It’s been one helluva week for Adam Lambert. Read the full post.

Love it. Great interview as always.

“Trolley stop .. ding! ding!” — lol. So adorable.

A great interview, Michael. Thank you for the appetizer.

Thank you for giving us some pre-Thanksgiving break Slezak action. I was checking in to watch last week’s Realite again and was pleasantly surprised with this little nugget. Regarding some people’s reaction that “kids matter,” it seems clear to me that Adam is willing to lose a few of those kids if he can do what he wants to do as an artist. Whether that is the right move commercially is yet to be determined, but something tells me he would rather fail fantastically than have to play it safe. Plus, there were warnings left and right that the routine would be risque, and as a mom myself, there was plenty of raunchy, tasteless performance on that stage WELL before Adam came out.

      MK:
You are so right. Eminem (sp?) and Jay-Z were cursing so much they had to bleep out most of their songs. I love LG but my gosh breaking glass, and costumes were well OTT for some but I liked it. I was shell shocked at first, but it was acting. So what. It’s about time someone like Adam came along and stirred things up a bit. His act was tame compared to some that night and past performances.

Michael, thank you for this great interview! Adam is so well spoken.

I love his CD and look forward to the day we can talk about the music so that more people can be interested to hear this gifted young man sing.

Looking forward to your other interview snippets:-) Thanks!

Michael: Yet another great interview with Adam! You always ask good, thought-provoking questions. I absolutely agree about the double standard. Can’t wait for the next interview segment!

  • Melanie

Ummm..for those concerned about the children. It was 11:00 and what part of ABC’s promos at every commercial break saying Adam’s performance would be “SHOCKING” did you not understand??

  • ZoniDuck

Michael, even if I don’t necessarily agree with everything you *write* about the idols, I can always count on you to get great interviews out of them, and to give thoughtful and reasoned commentary. You’re a class act, and I’m happy to call myself a fan of yours.

And Adam? He’s a talented, charming, intelligent, and sincere guy, who is learning as he goes. Yeah, he’s been around the block in the entertainment world, but this is honestly his first shot at the big time, and he’s not gonna be 100% perfect right out of the gate. He is fascinating and amazing, and I’m looking forward to being a fan for life, and yes, being entertained.

Interesting you said they censored his kiss but you never mentioned that they showed the Britney Madonna kiss. Might that not be a KEY POINT?

IMO, the one who should be apologizing is RCA to Mr. Lambert. I feel they failed him by not guiding him correctly. RCA has decades of experience in this; Mr. Lambert has none. He should have been getting advice, directions, and guidance from his recording company. Shame on RCA. Mr. Lambert is learning so I’m sure he chalks this up as lesson learned (the hard way).

I don’t think he gets it. Nobody would give a damn if his performance was on MTV. It WASN’T. It was on the channel of Mickey Mouse on a national network before 11pm.

    • sherry

Anna pay attention. The network advertised for weeks that it would be shocking but in a good way. So don’t the parents care enough to check a show out before letting their children watch it? And there is the PG censor on every cable or dish company service. Why not use it? I grew up watching what might be called slizzy today and my children watched what I watched and they didn’t turn out to be perverts but they did turn out to have normal lives. Don’t under estimate our children.

I want to be Trolley Stopped all night long by Adam – he’s my favorite Idol ever and he so should have won. Kris who??? Oh that’s right – he didn’t even make the top 10 and Taylor Hicks sold more than him. What a loser.

    • gato

Leave kris out of this . he has nothing to do with this.

  • Sarah D

“It” will now and forever be called “the San Francisco Treat”.

  • shalotte

Michael, as always, you + Adam == awesome. TROLLEY STOP.

Also ahaha the comment thread is nearly as hilarious. *dying at Vala*

I’ve always appreciated Adam Lambert from a distance, but I’ve become a card-carrying fan in the last few days. I just bought FYE, and I’m kind of shocked at how much I like it. There are some legitimately great songs on his album. Also, Michael Slezak is so much better at talking to talent than those bozos on the Early Show.

  • Ray

As someone who loves Adam as well, please don’t lump all of us Kris fans together :/
