Least favorite is “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” Gag. Realized as I was reading the other comments that I hate “Wonderful Christmastime” too! My favorites are “Carol of the Bells” and “The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting…).” My best friend’s husband HATES “Feliz Navidad” and so every time it comes on we turn it up and sing it loud to annoy him!
I HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE FELIZ NAVIDAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and yes, everybody i know, KNOWS I hate that song and they love to torture me with it… I also hate that John Lennon one “So this is Christmas and a happy new year” because I have a strong dislike for children hitting high notes that are just TOO high for them to reach- its like nails on a chalkboard (worse)… but Carol of the Bells is awesome in any format… especially the Transiberian Rockin version…
I hate “Do they know its Christmas”. What a egocentric, ethnocentric, ignorant load of %&*^.
And what the heck was Paul thinking. I had never heard this one till adulthood then only a snippet on a radio promo. I thought it was bad just by the first few notes.
What is the bruce springsteen one? cause I HATE that one. and I love Hard candy christmas by Dolly Parton from Best Litt.e Whorehouse in Texas but its not actually a Christmas song so why the f do radio stations play it?
Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer makes me start twitching I hate it so much. The Drummer Boy just bores me, always has, always will.
All I Want for Christmas is my Two Front Teeth – I actually was missing my two front teeth one Christmas, which inspired everyone I knew to start singing when they saw me. And considering I was eleven, and beyond the age where things like that are cute, or at least tolerable, I was pissed off all holiday season, and ended up locking myself in my room for part of the break until my teeth had grown back in. HATE that song.
Being Jewish, and forced to participate in school Christmas pageants as a kid (private school), I feel generally Scrooge-y about ALL Christmas songs. That said, I do like the Carol of the Bells, Good King Wenceslaus and Oh Holy Night, but not after 8 weeks’ worth. I also like the acapella version of 12 Days of Xmas from Straight No Chaser (you can find it on You Tube) and Adam Sandler’s Hanukah song. All other holiday songs make me crazy, from October through January. Thank goodness I’m not obligated to spend every free moment at the mall trying to buy happiness.
I can’t stand “12 Days of Christmas!” It feels like it actually lasts 12 days.
Little Drummer Boy is at the top of the list. Along with Two Front Teeth, Grandma Got Runover by a Reindeer, Christmas Shoes, and especially Nuttin’ for Christmas.
“Christmas Wrapping” by the waitresses? didn’t see it on the list but good god there’s no song on earth that evokes the same kind of hatred in me…
Fairy Tale of New York by the Pogues….best xmas song EVER!!!!!
