I guess I’m the only one who remembers why Ice Wars, and the flood of other skating specials in 1994, were possible? Rinks needed to make up the money they were losing thanks to the NHL lockout.
Jumpin Joe Sabovcik..1984 Olympic Bronze Medalist and still skating better then ever…he was awesome at Ice Wars, 2nd highest scores of the night!!!!! Wish they would pick someone other then Elizabeth…
Does Hasselbeck know anything about ice skating, or does she know one of the big shots behind this show? Yuck, yuck, yuck!
As a kid, I was obsessed with Ice Wars and figure skating in general (I still am, actually). The 1994 Ice Wars was AWESOME. I hate how I have to search high and low to find figure skating anywhere on TV nowadays. Some other faves not mentioned above that I miss: Paul Wylie and Todd Eldridge. These two were both debonair, elegant skaters!
Phillippe Candeloro would be awesome- I loved his Godfather routine.
yay! Fellow skating nerds! I was completely obsessed with figure skating from 92 through 96ish. I would love to see that Russian pairs team Mishkutonik (sp?) and Dmitriev. She was really flexible and he was really hot – they’d be great!
I’d like to see if Rosalynn Sumners would be available as a competitor. If not, maybe the backstage interviews ala “Dancing With The Stars”.
the host and judges have stronger names than the skaters listed so far. Let’s reverse the talent. Would rather see Kurt and Kristi on the ice!

Michelle Kwan of course! And why not have Sabrina Bryan co-host instead of Hasselbeck? Sabrina has a terrific engaging personality and was already a featured musician (W/ TCG) on a skating special a few years back. I’d much rather see her than that self righteous Hasselbeck
I have all of the Ice Wars recorded and was lucky enough to attend 2 in person. I hope Ilis Kulik and Katia Gordeeva included. And oh, what I would give to see Kurt skate!
Elizabeth Hesselbeck is definitely a drawback. Especially when you compare her to the panel on Battle of the Blades (which was awesome both live and on tv…though I had my doubts with the hockey players’ abilities at first…) Kurt will make it work though, even with Hesslebeck, and ANYTHING with Shae Lynn Bourne will draw a big audience! She is incredible.
I also suggest Jamie Sale, David Pelletier, Jennifer Robinson…and yes, of course Jeff Buttle!
I don’t like Hasselbeck, ABC should rethink her. I want Stephane Lambiel to be on this show and he will be!!
I am sorry….but she is always questioning everyone else for their qualifications – what makes her qualified in ice skating? She does not even know how to skate! Let’s get real ABC!
