 where see flashbacks and we care about what happened and why people are acting strange and suspicious.
DC- That was William Hurt, not John Lithgow that was in Season 2.
I’ll say it if no one else will, Martin Short, man does not get enough work. He should be on every show just so I can watch the man give TV interviews. That’s all.
I am excited as well for Season 3. I am not as disappointed as you all were with Season 2 because it is like a second movement to a symphony — lots of pastoral, placid work that does re-tread the theme of the first movement (Season 1). But Season 3 should be a great finale (if ever this will be its last season). The show is gaining momentum now and I like the fact that many respected thespians lend their considerable talents to the third one. I am particularly excited with Lily Tomlin’s appearance more than any of the guest stars. She mentioned in an interview that she’s a huge fan of the show and happy to be on board. As for Len Cariou, didn’t he live with Glenn Close briefly in the early 70s? Should be an interesting mix. And I agree that Patty’s son’s role should be strengthened and developed even more — he is one of Patty’s rare weaknesses. Can’t wait!
Definitely one of the best TV shows ever!!! Cant wait for the 3rd season already… And i hope they will consider coming up with a movie version for the finale.
it has substance and totally nerve wrecking … one of the best shows on television today … never missed an episode… i love love love it!
