New York, New York, a hell of a town; The Bronx is up and the Battery’s…getting flooded/set on fire/being eaten by a monster, etc.:

I’m glad you included the final scene from Planet Of The Apes. I don’t think I saw any clips from I Am Legend, though.
It was a barren scene of a street… looked like no one had been there in years (lots of brown tones). Near the end too.
2:14 in the clip
doesn’t get TOUCHED in 2012 tho – a first for sure.
That was too cool! Loved it!
But don’t forget, the Big apple has lots of superheros watching over it.. Batman, Spiderman, Fantastic 4. It may always be getting destroyed, but it does have its superheros!
Fail Safe where it gets nuked?
That was great!! Can’t wait to share it with my friends!
That was one thing I loved about Jericho. It was the only post-apocalyptic show I ever saw that had NYC make it out intact.
A picture of the statue of liberty half buried in the sand on a beach was shown. What movie was that from?
Planet of the Apes
Sacrilege.
Of course New York always gets it in movies. People have New York-envy in Hollywood. It’s the true center of the universe where LA is just the cheap plastic imitation. There’s no other city that’s so iconic, from it’s people to it’s subways to it’s buildings, it’s the only city where you could imagine absolutely could happen there (and usually does). I live in New Jersey, 20 minutes outside NYC and let me tell you, the minute I cross through that tunnel, my entire person comes alive like you wouldn’t believe. If you haven’t been to NYC at least once in your life, well I feel sorry for ya.
You’re right, NY is one of the most iconic cities on earth with so many easily recognized landmarks. Also, whether New Yorkers care or not, a lot of Americans not so secretly dislike or even despise the town and it’s residents. Or at least the stereotypical NY they see in the media. Newsweek even did a cover story about this several years ago. Call it jealousy or whatever but a whole lot of people gleefully like seeing NY get “blowed up real good”.
