LOL did Chris Weitz ACTUALLY say “RPattz”???? or is that just you doing that? Hardy har.

  • Melisa

They made a great movie with New Moon, Chris Weitz was a better director (by far) than the last one.
The people who give bad reviews, if you look never give a proper reason why its bad, they just try to fit as much witty comments into one paragraph as physically possible.

    • Leanne

Melisa, I noticed that too! They never give any reasons, they just try and sound as clever and superior as they can, as they can’t get past the stereotype that Twilight is only for 11 year olds, which is odd, because that is the very bottom of the possible ages that would read it, it’s more of a mid-teen thing id anything, but really, it could be anyone!

If you like Twilight, you are an idiot.

I’m sorry but if you feel the need to come on here and make a derrogatory comment towards us because it makes your small insignificant self feel better then i think you will find that you are the idiot!!!

    • LMC

If you have “Fart” in your user name you are CLEARLY an immature boob!

  • Mel

A lot of folks here can’t deal with the success of something they don’t understand. Everyone’s entitled to their opinion, but recognize that $140M box office opening means this ‘crappy’ movie resonated with many, whether they’re willing to admit it or not. Congrats Chris!

Now that the one crazy Twilight hater feels better about his sad life after filling up yet another page of Twilight comments with ignorant ramblings I will leave a real comment. What a lovely interview. He seems so intelligent and sincere. To share so much of himself was really nice. I couldn’t agree more with his comments, especially the ones on Kristen’s amazing range as Bella. I would love to see him come back for Breaking Dawn. I also agree that the cinematography was brilliant for this film.

I LOVED your movie Chris, and so did my husband!! The cinematography was beautiful, the actors were beautiful and they were wonderful as well. Thank you so much!! I’ve read all of the books 3 times and I was very pleased.

Don’t loose sleep over Golden Compass Chris, with the banning of the book I think you were in a no-win situation anyway. Not your fault, let it go. Parents have to hesitate for the good of their kids.

I’d love to see Chris Weitz do BD (though I’m sure there are other people who’d be good too) whereas I’d hate to see Catherine Hardwicke do it. I think that’d make for a truly underwhelming finale. Breaking Dawn needs the rich, grand scope of New Moon, only more enhanced. Plus, Chris is much more intricate than Catherine, which BD needs.

First of all, I think it’s great that Chris Weitz is replying to comments. Thank you! Secondly, I think you did a fabulous job with New Moon. It is the hardest book and often the least favorite. Despite which you made a great film that was interesting and beautiful.
Next, the people who are here to call names and be unkind: stop being bullies. Why do you have to be mean to people who you don’t even know? That is very immature.
Fourth: I think the actors did a great job. Personally, I don’t connect with Kristen Stewart. Maybe it’s the difference of personality, I don’t know. In the film Twilight I didn’t see her as Bella; in New Moon I really got the feeling she was Bella and not just an actress playing a part. Watching Bella in the forest after the break-up scene, I could feel the emotional pain and turmoil of the character. It was beautiful. And the spiraling photography when she was on the ground was amazing.
Taylor Launter did a phenomenal job. I was not a fan of Jacob in the books. I left that theater a huge Jacob fan thanks to the way Taylor portrayed him. The entire cast did a wonderful job, in my opinion.
I agree with some others who commented that I do not get Star Wars. I don’t like it, I don’t get the story. It’s not my “thing.” And that’s okay. If Twilight isn’t your “thing” than turn and look somewhere else. You don’t have to lash out at others who enjoy it. Remember: this is all just entertainment. You are not committing yourself to a war. It’s just for fun. Please let people be.
And a huge thank you to Stephenie Meyer who created this beautiful world and shares it with us all! :)

As a fan of the Twilight Saga books, I want to thank Chris for giving us New Moon. I loved the movie, and I really appreciate the fact that Chris put the desires of the Twilight Saga fanbase ahead of any wishes to appeal to a wider demographic, or movie critics. If you think the power of the fanbase lies with the tween and teens, think again. A large portion of the fanbase is made up of women over 25 years of age. Personally, I love movies/books of all genres, and I don’t understand what all garbage from the Twi-haters is all about. Maybe I won’t be going to see Avatar at the theater, but I’m certainly not going to give its fans and their director a bunch of crap about it. To each his own! I also have been an EW subscriber for 10 years, and I appreciate EW’s coverage of the TW Saga films, as I do for all of the other movies out there. Thanks again, Chris, for making a film that I will be watching over and over again!

What exactly is there to “get”? I’ve read all four books and seen the movies. It’s fluff–Harlequinn Romance for the tween set. There’s nothing wrong with fluff, but there’s nohing to “get” about it either.

    • Craig

I think the idea is, we all relate to different kinds of characters and situations based on what we’re like and what we’ve been through. To some, Twilight might just be fluff, to others, it might speak volumes about themselves and their own internal struggles, or something of that sort.

I am amazed at how many people pretend to be fed up with all that is TWILIGHT yet they are reading articles and leaving comments. Too funny to me. I would never seek out articles on crap movies I didn’t like. Am I the only one that thinks that is odd? That being said I had just been thinking to day about how I hope that Chris Weitz knows just how amazing he did with this movie. So I feel very lucky to be able to have a chance to communicate that. I could not believe how much the movie was so similar to the book and how amazing everything looked in the movie. It was so beautiful. I am a huge fan of the books and I could not have been happier, other then making the movie longer :) Thank you for such a beautiful movie Mr. Weitz :)

    Dear Chris Weitz,
dont worry about what all these people say, because they are not real fans they are just haters. I would like to thank you so much for all your effort into New Moon it was awesome! i was left completely spechless by how you brought this to screen. Also taylor, kristen and rob are amazing as the rest of the cast.
I watched New Moon twice during weekend and Ill probably go back when its not that crowded! i absolutely loved it and you are a genius! once again thank you for new moon and all the fans love you!

    • Jazz

ditto…and, I would love you to direct Breaking Dawn…

Unfortunately, most of the critics are middle-aged men who obviously have no understanding of what a large female (and some male) population like in film and books. Sad really. As an educated fan over 40, I liked the movie and the story behind it. A fun, romatic story – not a horror story. There have been many movies that the “critics” said were worth five stars. I went and walked out. So much for critics. Keep up the good work Chis!

  • David Kerr

I’m just a recent convert to the Twilight Phenomenon. I was skeptic at first and now I’m like completely 180 degrees. I love the entirety of Jacob’s plight! This goes far deeper than Harry Potter!
