Due to the fact that I’ve got a headache more massive than Damon’s ego, I’m going to try to keep this recap as brief as Stefan and Elena’s reconciliation.
The Brothers Salvatore stay in town: Though Damon and Stefan intended on leaving Mystic Falls — “But we’re a team. We could travel the world together. We could try out for The Amazing Race,” Damon said — that all changed when the sheriff showed up to report another vampire attack. It was Logan, who wanted Damon to track him so he could subdue him with wooden bullets and find out how the brothers are able to walk in the sun. Damon, meanwhile, wanted to know who’d turned Logan. Neither talked, but Damon had plenty to say when he got home: “No, I’m not okay,” he told Stefan over the phone. “I was ambushed. I was shot. Now I’m vengeful. I’ve just got to find him.”
When he did find Logan — driving to a secluded location to turn Caroline into a vampire — Damon was about to stake him until Logan said Damon wasn’t the only one who wanted to get into the tomb underneath the church and that there was another way to break the spell keeping Katherine and the other vampires mystically captive: “We can help you.” They were supposed to rendezvous at the church to discuss, but Alaric Saltzman (Matthew Davis) staked Logan before he got there. You intrigue me, Mr. Saltzman, and not just because you called the Mayor a “full-grown alpha male douchebag” when he took his son Tyler outside to fight Jeremy like a real man. P.S. Is Tyler turning into a werewolf? Is that why he said he doesn’t know what’s wrong with him in front of a full moon after having another fit of aggression? And why he enjoys drawing freaky s— like Jeremy, who was inspired to get out his sketch pad after seeing a family journal filled with demon-looking creatures from the 1800s?
Stefan and Elena had sex: It wasn’t a dream. Elena really told Stefan that she loved him. He really turned around, stared at her with a look of surrender, then walked over and without a word, kissed her hard. They really ended up in bed. I really ended up pausing the scene repeatedly because my brother-in-law kept walking by the living room, and I felt like a 13-year-old getting busted for watching something she shouldn’t. Elena could handle Stefan’s vampire face, and the awkwardness of asking a vampire if he, too, was thirsty postcoital, but she couldn’t deal with how much she looked like Katherine in the photo she found while snooping around Stefan’s bedroom in his shirt. She left her necklace, sped off, hit something in the middle of the road, and flipped her vehicle. The shot of whatever it was getting up and walking toward her was the spookiest image on the show to date. AWESOME. Any theories as to what it is? (If you’ve read the books and it sounds familiar, no spoilers, unless you mark your comment with the word SPOILER!)
Caroline and Matt: Matt continued to be Mr. Decent. After Tyler gave him crap for looking chummy with Caroline, Matt finally told him he wouldn’t apologize for liking her. “So stop your little bromance bitch act.” Tyler had no comeback. Do not make me have to start to like Tyler…

The show isn’t back until January. Most shows take a hiatus over the holidays.
No, show will be back on Jan. 14th.
Sadly, it’s just reruns of the first 10 episodes in two weeks.

Sexiest scene with Stefan and Elena. Seriously, good freakin job CW. Definitely Tyler is a werewolf since the shot seriously lingered on the full moon. VD is amazing, Paul Wesley is perfect.

Seriously. When I’m sick, I’m told to suck it up and do my job. And not half-assed either. One of the most detailed episodes of Vampire Diaries yet and this is all we get?
Loved this episode. I hit the pause button a few times too
(and there wasn’t a soul walking anywhere). Very sad that it’s not coming back til january. Gotta find some other hottie brothers to stare at until then. Tyler is such a vampire but loving that. Will definitely watch the marathon and relive the magic (and the bare chests).

Loved it- i was so freaked out by the last scene. 2 things- did anyone else notice that in the preview for the episode, there was a lot more skin shown in the elena/stephan scene? just wondering if the cw got worried after all the gossip girl threesome hoopla and made it less racy.
Also – i may just need to re-watch the episode, but who did turn logan? i got that Caroline’s mom had something to do with it.. but where did he get vampire blood to drink beforehand? and was the Sheriff trying to turn him into a vampire? someone esplain please.

