Colbert's Best Crackups: 'Prince Charles Scandal' still atop your list?

The Comedy Central Insider Blog has a video list of Stephen Colbert’s 12 best crackups. Never one to miss an opportunity to embed the classic “Prince Charles Scandal” report from his days as a Daily Show senior correspondent, I ask you if that breakdown is still your favorite. As Colbert told me in 2004, it was, “Such a proud moment of professionalism. You work for years crafting cogent satirical essays and the thing that everybody remembers is me making love to a Chiquita and bursting into laughter. What you can’t see off camera (embedded video, after the jump) is Jon started laughing first. And then I’m weak. As much as I want to make the audience laugh, I really want to make Jon laugh.” (Perhaps that’s why my second favorite Colbert crackup is “Daily Show/Colbert Toss: Universal Healthcare,” which ends with Stewart standing and screaming, “No, you don’t get another chance!” into the camera after Colbert flubbed a second line and wanted to continue the bit.)

Does “Prince Charles Scandal” still top your list? Or, do you giggle harder thinking about Filliam H. Muffman, Vax-Anus, Jane Fonda on Colbert’s lap, or a Snickers bar in zero gravity?

  • Play Him Off, Keyboard Cat

A fairly recent Daily Show-Colbert segue where Colbert was worried about messing up and getting the Keyboard Cat treatment. Another one where Stewart also fell victim.

I think my favorite is a moment from the Colbert Report. SC was blasting the liberal “Jimmy Smits-ocracy” but pronounced it “Jimmy Smits-o-cracky”. He realized what he had done immediately, but not before he slipped and said “Oh my fuck”. Too funny.

Anytime any one of them cracks up, I die laughing. The Daily Show/Colbert Toss: Universal Healthcare one stayed on my DVR for so long because I refused to delete it. I love them all.

OMG YES! I watched this ep when it aired and went online to find it the next day, searching for an hour in a pre-Hulu era. I have it saved to this day and watch it every now and then. It NEVER gets old. Best Daily Show clip ever!

OH, check out the JFK Airport sketch. Not only did JS totally destroy the thing, he blamed Stephen!

I’m still fond of the sketch where Stephen had Gloria Steinem and Jane Fonda, and they were both fawning over him a bit. One of those really surreal moments…

It wasn’t as uproarious, but I’m pretty devoted to the giggles Stephen gets whenever he gets a chance to mention “Filliam H. Muffman” (his own name for the celebrity relationship between Feclicity Huffman and William H. Macy).

The banana still makes me laugh even though I watched it a million times.
