'Survivor: Samoa': Thanksgiving episode actually worth watching!

Categories: Reality TV, Survivor

The dreaded Survivor recap episodes have long been thought of as, well, turkeys, by fans. But last season’s Tocantins recap turned out to be a decent watch, crammed with new footage and storylines that shed light on some major moves in the game. And tomorrow’s recap episode of Survivor: Samoa (titled “The First 27 Days”) follows that same script. Now, don’t get me wrong, it’s nowhere near as satisfying as an original episode (especially considering there is no fresh torch-snuffing to be had), but for hardcore fans, there are definitely some interesting deleted tidbits sprinkled throughout. Among the things revealed in the episode: We find out what happened to Daisy, the chicken that Shambo let slip out of the coop; a contestant threatens another player after a rough-and-tumble challenge; and there’s even more sneaky sabotage from Russell. All that, plus this genius quote: “Don’t make me throw up on your face.” (You’ll have to tune in to see who delivers that gem.) Check back on PopWatch right after the episode tomorrow for my mini-recap of the recap. In the meantime, let us know if you plan to watch tomorrow night, and make sure to see Tocantins runner-up Stephen Fishbach and me grill Laura, the most recent snuffed Survivor, on the latest edition of Survivor Talk below. Of course I plan to watch it – never missed one!

Oh, I’ll watch it, though this and the family reunion episode are the two I hate the most every season. If you haven’t been invested in the show from the beginning, why should there be a recap to catch you up? Why not have an extra episode with a tribal council then we wouldn’t have to have the inevitable double tribal council episode. Don’t get me wrong, I like this season over all, especially Russell. The recap and the family episodes have to GO!

Agree. I thought this Thanksgiving episode was going to be a REAL NEW one. This is just a recap. Why does CBS need to deceive their viewers by advertising this is NEW? It is really just a recap like all previous years. I don’t need it. I’m a SURVIVOR fan and watch every episode.

gee, I wonder if there will be any scenes without Russell?

I am thankful for you Dalton, now that Josh is gone, you are the only reason to keep reading!

Shambo laughing when Laura missed could end up costing her a million. No one likes poor sportsmanship and it will piss off some jury members if she makes it that far.

I loved it when Shambo laughed at Laura’s face. After being bullied by the “mean girls” for 27 straight days, it’s nice to see the tables turned.

There is no evidance Shambo was bullied by the so called mean girls. The Galu guys were a lot worse.
The worst thing Laura called Shambo was calling her Gilligan for losing the fishing gear and chicken after Shambo bragged to be expert in fishing and a farm girl.
Anyway Shambo spent couple of days in Foa Foa so she could’ve been ,,bullied,, for 27 straight days either lol.

I agree. Laura poked fun at Shambo for losing the fishing gear and the chicken (which was well deserved) and that was pretty much it. Laura, both in her conversations with other players and her one-on-one camera time has been nothing but charitable in her remarks concerning Shambo. When she got voted out, she didn’t say “Shambo is an idiot. She’s a horrible person. A viper.” or anything of the sort. She just pointed out that Shambo’s had it in for her.

Shambo, on the other hand, is obviously dealing (poorly) with some serious psychological issues, probably related to her feelings of social inadequecy in her regular life outside of the game. The hatred she’s been pouring out about Laura has been entirely uncalled for.