SPOILER: The vamp was probably Katherine.
MAJOR SPOILER/BOOKS: It just hit me, what if the vampire who turned Logan and wants to get Katherine out of the tomb is Klaus? The idea is starting to grow on me, especially with the Tyler-as-werewolf thing going on–wasn’t Klaus the one who helped Tyler become a werewolf? Although I do think it’d be too early to introduce such a big new character.
Great Episode!!! LOVED that Stefan and Damon were working together against Logan. They need to do it more often. Also, Damon and Caroline shared a scene together! Love their bitchy chemistry!
Yeah, I think they were definitely implying that Tyler’s a werewolf as is his Dad by saying, ‘you’ve been marked’. In fact, I think Alaric recognized a supernatural connection in Tyler’s Dad, hence the ‘Alpha Male’ comment.
The vampire sex was a little chaste for my taste (being an avid true blood fan and all)and the music and cinematography as bordering on cheesy but at least they didn’t draw out the inevitable elena/stefan hook up any longer thank God. I’m curious about Salztmans ring more than he being a slayer and why he’s in town. I have a feeling whoever elena hit is who turned Logan and I think Elena has some ties to Katherine…I mean why else turn logan into a vampire if not to get at Elena through her aunt? and since the being is clearly supernatural why just stand there in the road waiting for elena to hit you? The car crash was awesome by the way and Elena is such a child so what if she looks like katherine…as far as she knows katherine is dead and gone and what is wrong with Stefan, leaving pictures of katherine laying out in the open? and I’m curious do Vampires use protection? cause their hook up was pretty spontaneous and with all the disrobing it didn’t seem like they were ‘prepared’ or anything. I’m just sayin’
If by ‘prepared’ you’re referring to contraception then it wouldn’t be an issue as these vampires can’t procreate as far as i remember. (sorry if i’m wrong, it’s been a while since i read the books.
So I was thinking Saltzman is a vampire but also a vampire slayer; because when he went to Elena’s house her aunt didn’t invite him in and he said next time. It would be cool if this was true. I also think Elena is a descendant of Katherine and she is probably the other way to open up the tomb where Katherine is. I also understand why she was so upset after finding the picture. She probably thinks that the only reason Stefan wanted her was because she looked like Katherine.
As far as the protection goes it all depends on where this series stands with whether or not a vampire can get a human pregnant!
As far as her being upset becuase of Katherines picture and the resemblance…if I remember correctly after she drove him home he got out of the car after effectively ending it with her and she was the one persued him with her ‘I love you’s..so really she shouldn’t be mad..its not like he seduced her..she was practically asking for it
Yeah Alaric could be a slayer kinda like Blade who is half vampire but hunts them as well. But he also seems to be aware of the possible werewolves so maybe he’s a hunter of all things supernatural.

I don’t think Elena was mad. As far as I know I think she was heartbroken and disappointed. I mean wouldn’t you be when you find out that you’re undead boyfriend’s ex-girlfriend looks like you?

You can’t fairly compare sex on basic cable with sex on HBO. ;-P The rules are SLIGHTLY different.
SPOILER/BOOK: I totally agree with the person who said that it could be Klaus. I’d hope that they would wait another season before introducing Klaus, but the writers of Diaries may not have known at the time if there WOULD be another season. Now we happily know there will be.
Stefan is such a moron…hide the blasted picture! But I suppose if he did then there would be no drama. I agree with you Mandi, that was a spooky image of whatever Elena hit getting back up. I wondered the same thing when Tyler walked away and there was a full moon behind him. Mr Saltzman interest me too! I guess no new episodes till the new year:(
I thought this ep was awesome! I am dying to know who the creepy dark figure is at the end. Maybe it is Damon since he is filled with anger from Logan being killed before he could tell him the other way into the tomb. Then when Damon gets to the car to kill the person he realizes it is Elena and seduces her since she is not wearing the necklace. Not sure, but just a thought!

Maybe she saw the same thing the audience did? I mean with the way that person got back up was so SO creepy, who wouldn’t scream when it walked toward you. I guess we will have to wait and see unless a spoiler pops up before than
Yeah I agree. And remember the scene in the Pilot where Damon got himself hit by that couple coming back from a concert or something? He got hit pretty hard, and his limbs didn’t dislocate like the person in this episode. Unless Elena was going much, much faster than the pilot couple, then I suppose it could be Damon, but I still didn’t feel like it was him.
I so agree with you that’s its’ Damon and since she’s not wearing the necklace he will be able to get to her. I mean this is suppose to be a love triangle and that’s Damon way in.
The guy it looked like was too big to be Damon. Maybe Stephan? doubt it though

I’m so glad i started watching this show. I love all the changes even though they’re different from the books, that just makes the whole thing that much more suspenseful. No idea who Elena crashed into as this never happened in the books.
I wonder what the author thinks of the sex which doesn’t happen ever in any of her books – she’s even more into sexual abstenteeism than steph meyer.
So pissed we hav to wait until Jan.

All I can say is OMG! I am so freakin excited for the next episode. I was thinking maybe the thing that hit Elena’s car was Tyler. Only because he was so upset. Maybe this is were his character comes out. I am totally bummed that we won’t see any new episodes till January. Perhaps I will have to go buy the book to keep myself busy.
I LOVE the books, but please keep in mind that there are some serious differences in what happens in the books and what happens in the TV series.
ahhah i just think its funny how now days the teenager says i love you and that equals automatic sex…back in the dawson creek days, you said i love you and you waited for 3 seasons to get it on. not that i’m complaning of the shirtless brothers or anything.

My feelings exactly. I watch the show for the vampires not for the teen –played by a guy who is nearly 30 and a girl who is in her 20s– angst. You want a good vampire story? Start by removing the schlocky music.
