'America's Funniest Home Videos': The groin gag you WON'T see on Sunday's 20th anniversary special

If you’re like me, you’ve waited 12 years for this. If you’re not like me, could you just fake it for a minute? Check it out: Bob Saget makes his return to the stage of America’s Funniest Home Videos for a special 20th anniversary episode (Sunday, 7 p.m., ABC)! The original host will share the emcee duties with the current host, Tom Bergeron, as they whisk us through classic clips ranging from nut cracks to animal attacks. (FUN FACT YOU SHOULD KNOW: Coming into this season, AFV had aired 287 different groin-hit videos.) But the one thing you won’t be able to see on Sunday night is Bob Saget uttering the phrase, “Bury my groin at Wounded Knee.” But oh, he said it, and you can see for yourself how and why below, as EW.com brings you an exclusive outtake that was too hot for TV! Okay, maybe it was just a busted take. But in any case, enjoy this historic joining of AFV forces.

Are you planning to watch the Saget-Bergeron spectacle? And what clip are you dying to see during this 20th anniversary episode? (You know me—I can never get enough of Frightened Man Punches Halloween Scarecrow.)

I don’t even know why, but I adore this show.

its fun laughing at others misfortunes.

I miss the early 90s – Full House, TGIF, plaid, and Bob Saget hosting AFV – today’s tv stinks.

This is one of those shows where it is easy to forget that it is still on the air. It’s like when I turn on the tv on a saturday night and realize COPS and America’s Most Wanted are still on.

    • Casey

lol, I was thinking the same thing.

I’m not sure if I want to see Saget back again. I’ve watched reruns with my kids where he’s the host and there are a bunch of times when it seems like he’s drunk. And he acts like he’s embarrassed to be there – I wonder if he really was embarrassed and acted drunk to get let go from his contract. Anyway, he was a walking disaster.

On the other hand, Tom Bergeron always seems like he’s having the time of his life. It’s like he realizes what a silly show it is and just plays along. He’s so much fun to watch!

Actually Bob was embarrassed to be on the show, for his last year he asked to be let go of his contract early but they refused so for this last year he basically put in no effort so he would be released.

I do love Tom, and I actually do want to see this Sunday’s show mostly so I can watch the best clips over 20 years. AFV is a great show because no matter when I watch it, I’m not disappointed.

This show gets old quick if you try to watch it every week, That being said, there is no other show on television that can guarantee at least one great laugh no matter what episode you happen to catch. Happy 20th AFV!!

Love this show, especially the groin-hits. Classic.

Wow, I guess Daisy Fuentes and that other guy are getting no love…though their tenure was pretty much the show’s low point.

Like Sean S said, the show is better if you only watch it once in a while. Then you ask yourself “This is still so funny, why don’t I watch it all the time?”.

  • Quirky

Only 287? Always seemed like more.

  • wp2012

Wow, I like to congratulate myself for such a milestone. 20 years of this drivel and I still have to watch a single episode

    • Casey

How can you declare it drivel when you’re never watched a single episode? Also, why are you commenting on a show you’ve never seen?

Not to be mean or anything but I do not understand why AMFV is still on the air. Way back in 1991 it was a huge deal. However now with “You Tube” on the internet, AMFV is no longer needed. Besides, yeah the winners get cash but once taxes, the hotel, food, and transportation costs are deducted, the winner does not win so much. I am just being honest here.

…I’d love to see a video(I believe it was from the first season) where 2 asian toddlers are walking hand in hand, on a sidewalk, and there’s this gap in it; they stand there for a minute, just puzzled as to how are they going to cross now…so finally the boy puts himself over the gap so the girl can cross, walking over him; it’s the sweetest thing…

    • Taylor Davidson

I know EXACTLY what video you’re talking about. I’ve been trying to find that clip online for ages. It was so cute! Definitely the most memorable one on AFV for me.
