Réalité: Champs crowned on 'Runway' and 'ANTM,' righteous ousters on 'Top Chef' and 'SYTYCD,' and bonus Kris Allen!

The 2009 reality TV season is zooming toward its inevitable end — the sounds of “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” at the local pharmacy tell me it is so — but that just means it’s the most wonderful time of the year for Réalité*. Righteous winners were crowned on America’s Next Top Model and Project Runway. Hugh Hefner committed an act of unintentional sabotage on Dancing With the Stars. The spirits of Channing Tatum and Carol Channing were invoked (probably for the last time) on So You Think You Can Dance. And someone totally awesome (named Jennifer) rallied despite weird Da Vinci Code shenanigans on Top Chef. All that plus BONUS INTERVIEW FOOTAGE WITH KRIS ALLEN! How can you not press play below? Wait. Don’t answer that. Instead, follow me on Twitter @EWMichaelSlezak. Or head on down to the comments, make like Madoonie, and “Express Yourself”!

*We will be taking next week off for Thanksgiving, but we promise extra stuffing upon our return.

    i love Kris …

  • Courtney

Too much white gayity going on. Bring back Dawnie Walton.

    • Scooter

Get over it, Courtney! The boys were LOL funny in every clip. It looks like Slezak is rotating through co-hosts each week, so odds are there will be 50% less gaiety for you over the next few weeks.

    • Janiqueuoa

I totally agree. Or the gal who writes the Bachelorette column. She is so funny! Love her humor.

    • Jen

I have to say, I kinda loved the white gaiety this week.

    • amanda

blasphemy! there can never be enough gayity! that is all.

    • i’m a lady

i concur. i highly enjoyed it.

    • nancy

I loved Gayalité this week! Too funny.

      • charlotte

I loved those two! They were hilarious. I don’t know what Courtney is talking about.

  • Nick T

    “lil’ baby cats!”

  • Corran

I disagree a lot of the time with Slezak, but I have to say I think he and I are the hugest Jen fans in the world. JEN FTW ON TOP CHEF VEGAS!

Tis the season for reality show guilty pleasure endings.

The term is spelled out “sous-vide”. The wiki site is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sous_vide

I think the term was introduced in Season 3. Top Chef winner Hung was sous-viding everything.

    • Lisa

Yes I first learned this term from Hung. And last season, if I am remembering correctly, poor Carla lost the whole season by deciding to sous vide her finale meat, when she’d never done it before.

The Jen segment with Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger” was EPIC! Most lols I’ve had all month.

Kevin’s my guy on Top Chef but I won’t mind if Jen pulls it off. It’s the Volt bros I can’t stomach.

    Love Kris’ bit too.

As for how Kevin cooked, he was employing this technique:

I agree with some of their opinions. Totally, Jen for the win on Top Chef – love her. And Ryan on SYTYCD – yummy. Joanna, I can’t really warm up to her. How cute is Kris Allen? Yummy as well.

Any thoughts on Lou Dobbs departure from CNN and Levi’s pictorial on Playgirl?

  • Kendra

    I love this show!!
And the extra Kris makes it even more epic! :D

  • Jen

I so wished you guys would’ve explored what I thought to be reality TV’s weirdest, most why-the-face moment this week (at least of the shows I watch): that completely random, totally unnerving, very awkward-squirm-inducing package adjustment by Ryan on SYTYCD. It was, like, the most inappropriately long shot ever of a dude grabbing his goods for the world to see on prime time national television–and the camera even panned in. Even you guys showed the clip during which it occurred. Seriously, where’s a Classic Dawnie Walton Reaction Shot when you need one?

  • mags

Aww–LOVE Kris Allen. (And yes, Slezak, get the physical CD for the pictures and the thank you’s; they’re worth it!)

  • traveller

    Kris: Whaddaya gonna do?
These guys crack me up! Thanks Michael!

  • Lex

Tanner is totally the lovechild of Michael Ausiello and Michael Urie.

Wikipedia definition of “sous-vide”… or however you spell it!

“Sous-vide (pronounced /su ˈvid/),[1] French for “under vacuum”,[1] is a method of cooking that is intended to maintain the integrity of ingredients by heating them for an extended period of time at relatively low temperatures. Food is cooked for a long time, sometimes well over 24 hours. Unlike cooking in a slow cooker, sous-vide cooking uses airtight plastic bags placed in hot water well below boiling point (usually around 60°C or 140°F).”

  • Wes

Dear Michael Slezak & the awesome editor of Realite,

I’m SO happy you guys are team Jen, cause you’ve completely outdone yourself on the ‘Eyes of the Tiger’ montage. THAT WAS UNBELIEVABLY AWESOME. I feel like I owe you my firstborn child, lol.

If Jen killed it next episode, I’m hoping for a bigger celebration. As always, Jen FTW!!!

P/s: I laughed a good 5 mins after I read the subtitle ‘Jen does not try to choke judges with bones’. Genius!
